Contest Stats and Discussion - Part 1250
I didn't even remember Kratos's 2013 matches until I just now looked them up. I was thinking back on 45% on Charizard in 2010. So yeah, maybe not Kratos. It's a pretty big dropoff after the first 3 though. --- http://i.imgur.com/3DwCNLJ.gif |
ROUND 5 – DAY 2 – BOTTOM OF BRACKET Match CXXIII: (1) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time vs. (1) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Previous Rounds The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 91.03% against Hearthstone 76.89% against Suikoden II 64.96% against Final Fantasy IX 68.18% against Castlevania: Symphony of the Night The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 88.02% against Cave Story 65.45% against Final Fantasy IV 70.58% against Dark Souls 52.39% against The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Analysis After struggling so hard to defeat Majora’s Mask there isn’t much of a chance for Link to the Past to defeat the strongest Zelda game. The rally spillover last round favoured Majora’s Mask so much that it took the lead for a little while. While the two games aren’t completely connected to the hip it does seem relatively safe to say that Ocarina of Time would get a more favourable performance, not that it needs it. The other main question would be whether Ocarina of Time can SFF Link to the Past. The last time they met was in 2009 and there was heavy SFF though circumstances at the time required it. This time there is less incentive for SFF to occur and for the most part in this contest SFF has been kept to a minimum. This will probably end up looking like FFVII/FFVI where Ocarina of Time will overperform slightly. charmander6000’s Bracket: LoZ: Ocarina of Time > LoZ: Link to the Past charmander6000’s Prediction: LoZ: Ocarina of Time wins, 61.32% - 38.68% Match CXXIV: (9) Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars vs. (3) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Previous Rounds Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars 54.43% against The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 57.20% against Grand Theft Auto V 60.74% against Chrono Cross 55.53% against Resident Evil 4 Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 69.50% against Mother 3 52.03% against BioShock 60.64% against Mass Effect 2 51.86% against Metal Gear Solid Analysis Well this is a bit of a surprising match-up. Super Mario RPG was able to make Resident Evil 4 look weaker than Oblivion while MGS3 went against conventional rankings and defeated MGS. In this match it comes down to whether or not you think Resident Evil 4 is as strong as it was before. I still think Resident Evil 4 is legit and it is Super Mario RPG just being a strong game. The Metal Gear Solid 2/Shadow of the Colossus comparison predicted MGS3/MGS quite well and that assumed a Resident Evil 4 relatively equal to Metal Gear Solid 3. Of course RE4’s other performances place it at around its 2010 strength as well. Rally spillover will probably help Super Mario RPG given the games being rallied. Out of all of the Mario games I didn’t expect this one to be the only one reaching the semi-finals, but here we are. It is kind of funny that this quarter bracket was designed so a non-Nintendo/Square game could win it yet one of the few Nintendo/Square games that was on this side ends up winning it. charmander6000’s Bracket: Metal Gear Solid > Resident Evil 4 charmander6000’s Prediction: Super Mario RPG wins, 55.89% - 44.11% --- BGE3: Today's Matches FFVII > CT, SM64 > Pokemon RBYG Points 195/256 |

I've been going to tournaments since 2003, have made top 32 at multiple nationals, taken tournament sets off some of the best players in the world(tyrant/dojo/lain/etc), etc etc. This was for brawl, but I am also good at melee and certainly better than Viviff as melee is currently the only smash game I play. --- www.twitch.tv/Hylian88 www.twitter.com/Hylian88 |

In
all of Undertale's matches so far, it has failed to win Canada. The
primary reason for this is Quebec, where Undertale performs much worse
there than any other province. I guess Tumblr doesn't have a very large
Canada demographic and a nearly non-existent Quebec demographic. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

does not have a French-language localization yet, nor does it have a

RPGlord95 posted... Is the game available in French? There are strict laws in Quebec about language. Well, Undertale is a digital-only game, so I doubt Quebec's laws would prevent Undertale from being sold there. These matches were far more boring than I expected. Hopefully Melee vs Undertale produces something more exciting. |

I'm a regular on Smashboards, and as I main Link in the games I come across posts by Hylian every so often. I think he was involved in the development of Project M (Lueshi rest its soul) and he has a bunch of matches on YouTube. He had a pretty mean Brawl Link in the day, and was one of the drivers of that low tier's meta game along with players like Izaw. a lot of English speaking people from Quebec, especially around

Mario
did surprisingly well for itself. It kept up with Undertale all day,
gained more votes than FF7 and almost made as many as Pokemon. Good job,

sure the Undertale ralliers will take the Melee match more seriously,

I post on B8 pretty much every time there is a contest, though I lurk mostly so I doubt many remember me, but I've been around for awhile. Viviff would certainly beat 99.99% of smashers on gamefaqs in brawl/smash4(there are some good melee players here), but gfaqs isn't a very good skill metric as most of the players are casual(which is perfectly fine :P) so obviously a tournament goer would have an advantage. Edit: Also he would certainly beat me in smash4, as I only entered like one tournament for smash4 before quitting two weeks in. I'm very confident I would win in brawl however, not that it matters anymore as brawl is super dead lol. --- www.twitch.tv/Hylian88 www.twitter.com/Hylian88 (edited 12/11/2015 8:55:11 PM)report |
