With
these matches all being 24 hours, you could do trend charts like you
normally would. But the only real trends that exist these days are the
regional trends caused by certain continents voting in larger numbers
(or smaller numbers) based on the time of the day. The ASV doesn't
really exist because the average age of this site's users is 27.31 as of

The only thing that still really exists for sure now is the Board Vote and the Power Hour. Well, the dead of night vote probably still exists because of America being asleep, but the day vote is probably one big thing spread out across a bigger area now. I basically proposed the idea for the After Work Vote way back in 2012 with the following poll: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q2oIHYONfGB8aelXsUpCJ6bI2OgYItUtaQDKs7EYCY0/pub?gid=1 What happens in this poll is the option "Going to school" gets off to a strong start at the beginning of the poll and drops off overnight. There is a morning vote spike before dropping off slightly during the DSV. Then it goes on to dominate the ASV before dropping off a bit during the SNV. "Going to work" has the opposite trends for the most part, getting off to a weak start. It continues to perform badly during the night vote before picking up steam near the end of the night vote. Ultimately, its strongest time period was the morning vote. But when the ASV starts, it drops off for the first 3 hours of the ASV. But around 5:30 PM, it actually started performing better again, providing some evidence for an After Work Vote. In the poll updates, "Going to school" reaches a maximum vote lead of 476 over "Going to work" at the 2:47 AM update. It takes about 4 1/2 hours to wipe out that lead, with "Going to work" completing the lead change at 7:14 AM. "Going to work" would later go on to build up a 1064 vote lead at 2:27 PM and then the ASV kicks in. From 2:27 PM to 5:28 PM, that lead went from 1064 to 498 and it looked like "Going to school" was on pace to complete the comeback. But to my surprise, "Going to work" started to slow down those vote cuts after 5:28 PM and actually made an attempt to stall out "Going to school". I'm very happy to see such active discussion on fairly unimportant matches. Looks like I didn't need to worry about not having enough discussion. In fact now I once again have my usual problem of not being able to keep up! |
If I did trend charts that featured the proposed After Work Vote, I would do it like this: Early Board Vote - 0:00-0:05 Power Hour Vote - 0:00-1:00 First Night Vote - 1:00-6:00 Before Work Vote - 6:00-9:00 During Work Vote - 9:00-17:30 After Work Vote - 17:30-22:00 Second Night Vote - 22:00-24:00 The only changes here would be renaming the BSV, DSV, and ASV to the BWV, DWV, and AWV respectively. The BWV is essentially the same thing as the old BSV. But the DWV runs for an additional 3 hours over the old DSV. BTW,
anyone remember when my poll graphs became borked? I'm sure it's been a
while. I have no idea what happened there, I haven't altered anything
regarding that for an eternity. But moving to another graphing platform would probably be too much work. I'm open to looking though, so if anyone has any suggestions on potential replacement graphing libraries please go ahead. |
