BioShock was pretty legit, subtract a few percent points due to rallies and it's pretty close to what it got against Kingdom Hearts II

Mother 3 just shows that emulation is still alive and well.

If we make SotC = MGS2 and MGS3 = RE4 then MGS3 was expected to get 50.95% on MGS. We could get pretty close to that if trends continue the way they have.

But that was still at the height of its popularity. We saw Infinite tank, so that couldn't have contributed to the OG's strength. And even than, Infinite came out 2 years ago. What I mean is, why is Bioshock STILL legit?

Let's see, it didn't do very well against a game that didn't do very well against Resident Evil 4, a game that it turns out everyone was overestimating. I don't know if it 'tanked', but it didn't show that it could the source of some sort of Bioshock Renaissance.

Also, do you think it's possible that the later we get the stronger MGS gets? I'm at a loss to describe this sudden stall other than voters who aren't specifically coming here to vote prefer mgs1. Like maybe the voters who "care more" about who wins slightly favour mgs3 because they feel it is the underrated masterpiece of the series. I dunno.

Back when we had trends the newer games tends to have better morning/ASV over their older games because it is more likely that kiddies have played the former. It's one of the reasons why KH2 and Brawl won over KH and Melee.

Two decent cuts... Lowest lead in 6 hours. Expecting mgs3 to gain back though.

I know mgs3 usually follows a sinking pattern, but does it's strength usually continue past the power hour like it did today? It didn't drop much last round or round 1. And MGS itself usually follows the pattern a bit.

Maybe the top/left option factor is coming into play as well. Its effect is miniscule but in a stall like this it can make the difference.

Man, some of the people complaining about SMRPG winning are coming off as completely clueless. Presumably European and haven't played it? I guess I'll have to enlightenment them here.

Super Mario RPG may have Nintendo characters but it was NOT developed by Nintendo! If you're going to whine, you should do it against Square. You know, the guys who created the strongest game in Europe on this site? And while SMRPG was a relatively popular game at the time and all, it's not like it was a mega hit or got massive amounts of advertising.

A more valid complaint about SMRPG winning might be that it was "baby's first RPG" for a lot of the gamefaqs demographic and is winning because of nostalgia. I do think that's probably true, though it doesn't take away from what the game does well. And we're on gamefaqs after all - nostalgia is already at least half the battle. Final Fantasy VII and Pokemon RBY are top 5 games on the site and have the same thing going for them, it's not too surprising that SMRPG would get a good boost from it.

Also, I don't agree with the idea that SMRPG won't be favored by tumblr spillover next round just because most of them are too young to have played it. You really think a large portion of the Undertale crowd have played Metal Gear Solid games - or Resident Evil 4, for that matter? After the way they absolutely buried games like Uncharted 2 against anything cutesy or with familiar mascots like Sonic 2? In 2015, the fact that Super Mario RPG has Mario in the name isn't relevant to deciding many regular gamefaqs users' votes (If you think otherwise, I bet you picked Mario Maker to win its fourpack!) - but that's probably a much bigger deal for tumblr voters who won't be familiar with either game. I kind of doubt the current result would actually flip if the Undertale stuff had never happened but I bet RE4 would have been closer.

Remaining spillover or attention from the people who came here from the Melee and Pokemon RBY rallies probably favors SMRPG too. Besides just the Nintendo overlap, I remember "Geno for Smash" being a very long running never-gonna-happen character request.

MGS1 has been stalling for the vast majority of the match, it winning updates isn't new. MGS3 was up 701 votes only 2 hours in and its highest lead was 939.

So the votes haven't really changed much then, I wonder what that's going to mean for later then, under a thousand votes isn't that massive of a lead, so we will see, just under 13 hours is still a lot of time.

The whole SMRPG thing strikes me as funny as it was actually possible to play it in the pal region, there was a trick of course.

The main issue with NTSC games was that the cartdriges where different, they literally would not fit inside our SNES, however there was an adaptor that allowed those games to fit inside the console, something like this

The thing wasn't rare either, and there where videoclubs that had NTSC games that used that adapter (Good luck trying to get Chrono Trigger, everyone wanted that one)

I played SMRPG as a child and enjoyed the heck out of it, however I though that RE would have been way more popular in NA and that it would run with the match. Having SMRPG winning makes me happy.

I'll have 6 if MGS pulls a miracle.

It all depends how the ASV breaks. MGS1 needs to pull about 51.7% of the vote the rest of the way. That's a very small shift from the current 50.5 and not impossible.

Yes, he was weak a few years later and was equal to f***ing Lloyd, but it doesn't mean Bioshock itself lost strength
Bioshock is supposed to be strong and it's result was just as expected, the fact that infinite bombs is because it's pretty much the most overrated game of 2013 and many people realized it once the dust has settled
