Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 1259
Scarlettail posted... This negative spin in Undertale's victory is weird. It accomplishes the objective of a new game winning the contest. This is its first contest, unlike OoT or Link. Really, it sheds some light onto the video game concept of the protagonist team winning on the first try. The reaction to all of this can be a legitimate type of what would happen if such protagonist teams went on to do what they do in their own games in real life. |
The
complaining on the board today is unreal. I figured the site had
already gotten most of it out of their system and had seen the way this
was all trending, but I guess that's a different level from pissing off
Zelda fans who are used to being top dog. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
I
think this augurs pretty well for the health of the site, actually.
There's not a ton of people rallying on reddit or tumblr for Undertale -
it means that people have gotten interested in the contest in its own
right and are coming organically. Most of those people are gonna split
once Undertale's won, but a few of them are going to stick around. On a related note, how much of a beatdown would this be if r/undertale had alowed rallies? (edited 12/15/2015 9:37:57 AM)report |

Anyway,
I just put up some rallies on facebook fan groups and they are getting
decent responses. And I messaged a couple of the pages that got in touch

Just in case, here's the most recent SBAllen post: SBAllen posted... I find it interesting that apparently only Undertale fans (and to a lesser extent, SSBM fans) are able to figure out this whole vote stuffing thing. It's also weird that Undertale had a ton of rallies and SSBM had rallies going to a lesser extent. I guess the rallies affected how many people could vote stuff. Since SSBM had smaller rallies, that somehow meant that fewer people could stuff whereas Undertale had significantly more rallies and therefore more people were able to stuff. I mean, that clearly makes more sense than Undertale's larger rallies resulting in significantly more votes and SSBM's smaller rallies resulting in more votes, but not as many as UT. And of course the lack of rallies for other games meant no vote stuffing for them, because only rallied games can be stuffed. Oh, except for the games that went up against Undertale, those games were also stuffed for. You can tell because they got more votes and those votes could only be because of stuffing and not just extra traffic from the rallies. This all makes complete, total sense right? |

wouldn't say a whole bunch of people are visibly pissed, but the
atmosphere of the entire site right now is probably much worse than
Link/Draven. You don't need 3 pages of complaint threads to feel the
dread of the user base. |

wow. The Zelda Universe page rallied (540k likes) and it apparently did
absolutely nothing. They posted it at 4am though so if it's mostly US
fans that could be why it didn't take off. Hopefully they will repost

Quotes from the /r/gaming post: I like LoZ OoT and I like Undertale but neither is "The best game ever" by a long shot. Why do you care? It's a meaningless popularity contest on a mediocre gaming website. Who cares? Everyone has different oppinions, unless someone claims Call of Duty is the best game of all time I'll leave my torch and pitchfork at home. Or you can stop being a baby. It's not nonsense, but a popular opinion that clashes with yours. You don't tell me what to do Who gives a s***. It's a meaningless popularity vote, nothing more nothing less. The brackets are s***tily designed and some of those games have no business being compared with one another. time to give up I guess. I can't believe 2 huge facebook pages with
470k likes and 560k likes rallying did absolutely nothing for OoT.
Before the match I thought just one of those would be enough to give OoT
the win. I do not understand how the skyward sword post during draven
