Magus has been an abomination, if nothing else. Crono did get an unfortunate draw. It's almost kind of shameful that Allen set up CBIX as a weird "Noble Nine" tribute and then sabotaged a couple of them with bad draws. Shulk
got 34% on Altair, Tharja got 31% on Shepard in the match where the
latter beat Aeris. Based on that, Tharja having been stronger seems
obvious. And most of the evidence for a supposed Chrono Trigger decline after 2007 consists of losses to Pokemon, jokes, or Pokemon jokes, none of which qualify as meaningfully bad performances. Frog actually looked pretty good in 2013! Not sure if red is around, but I saw in the last topic (haven't read much since last night) he said this: Also, remember when I estimated LTTP to get 58% on FFX and a bunch of people yelled at me saying it was way too high? The
issue I have with the Vita remake hurting FFX so much is thinking so
many people played the Vita. Is it available for the PS3/4 too? Maybe
then... ...but still, if remakes could hurt the original so much, I would expect this of other games too. SM64DS comes to mind, surely some more remakes and ports have disappointed. FFX's situation is a remake of a Sony game ~13 years after its release that stayed with Sony. It's not on Steam. That game has stuck with Sony through and through. And if people want to make the argument that these remakes and remasters don't benefit a game, I can't possibly imagine it hurting one that badly, to the point that it gets doubled in what was originally a debated match. --- Video game companies don't care about you, so stop kissing their asses |

I don't think the idea here is getting first timers. It would be more like changing people's view on the game. So someone who maybe liked WW, or maybe thought it was just okay, plays WWHD and comes away more positive about the game. Not saying it's necessarily what happened, but anyone mentioning it probably means that, and not that anyone was playing it for the first time. --- satoru iwata |
Well,
the Mario World/FFVIII match is a tainted result regardless of how you
look at it. Mario World probably gets 64%~ if the rally doesn't kick
into overdrive, but the rally was there the whole time so we don't
really know what FFVIII would get otherwise. Could've netted another

aside from Draven killing MMX, this is the worst defeat a guru favorite
has ever suffered, right? I mean FFX is getting beaten even worse than
Groose. Only thing I can think of is if Wesker was somehow the favorite

Maybe it dropped, though I don't see what's so hard to accept about CT being beastly. I think GOTD stats indicate CT to get 67.5% on MM based on R&C, and 64% on DQ8. It got about the average of that on FFX. Basically Melee is screwed. Otherwise FFX dropped. Obviously it has no chance of actually winning, barring some miracle rally. If it breaks 40's that's a big moral victory. Sadly that would make FFX look terrible. But Melee may well score even lower than FFX. It's also worth noting that there are some issues with GameFAQ's base list. For example, it seems to have a strong preference for Japanese roleplaying games and (oddly enough) visual novels when compared to PC RPGs.
