I think the effects of undertale have been a little overstated on placement for prizes. Eh, I said this from the beginning. Even when Draven and L-Block won, there were still people who didn't have them winning who were in contention for prizes (I nearly won a prize the year L-Block won, for instance). The odds of you winning first place are practically zero now if you wanted that big grand prize, but still, you still have a chance to win something. --- http://i.imgur.com/3DwCNLJ.gif |

Unless ten people picked undertale to win it all and are sitting 90 points back just waiting to shoot up despite the rest of their bracket being s***. 2013 was won by Draven-pickers, wasn't it? --- All the stars in the sky are waiting for you. |
On rallies, my stance is pretty simple - it's rallies that flip the result that are bad. A small rally is bad too, if it flips the result. A counter-rally that resets to the original result is fine. Using another game's small rally that doesn't flip the result, to then justify a larger rally, is *not* alright. I mean I don't like rallies that shift the percentage a lot either, but they're not so bad if they don't change the outcome. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |
Even
disregarding all rallies (which, based on the spillover, LttP might be
shockingly bad at), Link to the Past didn't look commandingly strong
this contest. Failing to double FFIV isn't good when you're trying to
make the case for being Nintendo's clear #2. Super Mario 64 almost took the game down in 2009 and I didn't see anything to make me doubt that it could at least give LttP another good run in a fair 1-on-1. People were calling for Mario 64's head against Twilight Princess thanks to that picture, Zelda > Mario hierarchy, and whatever else; instead it simply brushed the game aside. --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] |
Mario
64 could probably have won in 2K9 with a good enough pic advantage.
That result was within even modest pic advantage range IMO. How much SFF did LttP suffer against OoT if you use set LttP at 54% on MM? LeonhartFour posted... https://twitter.com/FwugRadiation/status/673916315313262593 What is this regarding? I don't see anything about 7% on that page. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |
Zelda
in general didn't look too dominating this year. LTTP had FF4, MM had
Super Metroid, Ocarina had FF9, TP put up no fight against Mario 64. WW
might have come out the most impressive due to how it did against FF6,
but yeah. --- satoru iwata |

We
are going to pass the final total for OOT/FFIX within the next 2
updates. The spillover for this match is massive, make no mistake. The
extra votes are probably going to wind up around 65% of the extra votes
in the CT/SSBM match, which featured SSBM and CT giving it their all.
Based on normal trends, the Melee rallying swung around 14% in that
match, with CT rallying getting 1% back. Majora's hourly percentages have moved with a strong correlation to estimated spillover the whole day. We could still see LTTP at 60% with no spillover here, the extra votes are quite enough for that. In the morning, when LTTP was pulling in 57%, a sixth of the votes were still spillover. Also, it may be that some of the spillover is Gamefaqs users being more excited about the contest. That's fine, but it's still effectively spillover, because it was directly generated by the last two days' results. --- September 1, 2003; November 4, 2007; September 2, 2013 NEVER FORGET. Maybe I'm blind but I don't see any link there to a poll result? I do see someone mentioning 30% saw it from Let's Play. Does it specify if they eventually played the game, or just watched a video? see nothing wrong with watching games instead of playing them. Of

really wonder what 2002 would have been like without that crazy

Does
Tumblr like Resident Evil 4 or Metal Gear Solid 1/3 more? It seems like
the spillover from Undertale vs Mario 64 will have an effect on

I don't think it's that bad >_> Problem is that I think Tumblr voters might be more pic sensitive than us. Especially since they'd have NO awareness of which games are even in the bracket. They might be confused sometimes without text subtitles. Team Rocket Elite posted... Does Tumblr like Resident Evil 4 or Metal Gear Solid 1/3 more? Considering how they treat SMW and aLttP, I assume SMRPG will be on the losing end among the four games? Yes I think they'd favor RE4. And even minor spillover can flip results if the magnitude is great enough. I think both these matches will be close. Also,
MGS3's pic isn't as good as last round, yeah. It's too "busy." Nothing
in particular really jumps out at you like two big pics of Big Boss and

it's better than MGS1's pic, but not by as big of a margin as it would
have been if they'd reused MGS3's last round pic, too. --- http://i.imgur.com/3DwCNLJ.gif |
I really just don't want Ocarina of Time to win overall this year. Again. It might've been great at the time but now, ugh. |

I would probably be swayed by the match pic here were I not already being swayed by my bracket I'm not really sure which of MGS1 and MGS3 I like more. I suspect it's 3, but man. Both games are so good. --- I don't know how much you know about women, but Dr. Pizza is an expert. - The Mana Sword |
Team Rocket Elite posted... OoT isn't winning. Undertale is pretty much locked in as the contest winner right now. Things are much more uncertain than that. Those crazy updates vs. RBY made me think it could beat OoT, but OoT will have advantages over RBY more than just base power. The base power difference itself will account for a few thousand votes, and even moreso with increased finals votals. Plus the site banner. And the expected Pokemon rallying may or may not have helped, it wasn't clear. Zelda may or may not rally better. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

It was only 3600 votes. Almost 6000 less than the margin against SMW. I'm starting to get a little torn by this.....Link actually stopping a rally would be amazing, but I also really want to see CT in a bonus poll. Okay so guys.. without pic factor... what do you think about tomorrow's match? Has MGS ever been in fourways or SFF matches with other MGS games? I cant recall. I think MGS has like a 55-45 advantage indirectly, but I was talking to my buddy today who is a huge MGS fan and he says it's definitely possible rSFF could happen within the fandom. He likened MGS3 to Star Wars ESB. where the original was far more popular and a phenomenon, but the sequel got the "masterpiece" devotion from the fanbase (we've seen that on Board8 too). He personally prefers MGS1 though. --- http://www.last.fm/user/VinnyMendoza "This is all we have... when we die.." |

DaruniaTheGoron posted... Okay so guys.. without pic factor... what do you think about tomorrow's match? rSFF shouldn't happen. Also, MGS3 might even just be flat stronger on GameFAQs. I doubt this but it's possible. --- www.gamefaqscontests.com www.gamefaqscontests.com/gallery |

I think tumblr will be less than 3000 votes of the total. I also agree that Zelda is a totally different beast btw. There are facebook groups with 30000 fans in them that are active.
