Where
does Crono stand now? In the last Games contest, Chrono Trigger looked

Yeah,
I was kind of curious about that myself. Characters =/= Games and all,
but you'd figure a big boost for CT would be good for the characters to some extent. |

retrospect, Crono almost beating Pikachu with Magus in there seems even
more impressive when you consider Pokemon has looked damn good in every

I guess. Pikachu got 47% though, so it'd have been pretty darn close even if you take Magus out. |

Yeah I think Crono hasn't really gotten a chance to prove himself at all anyway. Allen made some rules about it when we almost got the contest before BGE3. Had to be characters that completely failed their purpose. Of course it's hard to have everyone agree on such things. Fof instance, Allen stated Raiden would be eligible, which was pretty heavily debated in the announcement topic. Worst
Character Ever would be bad simply because it's hard to quantify what
exactly it means and how it advances, does the winner advance or the
loser? I also think Link could just win outright because the Link drones will think it's just another contest. >_> |
I think Allen realized what a bad idea that was the first time and scrapped it. I don't think he'll just try it again. |

I would think the winner advances. The contest is called "Worst Character Ever", so that should cause people to vote for the character they think is the worst one in each match. Who is the strongest video game character to never appear in a video game? Seems a cheeky question but this includes canceled fare like Starcraft: Ghost as well as characters cut from a game like the would-be protagonist of Dinosaur World before it became Star Fox Adventures. Plus I guess you could include characters from games not yet released like when Lightning made a contest pre-FF13. Not_Wylvane |
Technically FFXIII was released in Japan by the 2010 contest. However, I think you'll be hard press to find someone stronger than Lightning. When was the last time GameFAQs was that hyped for a game with a brand new main character? Congrats to DpObliVion for winning the guru. |

Today's
poll would also count as a valid playrate poll for FFVII, so we've got
essentially 2 playrate polls back to back. I'll wait until today's poll
is over with before updating the Board 8 wiki page for game playrate. FFVII finished with a playrate of 77.76%, almost 0.50% higher than a playrate poll that we had less than 5 months ago. A difference of nearly 5 months between 2 playrate polls shouldn't really be enough to contribute to a notable increase in playrate, so I'll chulk up yesterday's poll to a case of random variation. guess today's poll could qualify as a playrate poll since there is an
option for those who have played the game, but don't own the game. So
this would be our third straight FFVII playrate poll to test out the
random variation aspect of polling. 2 days ago, we got a playrate of 77.76% while yesterday's poll showed a playrate of only 76.79% (almost a full 1% difference). I'm not sure what else could have contributed to this difference other than simple random variation. Over
the course of the 3 FFVII playrate polls in the past 3 days, we got a
playrate of 77.76% on day 1, 76.79% on day 2, and 78.46% on day 3. That
is an overall variation of nearly 1.70% between the lowest playrate and
the highest playrate. The average playrate of the 3 polls is 77.67%. As a result of the 3 straight playrate polls, we saw that random variation can result in a difference of nearly 2% between the lowest and highest playrate. It is a bit surprising that the highest playrate appeared in the poll that was intended to be an ownership poll, although the poll did clearly have options for playing or not playing the game. However, the ownership poll still has an issue in the fact that you could technically vote for one of the "Yes" options for owning the game, but still haven't gotten around to actually playing the game. I guess the chance of someone owning the game and not playing it yet is very low. So
we're getting another Super Bowl poll today. This is our first Super
Bowl poll since 2015 and I'm pretty disappointed it wasn't a straight-up
1v1 poll. At least in 2015, there was a perfectly legitimate reason to
provide more than 2 options due to the Deflategate controversy. This
time around, there is no such controversy heading into the Super Bowl
this year and I don't agree with the decision provide 2 options for each
