I want it to go in the other direction, we've almost got ME2's percentage higher than MGS3's --- Welcome to the League of Stickies. |
Like, for example: In 2010, Borderlands 1 vs. MGS3 is 34.41%. This year, Borderlands 2 vs. MGS1 is (currently) 32.53%. Considering than B2>B1 and MGS1>MGS3, what MGS1 is doing today seems in line with everything we expected. The issue is that MGS3 is underperforming by...a lot. And it didn't look anywhere close to this weak in 2010. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
Wasn't MGS 3 the best MGS game? I don't know about the franchise but I always thought that. --- Why do we exist?What happens when we stop existing? |
Also
MGS2 performed pretty much exactly what it was expected to on Resident
Evil 1. MGS4 was expected to drop. MGS5 was never expected to be worth
much of anything. I think that overall the cries of MGS DEBOOST have been greatly overstated. MGS3's performance here is really the first true major outlier of the contest. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
I'm still secretly hoping BioShock has suddenly become high-tier and next round MGS3 will go back to normal. |

RE4's given Infinite almost 40% and that game should logically be a ways off from Bioshock. like, Bioshock to Infinite is somewhat equivalent to like MGS/MGS3. there's just a huge gap between the original and its late sequel. --- add the c and back away iphonesience |
Infinite
only gets 37% on RE4. Bioshock 1 should be a good bit stronger, but
yeah that's a very huge gap we're looking at if MGS3 is still close to

ANd RE4 would only need to be 53-54 against Bio to beat MGS3. I don't know where RE4>MGS3 even came from anyway. They are abotu even I love RE4 but cmon. It's being way overrated (contest strength). RE4
is considered one of the best games of its generation, a lot of people
think its the best 3d action game of all time, and it popularized
third-person shooters. There's good reason to believe it's strong. Biggest thing I'm worried about is if Resident Evil becoming a joke of a series in today's gaming environment will make people think less fondly of it. --- Cranky's Advice - "git gud" Oh yea, I guess raytan won. |

There's good reason to believe it's strong. I'm well ware of how good RE4 is. I'm talking in context of this contest and Gamefaqs in general. Theres a limit to how strong a game of RE4's genre can be. I don't think RE4 can be any stronger than it is. How many pure Action games with very little story are even in this contest? Most of them fodder. This site will always favour RPG's or Nintendo games. |
mgs3/me2 is going to be huge too. mgs3 has the old CT trends while ME2 has that anti-WRPG vote that's almost ff7-esque. --- add the c and back away iphonesience |

I'm
really surprised by MGS3's performance because BIoshock's bad
performance on Silent Hill should have indicated a drop in strength for that
game.... but considering Infinite wasn't that weak, I'm guessing
Bioshock didn't lose a step, and that Silent Hill is more popular now?
Surely MGS3 dropped, but it couldn't be that much, given that the others in its series don't seem that bad? FFX's poor performance on MMX was the most surprising result to me so far this contest, but MGS3 this round has to top that. --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those. It could be fun! Now
you say FFX's performed poorly against MMX, but let me present the case
for the defence. Of all the SNES games in this contest, the only two to
have lost are MMX and Earthbound. I think most of us would agree that
MMX is almost certainly stronger than Earthbound, which got ~39% against
MGS. FFX got 55.5% on MMX. If you put MMX at 56% on Earthbound you get
FFX = MGS, which is about where those two have always looked to be. (Now I get the jury talking about MMX vs. Earthbound and they forget all about that stinker of a showing against Half-Life. Classic misdirection.) I actually think tonights match between FFX and CT will answer a lot. If CT goes out and blows the doors off FFX with 60%+ the SNES has completely took off. But if FFX holds up with something in the mid-40s then it's more likely that the biggest games from the 5th gen like OoT, RBY and FFVII can deal with whatever comes their way. --- We are living our lives Abound with so much information |

I consider LttP the only SNES game that is completely safe to round 4 though, although Chrono Trigger is pretty darn close to that. after a quick scan through all the closeish (within 55/45) matches, KH1
