I'm more concerned by the number of people who don't use a case for something so expensive. Even a cheap form-fitting case helps.

At the freeze, only 6% of the site has Oblivion as their favorite game. That probably puts it behind both Morrowind and Skyrim in terms of which game fans consider their favorite.

It was arguably the first big game the 360 got, and I'm pretty sure the reviews at the time were very high. It got a lot of attention from 360 and PC owners (and later to a lesser extent PS3 owners), plus I'm sure a ton of people who got into the series through Skyrim may have tried the game to see where the game came from.

Also not surprising Oblivion isn't a big favorite, as people either prefer the exploration and diverse environments of Morrowind or the streamlined gameplay of Skyrim. Oblivion is janky as f*** and has a terrible leveling system, and everything it improved on from Morrowind is further improved by Skyrim. Oblivion is the Brawl of its series.

Even though yesterday's poll was technically an ownership poll for Oblivion, all of the "Yes" options imply that you have played the game, so I treated the poll as a valid playrate poll. Oblivion ends up recording a playrate of 60.94% in yesterday's poll. The Board 8 wiki page on playrate has been updated with this new poll:

I fully agree, though some of the other things plays a part as well. Never look at critic scores though. And I never bother with demos either.

Another terrible poll because none of these things are "make it or break it" factors for me.

My make it or break it factor is how much uncensored dong the game has.

53.38% playrate for the original Resident Evil at the freeze. That's fairly impressive for the original.

The original Resident Evil finished with a playrate of 61.47% in yesterday's poll. That's even more impressive than the early vote, where it was only at 53.38% when the freeze kicked in. The Board 8 wiki page on this subject has been updated again:

Hmm, today's poll has an option for "None of them", unlike the poll from 2014 which did not have that option. Would be interesting to see if the addition of a "None of them" option actually improves the vote totals relative to what today's poll would be expected to get. I need to work out the calculations for what today's poll would be expected to get based on the polls from 2012 and 2014 and see what today's poll ultimately finishes with.

Having done the vote total projections on today's poll using both the 2012 and 2014 versions of this poll, the 2014 poll projects 19297 votes while the 2012 poll projects 18304 votes. Today's poll is underperforming both of those projections even with the addition of an option for "None of them", which should improve the vote totals by allowing more people to vote in the poll who might have been unable to vote in the 2014 version of the poll. But what I'm seeing here is the extra option isn't doing anything to improve the vote totals.

Today's poll got 1674 votes by the end of the first hour, so if it manages to reach 18000 votes today, that would put today's poll roughly on par with the projection that used the 2012 poll.

None of them could be a bit confusing because people might interpret differently whether it includes the PS3/360.

I just voted it assuming it was for PS4/XB1.

This. I don't buy games digitally unless they're exclusive to that. I think FFVII was my only purchase on PSN and Smash updates definitely cost more than that.

I probably still downloaded way more stuff on PSN, but it was all free stuff

153 votes at the freeze in today's poll. That's really terrible, though I remember the 2014 version of this poll also getting off to a slow start in vote totals. The 2014 poll had 1806 votes at the end of the first hour and finished with 23005 votes. I'd expect the vote totals to look better than this by the time we make it to the end of the poll.
