Isn't that on the very last hour of a potential final, final poll?

Yes, it would be the final hour of a Final, Final poll. The only way the final hour could affect things is if Pokemon Sun/Moon just barely had a lead over FFXV heading into the final hour.

Anyways, 1697 votes at the end of the first hour. This poll will be on track to finish between 17000 and 20000 votes. The higher than expected upper bound takes into consideration potential rallying for this poll.

Does FF have a shot here

Based on trends, it absolutely has a shot to win today's poll. The rally potential of Pokemon is the only major thorn in FFXV's side that could halt its chances of winning today.

Miracle UC4 rally, let's go.

So while Pokemon is winning updates here and there, it seems inevitable that FFXV will take the lead at some point soon.

I'm not at all strong on GotY trends, but how close does it need to be for Pokemon to come back again with the day vote?

In yesterday's poll, Pokemon appeared to lose the day vote to FFXV. FFXV gained about 2% during the morning vote and day vote combined.

Pokemon doesn't have the same kind of day vote you would expect from Zelda or Smash Bros.

No, but I would've really thought that it would still be significantly better in NA than Europe.

Pokemon's stalling game is pretty impressive.

Although that huge 21 vote cut might mean FFXV takes the lead before the end of this hour. This is the hour where FFXV has finally started making some actual progress in cutting through the lead.

Well, we're deep in to the dead hours by now, but morning should come soon enough, which at least judging by the map should help out Pokemon.

In theory, you would expect the morning vote to favor Pokemon Sun/Moon again because they're leading in the US/Canada/Mexico and also because of Asia's voting influence becoming less important as they start going to sleep in a few hours. From yesterday's poll, what ended up happening is FFXV gained a lot of percentage in the US/Canada/Mexico during the morning vote in sharp contrast to the early voting from those countries. This change in voting from the US/Canada/Mexico enabled FFXV to gain about 2% during the morning and day vote combined.

How close were Sun and Moon to Final Fantasy XV at this point of the poll yesterday?

At 5:45 AM EST, FFXV had 20.43%. It finished the poll with 22.37%, a gain of almost 2% over what it at this point yesterday. This was mostly driven by changes in how the US/Canada/Mexico voted vs. how they voted during the first few hours of the poll.

What about Sun and Moon?

I have a difficult time wrapping my head around that having the region mostly responsible for your success wake up be a bad thing, but maybe FFXV is just flat out the stronger game outside of the power hour.

Sun/Moon did lose some percentage, but it was less than 1% overall in the actual results. At 6:00 AM in yesterday's poll, Sun/Moon had 18.63% in the US and finished with a final percentage of 17.25%. A similar thing happened in Mexico (28.26% at 6:00 AM down to 20.34% by the end of the poll). Surprisingly, Sun/Moon gained percentage in Canada after 6:00 AM (from 13.26% to 14.01% by the end of the poll).

Pokemon took the lead.

Weak field or no, at least the final poll is one hell of a match.

Trends appear to be slightly different today. Although Sun/Moon has lost some percentage in the US during the morning/day vote, FFXV also hasn't gained much at the same time.

The lead has stalled at around 100 for hours.

Looks like Pokémon Sun and Moon is pulling off an Ash Ketchum. Seems like FFXV has got this.

FF15 leads by 4 votes. Still a bit too soon. Pokemon still has plenty of time to counterattack.

this match make me want a contest.

Votes per 5 minutes noticeable higher for both SM and FF15 for the last two updates.

Oh come on, we all know Pokemon will rally late. Mega Man beating Charizard was a miracle because everyone assumed Charizard would godmode late.

Looking at the FF15 and Pokemon SM GameFAQs boards, it sort of feels like the FF15 fanbase wants this more.
