not 100% sold on this one yet. Probably not even 90%. Undertale
getting a bigger push than last round tomorrow afternoon is likely, but

It's true that the rally could stumble, but cutting 2200 votes is much easier than cutting 6800. The rally didn't get going again against Fallout for 9 hours from this point. In 9 hours, absent rallying (and the current wave hasn't quite died off yet- vote intake is still coming in a lot higher than yesterday) SMW would probably have a bigger lead than 6800. Undertale's got 44% of the vote four hours in. I don't... know exactly what you expect to happen here that could save SMW. Tumblr crashing and going down for the rest of the day? The percentages don't matter here nearly as much as the votals, and most importantly, backfire rate. SMW is 1100 behind Fallout, but there have been 5900 more votes in this match (and there was already a significant amount of rallying in the Fallout match). SMW's backfire rate looks like it's substantially higher than Fallout's was, which is why it's only 1100 behind Fallout despite this first wave rally being much more powerful than the one against Fallout. SMW needs to get a backfire rate in the 28-30% area, and have the rally in the afternoon not be any bigger than last round. Considering that the lead will likely be smaller then against FO3 (but SMW might steal more votes) who would you say is the favorite if Undertale gets a rally with the same strength as against FO3 last time (let's also say it starts at the same time). Undertale swung 16,000 votes in the last 11 hours against Fallout. That portion of the match gets around 37% of the total votes for the day on Gamefaqs normally. Thus, a naive calculation based on Fallout's 6800 lead is that it would continue at that rate and gain an additional 4000 or so votes on Gamefaqs naturally over the course of the day, which would mean that Undertale pulled in 20,000 net from rallying in the last 11 hours of the poll. This is not quite right because Undertale did some smaller scale rallying in the early part of that match too, albeit not nearly as big as tonight. There were about 8500 extra votes compared to the day before Fallout/Undertale by 1 PM. I think various people's calculations have yielded a backfire rate for Fallout around 20%. That would yield a net of 5100 for Undertale before the big push in the afternoon. In turn, that would mean that Fallout was winning on Gamefaqs by around 11,900 at 1 PM- and gained an additional 7000 on Gamefaqs in the last 11 hours of the poll. Thus, Undertale's actual net gain from the rally in the last 11 hours of the poll against Fallout was approximately 23,000 votes. Now, backfire rate. If you increase the backfire rate from 20% to 30%, you cut the power of the rally by a full third. 23,000 becomes 15,000 or so. Meanwhile, our natural votals are about 20% higher this round, and SMW does a little better on Gamefaqs than Fallout, so the 7000 that FO3 won over the last 11 hours on Gamefaqs becomes something like 9000. Which means that that monster swing of 16,000 votes gets cut down to a much more tame 6,000 votes, assuming the afternoon rally has equal power this round. It's hard to tell what the backfire rate is now and what it was with Fallout. The above numbers are on the generous side to SMW. But backfire is absolutely key to this, it's how Link stood up to a monster that displayed enough power to easily double him. --- September 1, 2003; November 4, 2007; September 2, 2013 NEVER FORGET. |

I'm just saying that to one used to speaking his mind freely in places like 4chan and Reddit, GameFAQs's moderation policy is in fact quite strict. And that's even when you don't use any of the problematic words. I myself can't remember ever having used the R-word as an insult on GameFAQs, but just saying "you're stupid" is often enough to get modded. |

problem isn't the moderation staff it's just that "offensive" shouldn't
be a grounds to moderate your posts to begin with. The mods are

Mario is making some insane gains lately. You could argue it's still winning for less than the other 2 games were at this point, but you could also argue that the Undertale rally has spent more of its fuel at this point, and it won't grow a lot more than already did. Then again, the same argument was used to justify Fallout not being beaten by Undertale. But I still think that argument was valid, and we just need a game strong enough to capitalize on the fact the Undertale fanbase isn't that big. WIll Mario be that game? Perhaps.
