think for a lot of people SMB3 makes SMB obsolete so less people

Also I picked it to win initially since it placed much higher on THE LIST and is generally more respected but it was just easier for me to envision Galaxy winning, plus I personally like Galaxy more so I just went with the board consensus. I just looked at the leaderboard. Glad to see 11/12 puts you in the top 10%! So far our cookie cutter bracket actually agrees with casuals. Minecraft might be heavily favored by casuals though, I'm not sure, since Halo could be picked a lot by casuals as well. --- My old signature was really outdated. Did Allen actually think Halo would have a chance vs. SMB?? When did he say this? If I recall correctly, he said that during the bracket phase of the 2009 games contest, explaining why he'd decided to segregate the games by era again, against the wishes of Board 8. According to him, SMB wouldn't stand a chance against modern games like Halo, so it and other NES games were given their own division. --- September 1, 2003; November 4, 2007; September 2, 2013 NEVER FORGET. |

Super
Metroid might be stronger now. You guys all saw how Prime did much
better in GOTD compared to BGE2, followed by being a top 15 game on THE
LIST. Not to mention Samus has done very well in character battles in the past few contests. Although she may have just gotten a lucky ride to the finals in 2013 due to Mario losing early. I honestly think the Mario/Samus gap may be smaller than ever before, and she already seemed to have closed the gap a bit between '05 and '08 (though you could blame Link's shenanigans, lol 4-ways). Zelda 1 gets manageable once you get the hang of it. The worst part is the start. Zelda 2 on the other hand... that's a game I can't compare to things like Zelda 1 and Mario 1. It should be compared to Metroid. |

Zelda 1 is a cakewalk, I think, until level 6 at least and then level 9. I've played that game so many times though. --- xyzzy |

Also I jumped into Link to the Past right after finishing Wind Waker and found it underwhelming in comparison (yes I know some on this board will want my head on a stake for this, oh well), so I had to delay finishing it for a while to get it out of WW's shadow. But then you practice, die a bunch of times, enhance your Zelda-playing skills, and eventually you start progressing.
