Pokemon GO is over 50% and rising in a 10 way poll. I wonder if this will be the last qualifying poll before the overall GotY poll.

This is a pretty bad poll when even Super Mario Run is capable of quadrupling all of the games in this poll except for Pokemon GO.

As of today's poll, we'll have a total of 7 qualifying games for the overall GotY poll. The only previous overall GotY poll with just 7 qualifying games was the 2011 overall GotY poll and that year didn't even have a Final Vote poll between the top 3 (or 2) games. So I'm a bit concerned that we might not even get a Final Vote GotY this year.



880 votes at the end of the first hour today. This is even worse than the first hour total for Xbox One (940 votes) or the Indie poll (919 votes). I guess this poll would be expected to have similar final vote totals to the Xbox One and Indie polls, with a projected total of 8400 to 9400 votes.

Final Vote will probably depend how close it is. I really don't know how this one's going to play out, honestly.

So, we get a remake poll. I thought the Mobile poll would be the final poll prior to the overall GotY poll. Guess we're getting 8 games in the overall GotY.

Best Remake. This might not even add another new game to the GotY poll if TP wins again.

I guess remakes are becoming so common that it can get its own category now.

It's still early in the voting, so maybe Skyrim has a chance of winning this poll. We know that Skyrim (as is typical for WRPGs) doesn't have a good board vote at all.

1231 votes at the end of the first hour. This poll is faring better than I would have expected so far. I guess this poll will be on track for about 11500 to 13000 votes.

Good votals shouldn't be that surprising. The poll largely has games people have actually played although maybe not the specific version in the poll.

Skyrim is taking it.

Being a remake on Wii U wasn't good enough.

This is a weird curveball. Does Skyrim accomplish anyrhing in the overall-GotY? It's one of the most victorious games we've seen in our polls. It's won eleven of its thirteen polls it was in, ranging from hype-polls to GotY to GotG to some high-profile victories in our last contest:

Welcome back System of the Year.

Finally got around to checking the poll just now and I'm happy to see the return of System of the Year. Yeah, it was a shame we didn't get the poll in 2014 as it might have been the only chance of the Wii U winning one of those polls.


Vote totals on this poll are much better than the other GotY polls so far. With 1435 votes at the end of the first hour, this poll will be on track for 14000 to 16000 votes.

PS4, PC and 3DS are the top 3 as should be, but the gap isn't anywhere as big as it should be.

Pokemon SM is strong out of the gate with 9 votes. Pokemon GO is the last game to receive a vote.

I was right about Sun/Moon being option 5, but I was also surprised to see Uncharted 4 in this poll.

Sun/Moon currently off to a strong start so far, but that could just be the board vote at work.

Yeah, it looks like Uncharted 4 got Wild Carded in. It's trying to fight off DOOM and Overwatch for 3rd place.

We definitely need to get the other 2 Nintendo games out of the poll (including Pokemon GO) to see how Sun/Moon performs without them in the way. If it remains this close with FFXV, removing those 2 games could tip the balance in favor of Sun/Moon. Plus, FFXV probably doesn't like having to deal with Sun/Moon in a 3-way or 1v1 poll since this 9-way poll reduces the amount of anti-votes FFXV receives.

Does FF15 get significantly anti-voted? The game has problems but I don't think there's a strong hate base like FF13 has.

I guess he's assuming FFXV would get the anti-votes FF would normally get against anything, but I don't think it really matters that much.

I have no idea if FFXV specifically gets anti-voted, but the 9-way poll reduces the impact of the anti-votes. FFXV won't like being thrown into a 3-way or 1v1 poll where the anti-votes will have a more severe impact.

hmm I thought 'antivotes' are aimed at strong games/characters that 'always win' like FFVII and Link? games that are hated because they just suck are simply weak in these polls, like FF12. I think in the long run FF15 will be weaker than FF12 and FF13. the game is very unremarkable, incomplete, lack the FF charm and is just plain boring. That's just my opinion.

Vote totals on this poll are slightly behind the System of the Year poll at this point in time. With 1405 votes at the end of the first hour, this is on track to finish between 13500 and 15500 votes.

Uncharted 4 is also in third place at the end of the first hour, but it's still not safe to call third place since it isn't that far ahead of DOOM and Overwatch yet.

The funniest thing if you held this poll during Go's peak it gets like 70%.

Yeah. It's pretty much a modern iteration with all the usual FPS stuff but without falling too heavily into s*** like datalogs and crap. Basically, you run around blowing up demons and finding secrets. It's pretty damn sweet and I wish I had more time to play it.

So, Uncharted 4 hung on pretty well here. Think it makes the next poll with the top 2?

If so, Final Fantasy XV is probably screwed barring another poll after that.

Let's just appreciate Uncharted 4 looking really great here

Heck Uncharted 4 might win a threeway poll, it's not that far behind.

I don't think UC4 will have that much of an impact. Console LFF isn't really a thing, and it's a different type of game that appeals to a different audience.

It'd be more likely to benefit from the standout factor considering the other two are JRPGs.

ALBW managed to win the Final Vote in the 2013 GotY poll after losing in the overall GotY poll first. Well, this is worth talking about in the context of today's poll:

TLoU put up an impressive 58.53% on ALBW in that overall GotY poll, with ALBW actually finishing third behind GTA V. ALBW would need to acquire almost 100% of Super Mario 3D World's votes just to beat TLoU, which was the main reason TLoU was still a favorite to win the Final Vote. However, ALBW ended up defying the odds and beat TLoU in the 3-way poll.

Today's poll is not as big of a blowout, with FFXV only at 57.53% on Sun/Moon. Pokemon Sun/Moon also only needs to acquire about 71% of the votes from both Pokemon GO and Twilight Princess HD combined to put it over FFXV tomorrow.

Final poll. FF15 vs SM vs Uncharted 4.

Pokemon Sun/Moon got the first 5 votes before another option (Uncharted 4) got its first vote.

I hope we get a FINAL-final-GotY here...gotta believe Pokemon is benefitting here with UC4 being the third option. Then again, in 2008 SSBB expanded its lead over MGS4 despite dropping FO3.

Either way, 2013 was upsetting to see its winner still be fair to question. Please have one more poll, SB!

I suspect the Final, Final Vote in 2008 had more to do with the 3-way poll being so close between all 3 games (even Fallout 3 still had above 30%) rather than running a second Final Vote to fully establish the winner of the 2008 GotY polls due to SSBB and MGS4 both having one win a piece.

In 2013, this wasn't the case as GTA V was well behind TLoU and ALBW in the 3-way.

The Nintendo Switch conference is at 11pm EST on the 12th. I wonder how that would affect a Final Final poll.
