The issue with this site in particular is that we're not even luring in any younger people (in noticeable numbers) anymore. A good majority of people visiting GameFAQs for the first time are coming off Google through a search result and bypassing the homepage completely. They don't even see the polls or even the contest. They're probably also the same people that generally aren't signing up for an account and the ones who do sign up generally don't stay around for very long before leaving the site. This specific group of people probably would include a lot of younger people, though.

IIRC, something like 70% of the votes come from North America, 20% from Europe and 10% from everywhere else. I don't think we've ever gotten a breakdown of how many votes come from different countries inside Europe. During the Power Hour I think the percentage of votes from Europe is under 10%, but it spikes to around 60% in the 4-6 AM dead zone when North America is asleep.

Allen needs to find a way to make the poll display on multiple pages. GameFAQs is the #5 video game website on the Internet but the polls aren't reflecting it since there really isn't much reason to visit the front page for the average user.

The poll is displayed on the main boards page, as seen on this archived page:

http://web.archive.org/web/20151028172755/http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards

However, the poll is located below the "Board Information" area and is less visible on the main boards page compared to the homepage. Displaying the poll on the main boards page did absolutely nothing to boost vote totals. This basically confirms the vote total issue is caused by a significant drop in people seeing the polls since most new visitors are bypassing both of those pages by coming off Google. When the vote totals used to be very high, most people who came to GameFAQs for the first time would arrive on the homepage instead.

Yeah those UK votes are very small. When you break it down by region they are all nice even numbers like 100/0, 50/50, 75/25, 66.7/33.3, 87.5/12.5, 80/20. Which suggests votals of like 1-10 per region. I'd say 1-8 but that 80/20 is probably 10 votes rather than 5 given that it's London.

I would love to see what would happen if Allen could put the polls on every page. I know he can't because of ads and whatnot, but it would be amazing. We could have a normal character battle and Link vs. Draven would be a much-looked-forward-to heavyweight showdown, instead of just counter-rallies.

Or we could leave Draven out and see who would win in Link vs. Cloud, with votals soaring past 200K.

Raytan7585 is better than me at redditFAQs
Keeping it up over 90% is so hard that even a update like 23 votes for Hearthstone is pretty "whoa!" and makes OoT lose 0.09%
And yet it might reach 91%
Pretty scary

Yesterday's charts:

Time | Mario 64 | MK8 | Votes | Demographic
EBV | 81.36% | 18.64% | 660 | (0:00-0:05)
PHV | 80.84% | 19.16% | 4025 | (0:00-1:00)
FNV | 79.12% | 20.88% | 8028 | (1:00-6:00)
BSV | 80.84% | 19.16% | 5136 | (6:00-9:00)
DSV | 80.75% | 19.25% | 9758 | (9:00-14:30)
ASV | 79.19% | 20.81% | 10001 | (14:30-22:00)
SNV | 80.93% | 19.07% | 1862 | (22:00-24:00)

Another Mario game that gets an appreciable bump from the ASV into the SNV. Getting that patented "Mario clutch" ready in case they need it, eh?

Time | FFT | RE2 | Votes | Demographic
EBV | 56.34% | 43.66% | 639 | (0:00-0:05)
PHV | 58.64% | 41.36% | 3907 | (0:00-1:00)
FNV | 56.83% | 43.17% | 7925 | (1:00-6:00)
BSV | 56.38% | 43.62% | 5050 | (6:00-9:00)
DSV | 56.52% | 43.48% | 9547 | (9:00-14:30)
ASV | 58.88% | 41.12% | 9733 | (14:30-22:00)
SNV | 60.50% | 39.50% | 1833 | (22:00-24:00)

Another sign FF's night vote isn't as potent or its day vote as dreadful as it used to be. RE actually holds to its usual trends of being good at night and terrible during the day, even against FF.

Time | Zelda TP | Skies | Votes | Demographic
EBV | 73.09% | 26.91% | 654 | (0:00-0:05)
PHV | 72.47% | 27.53% | 3974 | (0:00-1:00)
FNV | 69.91% | 30.09% | 7940 | (1:00-6:00)
BSV | 73.02% | 26.98% | 5067 | (6:00-9:00)
DSV | 73.56% | 26.44% | 9622 | (9:00-14:30)
ASV | 72.71% | 27.29% | 9827 | (14:30-22:00)
SNV | 72.36% | 27.64% | 1838 | (22:00-24:00)

Zelda remarkably consistent outside of the night vote, the only time it fell under 70%. TP managed to stay at Power Hour levels the entire match. Perhaps a sign that it doesn't have as strong of a Power Hour as most Nintendo games?

Time | Persona 4 | 999 | Votes | Demographic
EBV | 75.00% | 25.00% | 616 | (0:00-0:05)
PHV | 76.92% | 23.08% | 3717 | (0:00-1:00)
FNV | 77.89% | 22.11% | 7490 | (1:00-6:00)
BSV | 77.95% | 22.05% | 4757 | (6:00-9:00)
DSV | 78.33% | 21.67% | 8843 | (9:00-14:30)
ASV | 77.40% | 22.60% | 9092 | (14:30-22:00)
SNV | 78.39% | 21.61% | 1680 | (22:00-24:00)

The board vote was P4's worst time, but I suppose it makes sense at the same time because B8 has a disproportionate number of people who even know what 999 is. also LOL 22.2% for 999

Also worth noting is that we're back to the ASV getting more votes than the DSV, albeit barely. That had not been the case in the first few days. That has been the case post-Undertale rally.

Two straight identical updates for OOT/Hearthstone. That's pretty cool.

I wonder if the people that play Hearthstone play it like I play Pokemon Shuffle
I no longer enjoy it but I play it daily because it became a routine
Open up the game, do Meowth farming, play the event if there is one, close the game
Same goes for Hearthstone daily quests I guess

Yeah, I think all online games are that way. I'm that way with League of Legends.

I would probably vote for just about any game in the bracket against League.

single digit update for Hearthstone
So much talk for Smash-boosted Cloud to beat Link, Oot's dominance here actually puts the silly argument to rest.
