With
multiplatform games looking pretty bad in these system GotY polls so
far, perhaps Undertale has a shot at winning the PC poll without a

Considering
the low vote totals in these polls and the multi-way format, it
wouldn't even require a large rally to push Undertale into 1st place.
Even 1000 extra votes for Undertale could be enough to push it into 1st

Today's
poll has 1321 votes at the end of the first hour. That should put us
on track for 12000 to 14000 votes, which would be even better vote
totals than last year's Xbox One GotY Poll which barely broke 11000
votes. I would expect the PC poll to get better vote totals than the Xbox One poll, but probably not by a huge amount. Fallout
4 has some pretty big flaws that hold it back combined with coming out
on a pretty strong year in general for games. Plus Witcher 3 kinda
outclasses it in many areas to begin with. I know I was heavy on FO4 doing well a month or so ago but the hype's died down now and it's kinda been exposed (though it's still doing respectable enough, it's just not a top 3 game for this year, and possibly not even top 5). --- Got wrecked in the Guru by the dastardly DpObliVion! |
FO4
just passed W3 for first place today. FO4 also barely beat W3 for
second place in the PS4-GotY. I think it's been suggested W3 would do
best on the PC-GotY, but FO4 should still look good and there will be
the wildcard of Undertale too. If FO4 can win today and the PC-GotY, that eliminates Undertale and likely W3 from the overall-GotY; it'll be in prime position to win it all with the outside chance of Bloodborne in the way. If W3 can win today or the PC-GotY, we're gonna have some more 50/50 matches that might change day to day, especially if we go from the overall-GotY to the final-GotY. And again, Undertale...just hard to tell where its natural strength is now or if it gets any extra outside votes, but this format with the lower vote totals is perfect for it. My odds: Undertale: 40% FO4: 32% W3: 28% --- DpObliVion wins the contest and fills you with determination. My bracket had a bad time. |
The
Witcher 3 has only a 2 vote lead over Fallout 4 at the 12 hour mark in
today's poll. I'm guessing based on trends, Fallout 4 should have the

Undertale
got 33.44% against OoT among registered users. That's higher than what
SotN got among all voters (31.82%). It makes Undertale a decently strong
game even before rallying. Although, I do wonder how much of that

We
already discussed why Undertale's numbers were so high in the final,
compared to its initial matches. Something about a combo of not wanting a
repeat champion equaling Ocarina anti-votes + bandwagon votes + a lot
of tumblr users making accounts around that time (don't have hard data
on me, of course, but the sheer amount of new users on this board alone
during that time frame speaks volumes) = inflated registered user votes. If you want to take those registered user numbers at face value, than Mario World would stomp Ocarina. Wouldn't bet on that happening. I wouldn't take Undertale over Symphony of the Night pre-rally either. --- Video game companies don't care about you, so stop kissing their asses |
It
has been assumed by many people that Undertale was picking up votes
during the contest by people who haven't even played the game. Well,
the GotY polls are a completely different format and because they are
advertised as regular PotDs, people are going to vote more honestly in
the GotY polls and not vote for a game they haven't played. This means
Undertale won't be able to pick up votes from people who haven't played
the game. "lol x-stats" site doesn't have the GotD contest included, so it needs
to be updated to include the other 2010 contest and everything after
2010. Anyways, Undertale is basically winning this poll on natural strength right now as no rallies can be found anywhere yet. Although it's pretty funny to see it beat OoT in a contest match, but only barely stay ahead of Fallout 4 in a GotY poll. Also, just because Undertale can beat Fallout 4 in today's poll doesn't mean it will be able to do the same thing in the overall GotY poll. Fallout 4 in today's poll probably isn't getting a lot of votes from people who have played the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the game. Fallout 4 in the overall GotY poll won't have this issue and will get votes from anyone who has played the game, regardless of what system they played it on. I didn't play it until it was actually released, and I played it over a friend's place. Terran and Protoss campaigns were honestly really fun, but I despise what SC2 stands for. Any signs of stuffing? Seems pretty normal so far. FO4 has proven fallable since Bloodborne and (currently) Undertale are beating it...but they are system-exclusives too, not multi-platform. It has a fellow multi-platform game in W3 that has been competitive in every poll they shared, and W3 might even beat FO4 today. This is one of our most heated GotY-runs ever. 2013 was close between LoZ:LBW, TLoU, and Pokemon X/Y, and 2008 had SSBB, MGS4, and FO3.
