afternoon/evening vote on non-school days. Square would usually reach
its percentage nadir against Nintendo around 1-3 PM and gain a

so..
this isn't really a good metric but X/Y went 50/50 with LBW in GOTY.
according to that it's basically around equal to Last of Us. what does it mean? no idea. I won't trust that Zelda/Pokemon match any more than this one. I personally think this is just SFF and am happy to move on. I feel strongly that Pokemon is something like this: RBY, GSC: regular people who played pokemon as a kid + current pokemon fans RSE, DPP etc: pokemon fans the latter are general Nintendo fans and can get SFF'd. the former are a contest force unlike everything else. to be honest, I don't see why GSC is much different than RBY at this point which scares me against Melee. as a side note: props to Allen for segregating some of the big series' so well. imagine if Wind Waker, Majora and TP were up against the RE4s and MGS's of the world instead of FF6, LTTP and Mario 64? we could have some crazy Zelda domination. that's to say nothing of GSC, FF6/FF7/CT/FF10, Mario 3/World/RBY.... --- xyzzy |

Yeah,
I don't take this Wind Waker match to be indicative of much of
anything. X/Y's strength is a complete unknown, and who knows how much
of this is SFF to begin with. Next round will give us a better idea
since TTYD was also connected to Wind Waker in GOTD (via Oblivion) and

Yeah
I love how this bracket has so many games from the same series facing
each other. The Mario gauntlet and Zelda gauntlet are pretty
interesting, for example. And it seems most of the contenders for 2nd
strongest game are not in Ocarina's side of the bracket. |

yeah the top bracket is loaded. it's something like this, I guess, by tiers. second and third tier are really close but I wanted to differentiate a little. Having games like RBY, Mario 64 and Melee up against OoT early would be a complete waste imo. If you've got an obvious #1 game like OoT then leave it in a half where theres isn't a ton of potential top 10 games. I think only LttP is really a top 10 material anyway. KH2 beat KH outright in 2010. It's close but KH2 is just a bit more popular. |

tiers aren't in any order. Melee and Mario probably belong in the
second tier but I'm not convinced that they could handle FF6, and then
there's FF10 and Majora.. I'm excited to see FF7 tonight. I get this weird feeling that FF6 outdoes it in percentage against a better opponent and starts the upset ball rolling. --- xyzzy |

I'd take Mario 64 over FFVI. FFVI is being a bit overrated on here for some reason. I'd still take FFX over it. |

KH has a bit more nostalgia but Kh2 was just the more popular game over time. They are both as strong as each other. |
Skyrim could be anywhere from top 5 to losing to any number of classic games. just depends how that shift plays out. FF8 belongs on the list with KH1 and KH2. Fallout 3 and ME2 as well. Brawl's in the Melee tier obviously but isn't in the contest. the rest don't really fit. some might think FF9 belongs with KH1, but I'm skeptical. --- xyzzy |
Kingdom Hearts 1 can be more popular against other opponents and still lose to Kingdom Hearts 2. It's kind of like how some people kicked around the idea that Final Fantasy 1 seemed to perform more impressively than FF4 against other opponents but in a direct matchup it gets creamed. --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |
