Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. Hmm, I wonder if MGS3 can lose enough % that I can entertain ME2 > MGS3 again. ME2 going up would help too. Unless
something really makes a move and explodes in percentage, the path to
the semis seems as wide open as ever. I don't think SMRPG is up with the
rest of the potential contenders in arguments but it's at least in the
discussion, and you've got RE4/MGS/SotC/MGS3/ME2(/StarCraftComeback!?)

Not
sure how SotC to the semis is such an unreasonable pick. I actually
thought about taking it, but I was banking on MGSV having more of a

officially sucks this contest. It should go up due to Europe, but damn.
Even 60% here would be a disappointment IMO. What was it supposed to
get stat wise? Why are people getting on ME2 though? This is only a couple points below the typical Oracle prediction from what I saw. transience seriously can we just not have a semifinalist from divisions 7 I have always hated how weak those divisions are. think the top 15 games are probably in divisions 1-6, and the only ones

That way you have all the potential #2 candidates fighting it out and avoiding being stomped by ocarina early. For example i wouldnt like to see games like mario world melee or rby being fed to ocarina before they meet a chrono trigger ffvi or a ffvii. only game match pic I've ever seen that I think may have made a
difference was the entire SSBM cast vs. Tidus' mug. Nothing less than

They blame everyone except themselves for being bad (League fans do the same thing; I'm guessing it's popular in other competitive games now, too). I've played all three races on the ladder and have heard imbalance whines in all possible matchups. The thing that boggles my mind most is "Ladder Anxiety." of the Contest has this in the bag. If I wake up and it's breaking more
than 65% on RDR, and MGS is still trying to break 56% on Earthbound,

suppose it's possible EB is worth something? It got SFFed to hell in
2009 and the only read we have before that is the lol 2004 stats. But if
MGS goes on to look decent I'm not buying it having increased that
much - I'd rather partially attribute a hardcore EB/Mother 3 fanbase or
pic factor or Weekend After Thanksgiving Factor than that kind of

Earthbound is just stronger now. It's been rereleased and people have had a lot more time to play it. It's a classic these days. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |

picked MGS with 59% today and so did most of the analysis crew so I
don't think this is unexpected in the slightest. maybe pre-contest, but
