let me down. Man, I totally forgot that Fallout 3 beat Metroid Prime in
GotD despite picking Fallout 3 to win its Quarterfinal match for that
contest, and I had MP losing to HL2 at that. Oh sure, I picked Mario Galaxy to win over Super Metroid because of RESEARCH but didn't do the same for Metroid Prime, goddammit. I've played both, MGS3 is great but ME2 is better. |

Kojima has some neat ideas and themes, but the dialogue and exposition is just so f***ing bad. And half-hour cutscenes completely ignore a video game's potential to communicate without words, or without taking control from the player. One thing I'll give big props for is the big WTF moments. this was not a debated match until recently! I consider this a great
performance from Prime rather than Skyrim. It's nice to see Metroid
getting some love this contest after a really disappointing contest

I had Skyrim in the Oracle despite OldFAQs. I think most were split pretty evenly, but Skyrim was impressive vs. Goldeneye. GOTD stats have held up pretty well against each other. They even forecast CT's round 2 and 3 performances. It's just that old games were stronger vs. GOTD games than we expected. UltimaterializerX posted... 2 is what really establishes Kojima as an artist. ...I have no problems at all understanding why some champion MGS2 that way, but I just felt like I was on drugs playing it last year (and yes Ulti that was where I got the bright idea of joking about you being on drugs, oops) and that makes me want to bash the game's fans as being rather pretentious. I still really enjoyed the game (mostly the gameplay, but I was still able to get invested enough in the story to care about what was going on) and would say it isn't much worse than any other MGS game at all. A solid 9/10 game. But yeah MGS2 high art no thank you. MGS2 is one of the most prescient games ever created Its story was about government organizations using the massive amounts of information on the internet to dictate what people think through censorship and information control. It was released in 2001 --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |

Yeah
2 I'll give some credit, since it definitely has some really cool and
inventive ideas behind it, though I still feel the execution was flawed.

point is there are certainly some stats to look at though. You don't

Going
back to MGS2 I jumped into the game right after finishing the original.
No matter how much you like the game you have to admit it was a
massive prank. And me feeling like I was on drugs playing it is unfortunately what comes to mind first in regards to MGS2, and makes me get a little angry at those who constantly champion it as some great work of art. --- "Nothing I could do!" -Darksydephil |

Prime is probably more consistent. Facto in lower vote totals and you have Prime beating HL2 by a bigger %. 100k votals vs 50k votals. 100k Prime beats HL2 51-49. 50k it beats it 58-42. IF you halve the votals even more Prime probably doubles it. You have to factor in who comes on this site more...people who are more likely have played Prime or HL2 and people who will vote prime over HL because Samus is in it. Skyrim would be stronger than FO3 5 years ago and would 55-45 Prime easily. IT's just a far more popular game that sold more and was accessible to more people. (edited 12/2/2015 1:22:46 PM)report |

be the closest Skyrim has to a decent voting block, but once the kids go
