At least not anymore. I hope. And we're literally comparing platformers to RPGs/shooters. The only real reason why this comparison arises is because the SMG1/2 and ME1/2 were all GOTY candidates in the same years. The TV Tropes page for Galaxy 2 reasons out that the reason it lost a lot of GOTY awards to ME2 was because critics simply decided it was Mass Effect's turn since SMG1 won a lot of GOTY awards back in '07...to think it has been almost 10 years, yikes! On a side note, it's kind of weird to see Halo beating a more popular game. I guess this site hates Minecraft even more than it hates Halo. That said, I feel like Minecraft is probably at the fodder line, game just feels too popular to be especially weak. Like I said, Halo was only 12 spots ahead on THE LIST anyway, we didn't exactly have data pointing towards a blowout win. Master Chief would probably get the same percentage on Creeper in a character contest. Eh,
I also prefer the Galaxies over the ME's (though I haven't played 3 for
what it's worth), but then I'm a big fan of platformers and Mario games
in particular. Not that I hate the ME's, though ME1 is pretty flawed in
some areas. I also enjoy the music and colorful graphics of the
Galaxies, and SMG1 had a cute storyline that was a nice change of pace

Based on the 2010 GOTY poll, Mass Effect wins with 50.04%. ME swings back into the lead in the projection with that cut. is fine. He doesn't even bash games I love all that often (well aside
from SOTC which I'll concede isn't for everyone...although lol Ulti's
opinion on it, WTF. Also helps that I haven't played most of my
favorite games in forever so it's hard to care). (also I got around to playing SOTC because of GOTD - hopefully this contest will inspire a similar decision!) Also I love me a good 3D platformer and have never been interested in WRPGs. Most of my interest in Mass Effect is from some of the voice actors involved (e.g. Jennifer Hale, Lance Henriksen, Adam Baldwin, Yvonne Strahovski, Martin Sheen), otherwise forget it. I'm not much into space-faring sci-fi anyway. WTF
Mass Effect with a 1 vote lead. Yet somehow this doesn't feel like an
all-time classic like MGS2/SOTC. Maybe because I'm not into gaming as
much. I feel like it's a bit weird seeing Mario Galaxy 2 look like it has a real shot of winning when Arkham City got crushed, but I guess Nintendo fans are more loyal to their games than most. To be fair SMG2 was higher on THE LIST. --- "Nothing I could do!" -Darksydephil |

gotta say, when the lead was over 150 and I went to sleep last night, I
thought this one was done. I figured it was possible for Mass Effect to
build a sizeable lead overnight, but I expected the Mario day vote to

Dilution of trends is really weird - it does make for good wire-to-wire matches, but unless a game has a really pronounced/fearsome night vote or day vote the days of big comebacks and lead padding are mostly gone. Low votals also don't help, 'comebacks' are often excruciatingly slow. |

I don't have Undertale in my bracket (I've had enough with Minecraft),
but a successful Undertale rally is something that I'd like to see. It has the whole "indie game destroys industry AAA game" thing going for it, AND is a game I love. |
