All FAQs have the full site header implemented now. Not expecting any kind of votal miracle from it though - especially since the poll's not directly visible on FAQ pages or anything. --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] [NO raytan NO PEACE] |
AxemRedRanger posted... All FAQs have the full site header implemented now. Yeah, that got implemented about one hour ago and I haven't noticed any vote total spike in the current poll. What it does mean for contests is that putting a regular site header on all plain-text FAQs also allows visitors to see the site banner that was used to promote the last 3 matches of the previous Character Battle. If the upcoming contest will be using the site banner to promote every contest match, visitors who land on a plain-text FAQ from Google will know right away that a contest is currently in progress right now. It
doesn't seem like the FAQ header change has lead to any noticeable
boost in vote totals. Well, I suspect this change will lead to a longer
term boost in vote totals, meaning that we won't be seeing a boost in

While
we're thinking of what contest we want to have, one idea I had is for a
tweaked scoring system. I think the championship value should be
somewhat reduced relative to the first and second round matches. Of
course, later round matches should still have more points than earlier

So this poll: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/71544564 ...got me thinking about something similar to one of this topic's favorite topics: a best handheld contest. What do you think the relative strengths of all of them would be? Personally I'd go with: 3DS > DS > GBA > GB > PSP > GBC > Vita > GameGear > others DS would be the safer winner, but people are really hyped up for the 3DS right now, and care a lot more about its top games than the DS. Gameboy has nostalgia going for it, and even Nintendo is playing into that by making a literal Gameboy a stage for SSB4. Similar to the 3DS, people care a lot about its top games, although the rest of the library is mostly forgotten... I think that's enough to beat the PSP, and even give the GBA a really good scare. PSP is the toughest to rank. On one hand, you have its own iffy library, UMDs being a bad idea, and falling off the face of the Earth (or at least America) around 2010. On the other, you have official access to PS1 games and unofficial access to a bunch of emulators and homebrew. It also has the honor of being the most popular non-Nintendo handheld by far. GBC is the weakest Nintendo handheld, but the Vita has become a joke and will probably get anti-voted just because. No one cares about the GameGear or other handhelds. GameGear should have an edge against everything else at least. --- Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality |
3DS
is a bit of a wildcard, right now I see it being second strongest,
though a lot closer to the GBA. I also don't see the PSP beating any of

in I see that we will be getting a 1v1 Games Contest with no divisions
by era! Rejoice! But first we get a silly Worst Character Ever contest. I
wonder what the site will make of it - could see Ganondorf or Sephiroth
winning if enough people take it as an "evil" character being bad. I

Where

Now that a games contest has been announced for late summer/fall does anyone want to do a nomination rally tournament? Super Smash Bros. will be a big favorite. charmander6000 posted... does anyone want to do a nomination rally tournament? This is exactly why we don't need to have one. B8 will rally behind stuff that doesn't need the help. Plus, if it's 128 games, there are no divisions by era, and noms are as low for this as they were for the last Character Battle, any halfway decent rally can muster up enough noms to get in without it.
