Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. I see people talking about how FF7 has no shot vs. Melee. Some don't seem to grasp how rallies are ao unpredictable, I think. Not only their size, but their backfire rate is very important. Rallies also depend very much on how the pitch is made, and by whom. Not all e.g. Reddit posts are equal - some pitch better, and something from a respected regular or community leader will mean more than random nobody. Melee barely beat CT. FINE I will calculate it myself Pokemon average vote per update per hour - 1 - 442.666 2 - 286.333 3 - 226.333 4 - 170.916 5 - 134.25 6 - 135.41 7 - 172.66 8 - 206.41 9 - 241.08 10 - 233.83 11 - 224.25 12 - 216.41 13 - 213.75 Using the last 4 hours , we have 222 votes per update on average With 132 more updates to go, Pokemon will gain 29304 votes, and will finish with 64156 Assuming the same Undertale from SMW match...it got only 20935 votes from the 13 hour to the end of the match, which is less than Pokemon is projected to get Using the Fallout 3 match, it got 32148 votes during this time And using ME3 match, it got only 20398 Now the hard part is using this data and altering it to this match, when the vote totals are much higher and so does Pokemon vote intake, so we need to give Undertale a higher number as well but I don't know how to do it --- 3DS FC : 3411-1762-0066 |

I see people talking about how FF7 has no shot vs. Melee. I believe Hylian when he says that CT is more popular than FFVII among the competitive Melee crowd. It matches up with my experience of reading Smashboards over the years- there is a surprising amount of CT stuff. Remember, these are competitive Smash players, they are serious enough about gaming that CT generally is not going to be too obscure for them to have heard about. Reddit rally posts seem to be all or nothing though - either it will get upvoted to the top of the subreddit and it will be full strength, or it won't catch fire and it doesn't, in which case it will barely produce anything. We saw the Melee rally fall apart against CT in the closing hours as the reddit post slided down the page, until Smashboards intervened with the last ditch Facebook/Twitter rally. --- September 1, 2003; November 4, 2007; September 2, 2013 NEVER FORGET. |

I can only imagine that Melee is going to get antivoted to oblivion from at least Board 8 for c***blocking Chrono Trigger. I don't know if you can just say CT is more popular than FFVII among Melee fans. FFVII was just such a huge game that I doubt CT would be more popular among Melee fans, especially since it only came out a few years before Melee.
