I would in a scenario where it's strong enough to beat Skyrim which I think will make the final of this division --- Started from the bottom now we here |
ctesjbuvf posted... I need some help remembering a contest project. I believe GunMage hosted it. For each four-pack, you had to pick an entrant that you believed would advance, but the catch was that you could only pick an entrant once, so you'd have to pick something you were certain would only advance once. I think perhaps come round 3, you could only pick between the two matches the division would have left, but I can't remember that, nor can I remember the name of this. GunMage is not around, but I'd love to have it back. Anyone have a better memory regarding this than me? no one? <_< --- My old signature was really outdated. If
it's the same GoldenEye from 2009 I would. It got doubled by a Final
Fantasy VII that was just below Ocarina of Time in a match with Mario

Alright,
thanks for the advice guys. I think I am going to stick with GoldenEye
anyway, it sounds close and would make me happy if it won. What do you guys think about Resident Evil 4 winning Div VII? I love that game, but I might be hoping here? |

RE4
is probably not getting past MGS1 from the bottom division. And if ME2
turns out to be strong enough to push through both MGS3 and MGS1, it
could probably beat RE4 too. RE4 does have a good chance if MGS3 pulls some sort of intra-fanbase preference magic against MGS1 since RE4 has narrowly beaten MGS3 before. But if MGS3 gets out of that division it could also mean MGS3 has gotten stronger than it was previously and it's not like the two games were far apart in strength to begin with. --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] (edited 10/29/2015 7:45:02 AM)report |
AxemRedRanger posted... And if ME2 turns out to be strong enough to push through both MGS3 and MGS1, it could probably beat RE4 too. MGS1 is not going to be much stronger indirectly, if at all, than MGS2. If RE4 can beat one, it should beat both. --- Raytan7585 is better than me at redditFAQs |

So,
what's the rationale behind FF6 > Wind Waker, because of the 1 seed?

Waker has always looked strong. --- Submit your bracket for the GameFAQs 20th Anniversary Best. Game. Ever. Contest! http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/bge20_entry |
Probably because FFVI defeated FFVII in a PotD poll. I am quite afraid of WW. Link's Awakening got 44-45% in its two fair matches in 2009. --- Board Odds Project; Post Your Bracket: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/72683134 |
Those 2009 matches happened in, well, 2009. 2008 Kefka sucked. He let this happen to him, albeit with a bad picture: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/3246-division-1-round-1-duke-nukem-kefka-marth-niko 2010 Kefka was pretty good. He did this: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/3807-heart-division-round-2-kefka-vs-bowser 2013 Kefka was ridiculous. http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/5256-character-battle-ix-division-4-final-solid-snake-vs-glados Terra's performances and FFVI's seeding and DDJ list placement also support an FFVI resurgence. --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] |
Dissidia
giving Kefka recognizable pictures is what likely helped him in 2010
and 2013. Also the 2005 List had FFVI in 10th so the game was always
popular. --- Board Odds Project; Post Your Bracket: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/72683134 |

I'm
expecting somewhat big things from Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI.
Feels like a ton of people revere those 2 games and consider them the
pinnacle of JRPGs. Put them against more polarizing 6th gen games
(Final Fantasy X and Wind Waker) and I'll take those upsets. Though I
suspect I won't have the last laugh... --- "Max... I'll always be with you. Forever..." |

Is there any data indicating which might be the stronger between FF6 and Chrono Trigger in a head to head? I have a feeling there's a chance for both games to win their division. --- sharp. distance. (edited 10/30/2015 2:48:22 PM)report |
We're
about to head into the final weekend before the contest starts next
week and Allen still hasn't put up the submission form for match
pictures. I'm starting to wonder if maybe there won't be match pic
submissions for the first round, with Allen doing the match pictures for
the entire first round himself. In addition, we have not gotten any info from Allen regarding the layout of the 4 polls on the homepage. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

So
just to drum up more discussion, am I the only one here who's picking
Chrono Trigger to win its division due to lack of trust in FFX/Melee? I
had Melee winning the division, then realized how well that worked in
GOTD and decided to forget it. Also, CT's performance in BGE2 just looks better than FFX/Melee's performances in GOTD. At least CT murdered everything else in its path aside from Mario 64 and FFVII. Melee didn't really have any impressive performances (the last time we saw it win a poll in a games contest, it bled a ton of percent to CALL OF DUTY), while FFX didn't have any impressive performances other than its win over RE4 which similarly didn't really light the world on fire (ooh bleeding 5% against GTA and 70% on Persona 4 such a worldbeater). Even otherwise, losing to Mario 64 just looks better than jobbing to Brawl or choking against Majora's Mask. At least to me. Just my two cents. --- "Nothing I could do!" -Darksydephil |
I've taking Chrono Trigger to win that division, yeah. --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] |
I'm debating it >_< |
I've got Chrono Trigger to win that division as well. Low vote totals will be good for CT I think. --- Conformity and rebellion...both ways are simple-minded--they are only for people who cannot cope with contradiction and ambiguity. |
Also,
while this probably sounds like a bit of a trolling excuse, the best
indications we have for Melee being a very popular game on this site are
things like that Top 100 from last year. You know, the one where CT
was 1st? --- "Nothing I could do!" -Darksydephil |
So
originally I had Chrono Trigger winning the division, but I looked up
FFX's past performances. It lost against Melee in 04 but it appears it
did better than both Brawl and Melee against Majora's Mask in GotD. In
the end I'm banking on FFX having grown in strength over the years as
well as being fresher in voters' minds because of the HD re-releases.
I'm actually more afraid of Melee winning than CT winning in this case
though. --- Dragon Ball Super. Star Wars Episode VII. Final Fantasy VII remake. Nostalgia is a powerful drug and I'm going to need rehab. |
But then Melee was ahead of FFX on THE LIST...good point though. Ulti made the same observation in his PCA for the previous all-inclusive games contest, but Melee feels like that game we all want to be practically an elite of elites and it just isn't. I'll also admit that I'm picking Chrono Trigger because I like it more than Melee personally, although I'm not entirely sure about that. Both games would be right next to each other if I ever made a favorite games list. --- "Nothing I could do!" -Darksydephil |
I have CT beating FFX then Melee knocking it out followed by Melee taking out FF7. |
I had the same thing, then I changed it to FF7 taking out Melee. Now I'm thinking of changing it back. I can't see any rational reason to trust Melee to be that strong, but I don't think it has fallen either. But I don't feel good about trusting FF7 after 2013. (edited 10/31/2015 7:24:07 PM)report |
