in the day, FFVI was always the 2nd strongest Final Fantasy on this
site behind VII. I think there's a really old poll of the day from
before the first contest when it even beat VII. As old games weakened,
it fell behind FFX. It wouldn't be surprising that it's back to #2 FF

Even
with these stats I have trouble picturing Wind Waker beating FF6.
Logic/sense just makes me feel like FF6 would clearly be the stronger

I'm aware of it, I just don't think the sample size (and methodology) is reliable compared to the - admittedly more opaque - Contest List. Of course it's so OLD that it's not of much use, but the gap between MGS and MGS3 is friggin' ginormous there. Here, I'll give you a throwback, a Bold Prediction: Metal Gear Solid scores more on Earthbound than Metal Gear Solid 3 scored on Mother 3. After
an analysis of this contest and the few before it, I'd say that FFVI
has every single advantage next round except the "it's not a Zelda game"

I've always gotten the sense that fans view FFVI and FFVII as the zenith of Final Fantasy, with opinions generally falling with which they played first. I recently played FFs 1 through 9. Playing them this way is interesting (though somewhat disrupted by the FFIII DS remake) because you can clearly see the creators progressing with each game, becoming more ambitious, with the storytelling aspects reaching the height of their ambition in VI. Square really pushed it to the limit telling a story through the Super NES. (And of course, IX is so special to me partly because it is a reflection on this journey itself.) You can tell that by the time FFVII and FFVIII are released, the creators are so thrilled to shuffle off the mortal coils of sprites. Perhaps old school Square gamers see FFVII as the beginning of a decline, with the company becoming more and more reliant on cinematics and graphics with its games, until we get FFXIII. This of course should not detract from the greatness that is FFVII, but perhaps those longing for the "good ole days" of Square now look more to VI instead. --- Best. Game. I was talking about this in the Crew topic, but I'm kind of curious to
see what kind of number FFVI can put up even if it wins. Zelda's worst
1-on-1 loss was Mario 3/Zelda 1, and that was only 57%. Mario friggin' 3
couldn't even put a second tier (maybe even third tier?) Zelda down for

haven't had a lot of 1v1 Zelda game matches! Plus Zelda 1 is still
pretty strong. Do we not think Phantom Hourglass or something wouldn't

ff6/7
is going to be great, assuming wind waker doesn't spoil the fun. that
match is totally different. the site aging up changes the dynamics
greatly too. ff7 will be the clear fave since its path is so weak but if
ff6 can get there, all bets are off. --- add the c and back away iphonesience |

I just realized Majora got nearly 57% on Wind Waker directly. Well,
that helps makes things make more sense. There's enough space for Zelda

I've
been listening obsessively to LTTP music for a week or more now. I
think I've settled on LTTP music for heroic things, like Cloud trying to
fight the tyrant. And One Winged Angel is the music theme for Gamefaqs

It's
a shame really, had Smash 4 not been on a failure like the Wii U, we
would probably be looking at one of the very strongest games on the
site. People saying Planescape wasn't that bad last round were obviously
