I wish 00s/10s games would be more popular tbh. I think a site with tastes like GameFAQs' but more interested in modern games would have interesting BGE results. As is the contest results won't ever change minus rallies.

For 00s/10s games to be more popular here, we would need this site to bring in a larger number of younger people on a regular basis, something that we aren't doing right now. Most of the younger people visiting this site are generally the ones who first come here from a Google search result and bypass the homepage. Those people generally aren't signing up for an account and those who do aren't really sticking around for very long before leaving.

I know. I was expecting (well to a certain extent my bracket still have 90s games dominating for the most part) the older demographics to play more modern games or grow sick of their own nostalgia, I guess.

I think you're my age, right creative? mid-30s? I played the holy hell out of SMK multiplayer and MK64 just felt slow. I won't argue with your opinion and am glad you enjoyed it but man -- man -- I did not have anything near the level of fun that I had with SMK. I've always left MK64 fans in the bucket of "kids who played it when they were 10 and that's why they liked it." it's an elitist attitude but I just really hated that sequel.

How I feel as well.


Anyway they're both shockingly strong games to be left out of the contest I think? It's not too surprising, they're the type of game that loads of people have played and most like, but few love enough to nom... especially on a site like GameFAQs which is relatively anti-Mario Kart in general because you don't really need a FAQ for the games at all. I think MK64 is in the sweet spot where it might be stronger these days but who knows, we have embarrassingly little data on them.

Also, I assume Dragon Age wouldn't completely stomp CoD, that it would be at least kiiinda close right? I'm probably biased and looking for confirmation that Super Metroid should be the favourite next round barring some reverse SFF, I dunno. Anyone have any observations about those games that could give us some hints here?

Well, Brawl was only able to get 70% on CoD4 in GOTD, so the most likely explanation is that CoD4 has tanked hard since then. Same thing that happened with AC2.

It's possible Galaxy 1 was hidden behind SFF with TP in GOTD. This performance on Dragon Age puts it at around 42.10% on Majora and 45% on TP (It got 37.73% in GOTD).

Honestly, I like Galaxy's performance better than Super Metroid's. Super Metroid is just beating up on a game from a series this site is sick of and has moved on from.

At the moment anyway. If Galaxy settles all the way down in the low 60s or something, I might reconsider.

I wouldn't, but then again I'd just fanboy pick Prime there.

Still, even if you plug Metroid Prime's number on Morrowind into the GOTD stats it finishes at around Kingdom Hearts's level, meaning like 52% on Galaxy. Admittedly rSFF could easily make the difference in that case.

But then Mario has those classics which would smoke any Metroid, those are probably the deciding factor for Mario the character moreso than his newer stuff. Plus Samus did win Mario's third of the bracket last contest!

But then on the other OTHER hand, Galaxy improved by 10% against Twilight Princess in the Game of the Generation poll, and is now putting numbers on Dragon Age that would indicate a 10% improvement on TP again. So either Galaxy is much stronger now (doubt it), or it was just SFFd really badly.

So Galaxy gets like 58% on Metroid Prime...which would mean 55% on Fallout 3. But then Galaxy 1 being a monster while Galaxy 2 chokes against Mass Effect doesn't really make sense!

Galaxy > Brawl confirmed.

Maybe Dragon Age is just weak. The rest of Bioware's track record this contest is 54% on Xenogears and 38% on Banjo-Kazooie. Also Dragon Age was literally only a year old last time we saw it, it could be much weaker now.

Galaxy 1 isnt a monster at all. It's only slightly stronger than galaxy 2. It would get doubled by world SMB3 and 64 comfortably.

I voted earlier, but didn't really look too closely at the results until now.

Holy crap, Super Metroid is in beast mode. It's obvious this isn't the same CoD that won its GotY, but I did not expect an 80-20 beatdown. I think you could draw some parallels between CoD and AC, both being once (relatively) popular games that got driven into the ground by yearly releases with little to no gameplay changes. That being said, Super Metroid is doing better than WW did against AC2, so that's pretty impressive, I think.

Eh, not sure who's worried. It's getting fed to the Majora grinder next round anyways

3rd match=FF 12 is winning only because it is a FF game. It is the weakest FF game got in the contest.
