Uhhhh, now that...whatever that was is over... You know, I don't actually think Hylian is all talk. I just think it's amazing that he is factoring in ZERO blowback in his actions. Didn't
surprise me the site crashed. We've had sustained insane traffic for
over an hour, during a time when GameFAQs surely is not beefy on the
servers like it used to be (why keep the same amount of support for
traffic down 50% vs 10 years ago). No other match in history pulled this

Even if I didn't do this, it's likely another smasher would, it's not like I alone have connections lol. The smash community is huge. I had this whole thing typed out before the crash, so I'll type it again in short. Aside from the first match to the second, we have no real evidence of Undertale rallies gaining in strength. Undertale has rallied a solid 40-50K votes every round. The consistency is fascinating for several reasons, but the most important one is that it bucks rally trends. Rallies are supposed to grow. This one isn't. Or, at least, we haven't seen it yet. What we have seen is the Undertale fans who are involved in this getting more invested. They're caring much more right now. We can see this in the nature of the Tumblr posts. Which, among other things, means that they are showing up earlier to vote. My point is that Undertale doing so well now is not necessarily an indication of an increase in strength. We saw against Mario 64 that it tailed off. I don't think the well is bottomless. I think that there is a limited voter pool and it's entirely possible that it isn't more than 60-70K extra voters. Which means that if Melee keeps rallying, combined with its natural advantage on GameFAQs, I have a feeling that the afternoon comeback could be swinging the other way tomorrow. I have no idea if this theory is right, and I can't really prove it, but it's not crazy, is it? And it follows the evidence chain pretty well. --- Raytan7585 is better than me at redditFAQs |

Also,
that was most certainly not a DDOS. We(smashboards) have had similar
crashes when nintendo directs release that have made us upgrade servers
because of condensed site traffic crashing the site. I'm sure this is
similar, it's very unlikely a DDOS got past gamefaqs cloudflare and then
