Just after seeing Undertale do this for six hours straight, only being able to keep that pace up for 4 updates is not gonna cut it.

You don't have to cut 150 every update to win. It was making consistent slow cuts before that, so unless we think Undertale has a better morning vote than Smash then it should continue to slow cut even if this burst does down.

Melee goes back to 500, but Undertale was at 430.

and i think melee runs out of gas first

like seriously there is no way Melee starts cutting like that and then BOOM INSTANTLY Undertale is there with 100 extra votes.

Backfire? As people RT and stuff (and most of this is on Twitter now), you are much less likely to only hit like-minded fans.

Maybe. Hard to say. I've been proven wrong with how little backfire we've seen in this contest.

Yeah Undertale simply doesn't have THAT many fans for the backfire rate to be that high.

Not even gonna front, that geolocation map looks unbelievably fishy.

I'm looking at China. 82% for ME3. 82% for Fallout 3. 58% for Mario World. 58% for Pokemon. 49% for Mario 64.

27% for Melee. Something is weird here, though maybe China only gives us like 40 votes per match or something.

This is really really fishy. Something is off here
There's definitely a bit of backfire rate going on there. As for Russia and whatnot, honestly, I do believe there was some % of vote stuffing for Undertale... like 2-4% - not like it really matters, the fandom could erase that easily even if it was removed.
Yeah I'm not buying the Undertale legitimacy anymore.

They became very unsubtle with it this time.

given undertale's margin of victories and how many raw votes that would represent it actually could matter

I'm not buying into conspiracy theories yet though.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/browse?category=6

I know this isn't a perfect proxy, but there are more topics on that board for Singapore than china.

So I'd guess the natural votals from China are extremely low to start with. Where it would look fishy is if their votals are a lot higher than in early rounds.

Surely Allen is easily able to check that, right?
---

Any chance Allen actually looks into it if we send lots of feedback tickets with solid reasons why this is fishy?

Yeah I've totally given up hope on him actually knowing when vote stuffing is going on, or caring enough to do anything about it.

This just became very obvious to anyone that's followed the contests for a while.

Plot twist, there isn't a single one Undertale voter.
It's all a bot.
Either that, or they are a hivemind, and the boat can find out exactly how many voted to fill up to reach the set number.
The longer Undertale goes with getting nearly identical updates, the more fishy it becomes. Especially given the timing. Because even there was a counter-tweet, you'd expect a spike rather than a consistent series of votals like this.

He has much more info than we do. I do trust that he and the people who run this site look into possible vote-stuffing, for legal reasons.

The issue is I'm positive there are some methods out there that are extremely hard to detect.

Well this is interesting. Undertale's creator had a tweet a while ago that didn't directly reference the contest, but it might be driving some votes. Though considering his tweet read "Melee's one of my favorite games ever so I'm feeling pretty win/win right now" it's hard to say which way it's driving votes.

I... doubt it.

Like he may make a topic (I doubt it unless things get weirder later) but it's not going to be because he gets pestered with feedback tickets (not something I'd suggest doing anyway.)

Does he even look at those over the weekend?

Melee gave its biggest haymaker of the match and Undertale was there, somehow, IMMEDIATELY with 150 extra votes per update to stop the bleeding and then start gaining again.
