Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. hope CT wins because f*** rallies but it's not going to happen. Rallies
don't generally lose close matches because they will find the extra
votes when needed. CT needed to build a substantial lead and hold on,
which very likely won't happen now |

dunno if this is a factor for overall increased vote totals but for

Realistically,
whenever a game needs like "X vote cuts per update to make up 1000
votes", how often does that actually happen? It seems like that's such a
big gap and after a while, excluding rallies, it would stay constant by

Well yes, but it's getting close enough where CT might still pull it out if only because the melee scene in general loves CT. I promise you there are a lot of melee players voting for CT lol. The rally that tried to start in Melee Hell(a facebook group with 9K members that love melee) kind of got shut down. A lot of the comments were "but CT is better than melee" and the like. Then you also have the smash4/brawl players who will most likely vote for CT and those will be coming in from the rallies as well. contest beginns to be not interesting anymore. Stupid popularity
destroys best games ever....... BEST gameplay quality should win and not
best popular game..... what kind of contest is that?? That's restricted
and that's simply unfair ....... but if Chrono Trigger and FFVI will
lose, I vote for Undertale only ;) If you want an unfair contest, then
properly! ;) |

Well
CT ran out into an 794 vote lead in the opening 35 minutes. Granted
that's very front loaded but that's the sort of gap you were looking at
between CT/Melee without the rally. Those sort of vote swings do happn but not generally when the opponent is rallying because once it gets in doubt the opponent tends to rally a buffer or stall out (edited 12/7/2015 4:27:08 PM)report |

Really
CT's best hope is not to steadily cut, it needs to make big gains
quickly so it has time for the inevitable stalls. And hopefully the
stalls happen at a lower % rather than high enough where it effectively
ends the comeback It definitely needs to be carving off upwards of 300 votes an hour to stand any chance imo. At least for like 2 hours or so. (edited 12/7/2015 4:30:20 PM)report |
