I don't know. It feels wrong to trust FF against anything if it's not VI-X. XII got my vote tough. And New Vegas will easily beat Bioshock Infinite. The Fallout name is worth way more than Bioshock. Knowing
this site New Vegas wins just because of the Fallout name. Although I
suspect Fallout 3 will be weaker now due to not being so new. On the other hand...New Vegas was in the top 60 in that top 100 from last year, which Infinite didn't even make. But then again Infinite barely missed the cut, and that's probably not a great indicator of contest strength... get the impression that FF12's reputation has improved significantly
since FF13's release. I remember people saying positive things about the
game when the FF12 HD rumor came out which I don't remember people

Still think both games will be weaker on account of not being so new anymore. Anyway, FF12 seems to be a huge anti-vote target even without the FF name (only 56% on CRISIS CORE are you serious?), although yeah perhaps that's no longer true. might be, but I'm not sure on that. I know the previous contest would
generate a link to let other people view your bracket after you have
filled out every single match. I haven't filled out my bracket
completely, so I don't know if this contest will generate a link to let

GotD took place after vote totals started to decline. GotD's vote
totals were still about twice as high as what this contest would be

One
potentially interesting later round match will be Metroid
Prime/Half-Life 2. This is a match that took place during GotD and
Metroid Prime won the match with less than 51% in a day match. I feel
as though Half-Life 2 could win this rematch, since it will be a 24 hour
match instead. Also, Steam has really taken off compared to when GotD
happened and that could translate into a higher playrate for Half-Life
2. The potential hype for an upcoming Half-Life 3 may also be reason to
believe that Half-Life 2 could be stronger than it was in GotD. Edit - We now have a contest banner on the homepage. Ha, Metroid Prime vs. Half-Life 2 with the winner likely facing a Bethesda RPG...oh my, loving that mythology gag. No matter how debated the match might be I'd pick Metroid Prime just because it's my favorite game. tempted to pick Dark Souls > LttP since DS has a fervent cult
following that could lead to a strong rally, and votals are going to be
even more diluted than usual. I also expect Undertale and Shovel Knight

Back to the MP/HL2 rematch...it's an FPS against a Nintendo icon. I have a hard time seeing HL2 win just for that alone. You could argue the whole Steam is more popular, plus Metroid was more "in the now" during GOTD too. --- "Nothing I could do!" -Darksydephil |

Unless you want to say that all SNES games benefited massively from the format for voting on that, which is far from out of the question admittedly. But Dark Souls also strikes me as something that benefited from the format...oh I'm sorry rallying you say? Didn't take that into account at all. And I'd rather not try to predict rallies. Am
I the only one who thinks this bracket feels underwhelming? Most of
the tough matches are between games that will get blown to kingdom come
in the next round. The Skyrim/Goldeneye/Metroid Prime/Half-Life 2 strikes me as the most interesting area of the bracket, but only because of Goldeneye's unpredictability and my favorite game being there. Even that has the problem that we've seen it before. Tells you how awesome GOTD was when the best part of the bracket is pretty much copy-pasted from that. --- "Nothing I could do!" -Darksydephil |
