Ocarina was really anti-voted with Suikoden II. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of that here.

Honestly, I think DKC2's official art is tremendous, and looked better than anything I was doing with the sprites.

Yes! SOTN's sprites are nothing on that classic DKC2 art. I love that look.

Skyrim's lead has been getting stalled out for the past hour or so. Is someone trying to rally for Metroid Prime right now?

Which Metroid Prime?

The one that went 50/50 with HL2 or the one that went 58/42 on HL2?

I still say the intervening years really cut into HL2. Steam guides are now the method of choice to get walkthroughs for PC gamers, which directly competes with gamefaqs but is only useful to the PC crowd. I haven't been paying much attention as to whether PC games have dropped across the board, though.

Vinateri was using his god powers on the Pats and then was like "Wait I'm a Colt now lol" and now you have it.
I was really expecting Prime to win this match solely on the basis of it being a very well liked Metroid game and also being unsure about Skyrim's strenght. Looks like I was wrong.

And I knew I shouldn't have ever listened to you guys about TP having even a sliver of a chance in this :P
So, is Mario 64 stronger than FF VI, is TP just weaker than WW or is this just SFF in action?

SFF is the easy answer, but I think that the brilliant WWHD release made a lot of people change their minds about that game, and it might be slighly stronger then TP now.

As for SM64 vs. FFVI, I think Mario has a very small step up on Final Fantasy, but that's more a gut feeling than anything else.

One last pair of numbers to keep an eye on in SuikogearStats: FFIX needs 33.91% on OoT to be equal to Wind Waker. It needs 36.67% on OoT to be equal to FFVI.

ROUND 3 – DAY 5 – ALL OF DIVISION 5

Match CV: (1) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time vs. (4) Final Fantasy IX

Previous Rounds

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
91.03% against Hearthstone
76.89% against Suikoden II

Final Fantasy IX
51.09% against Kingdom Hearts
57.85% against Okami

Analysis

While Playstation SFF was always possible between Final Fantasy VII and Suikoden II back in 2004 it’s quite surprising on the extent of it. Ocarina of Time is in no danger of losing any time soon, but like Link in 2010 it is probably more likely that Ocarina of Time no longer 60/40s the entire field outside of a couple of games.

Final Fantasy IX has done well in this contest, but it was never going to have a chance against Ocarina of Time. This match will be a good comparison on to what Ocarina of Time is worth on the Game of the Decade field. I feel people are going to be a bit disappointed on Ocarina of Time for not tripling Final Fantasy IX or something, but in hindsight it will likely have a decent performance.

charmander6000’s Bracket: LoZ: Ocarina of Time > Final Fantasy IX

charmander6000’s Prediction: LoZ: Ocarina of Time wins, 69.12% - 30.88%

Match CVI: (14) Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest vs. (2) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Previous Rounds

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest
50.36% against Xenoblade Chronicles
52.11% against Fire Emblem: Awakening

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
74.99% against Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations
60.61% against Banjo-Kazooie

Analysis

SotN was always the big favourite to reach the division final, but there were several games that people thought had a chance to cause an upset, though most of those thoughts are now gone. Castlevania: SotN has been one of those quiet stars of the contest. It’s performance over the last two rounds suggest it getting pretty close to a top 20 game (most likely it’ll finished as a top 30).

In a four-pack that was heavily debated Donkey Kong Country 2 was the game to emerge from it. As well as the game did you have to concede that it only reached this stage on the weakness of its opponents. The main question for this match is whether or not Donkey Kong Country 2 will outperform Banjo-Kazooie.

Despite two rounds we really have no idea on Donkey Kong Country 2’s strength. Before the contest I thought Xenoblade Chronicles would be a slightly weaker Tales of Symphonia, but with the way Wii U games have performed it is likely much weaker. A better comparison would be using Fire Emblem. I feel Awakening would be stronger than the GBA game and it got around 40% on Star Wars: KotOR.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Banjo-Kazooie > Donkey Kong Country 2

charmander6000’s Prediction: Castlevania: SotN wins, 58.78% - 41.22%

BGE3: Today's Matches TESV: Skyrim > Metroid Prime, SM64 > LoZ: TP
Points 127/152
I'm actually impressed with MP today. It did a lot better after the deep night vote than I thought. It only dropped like 3% after the power hour compared to 6% in the previous two rounds. I thought it would lose by 1000-1500 votes.

Maybe a product of higher votals.

Great match here. I'm with pj -- loved Metroid Prime and barely played Skyrim, but it's nice to see Skyrim is realizing its potential too.

Metroid's had a heck of a run this contest, though its run ends soon with Majora's Mask.

I vaguely entertain Super Metroid over Majora's Mask, then I look over at Super Mario 64 with a piddly sub-57% on a third-tier Zelda and reality snaps back to me with a crushing impact.
