Who
is the hypothetical person that was going to vote for Link, but says
"oh, now that Cloud is in Smash I'm going to vote against the king of
Nintendo (who is also in Smash)" (that person doesn't exist). For now, this announcement helps Cloud with Nintendo voters against non-Nintendo (or maybe weak Nintendo). Maybe a year after he's been in Smash some people who loved Link before will come to prefer Cloud, but that's not going to happen off of the announcement. --- I don't know how much you know about women, but Dr. Pizza is an expert. - The Mana Sword |

That's dumb. Cloud just got exposure to a new audience. Not everyone who voted Link is a huge Zelda fanboy who can't be swayed. A lot of voters who played both Zelda and FFVII and feel similarly about them might also vote Cloud in the excitement. There aren't just the extremes here. against non-Nintendo characters! Seriously though, Smash 4 had the
chance to pull a cool upset here and the only game that wont work

Link but FFVII: Remake and KH3 will eventually propel him to the #1

It
makes no sense at all for Link to beat Cloud worse. At best, Link can
retain almost all of his support against Cloud, and Cloud just gets a
very small boost directly against the king. But that didn't happen for
Snake, who got a huge boost that held up even in direct matches with

Melee 41.02% against Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 4, Super Smash Bros. Brawl 40.39% against Final Fantasy VII, LoZ: A Link to the Past, Final Fantasy X Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft – N/A N/A Analysis I’ve joked in the past that this match was like a final. Hearthstone is probably the most League of Legend-like game in terms of rallying. We saw Undertale comeback using tumblr, but even if Hearthstone gets a rally it is going to have a lot more problems than Undertale had. Firstly Ocarina of Time is a lot harder to rally against and is the type of game that would do well in any contest situation across the gaming world. Second Hearthstone will have a bigger gap to close. In a normal match Hearthstone is quite weak, we’re talking about the game getting clearly under 20% and potentially suffering the blowout of the round. Hearthstone would almost need to triple the rally Undertale had, most likely having to start at around the beginning of the match. Hearthstone’s biggest advantage would be that this is the first round and the game could catch Zelda fans off-guard, but given Undertale has made itself known the element of surprise may not be as surprising. My prediction is based on if there was no rallying. charmander6000’s Bracket: LoZ: Ocarina of Time > Hearthstone charmander6000’s Prediction: LoZ: Ocarina of Time wins, 82.55% - 17.45% Match XXXIV: (8) Suikoden II vs. (9) Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Previous Performance Suikoden II – 2004 14.37% against Final Fantasy VII Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – N/A N/A Analysis This is this contest’s ultimate fodder match. To be honest I just went with the top option. The last time we saw Suikoden II was back in 2004 where it got thoroughly crushed by Final Fantasy VII. In the 2009 its predecessor was similarly crushed by Final Fantasy VII. Monster Hunter is an unknown quantity which made it easier for some people to choose it because it could have strength or at least enough to defeat Suikoden II. For the people that play the series Monster Hunter is quite popular, but to the ones which have not, they may not have ever heard of the game. Match XXXV: (5) Okami vs. (12) Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos Previous Performance Okami – 2010 71.41% against No More Heroes 56.31% against Mega Man 9 41.84% against Metroid Prime Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos – 2010 49.55% against The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Analysis Okami and Amaterasu has been one of those things that has strength which goes against all logic. It’s not Nintendo or Square or is it a big release where it would be strong anywhere. There’s always talked on whether if Okami will be forgotten given it has had nothing for a long time. Amaterasu did pretty well in 2013 by getting 38% on Squall so I am going to bet the game largely still has strength. Warcraft III isn’t complete fodder either, it went even with Morrowind whom had an okay performance against Metroid Prime. There is also the possibility that should Hearthstone get a rally Warcraft III would be the most to benefit from the influx of voters so potentially it could win this match. charmander6000’s Bracket: Okami > Warcraft III charmander6000’s Prediction: Okami wins, 58.72% - 41.28% Match XXXVI: (4) Final Fantasy IX vs. (13) Kingdom Hearts Previous Performance Final Fantasy IX – 2010 75.19% against Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations 68.87% against Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 53.07% against Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 36.93% against Final Fantasy X Kingdom Hearts – 2010 76.90% against Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow 66.31% against Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 47.58% against Kingdom Hearts II Analysis This match is effectively a three-point match given that the winner here will likely defeat Okami. While I have Final Fantasy IX in my bracket I no longer have faith that it could win. If you take the raw stats from 2010 Kingdom Hearts had the higher ranking, but I thought SFF would be able to make up the difference. Now I’m not so sure if FFIX suffered much SFF against FFX. This is mostly from the performances from Persona 3 and KotOR, but it is also looking at the type of games FFIX would be hanging around and I just don’t see it having that kind of strength. The other thing I was betting on was that Kingdom Hearts would be a bit weaker this year compared to 2010. Kingdom Hearts II looked pretty good earlier this round and while MGS4 could supposedly have dropped even more than it already has sometimes the simplest answer is the right one. stealing the contest at least has some impish appeal of watching a

Well,
crap. One bracket I have FF7 losing to FF6, and the other I have it
losing to Melee. So much for either of those. It's about time
something goes FF7's way. Oh, and few mentioned disappointment in Mario 64... but 80% on Mario Kart 8 is pretty dang solid. It's definitely stronger than Mario Kart DS which Brawl beat with 83% (8 is newer now than MKDS was in Game of the Decade, and it's on a console), --- "Ah, a party! We haven't had one of those.
