Damn,
nice vote totals so far in today's poll. With 2922 votes at the end of
the first hour, this poll should finish between 28000 and 31000 votes.
It would be great to see this poll break 30000 votes. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
Yesterday's
poll failed to break 30000 votes. Compared to our average vote totals
right now (about 23000), yesterday's poll received vote totals that
28.00% higher than average, which is pretty impressive given the large
majority of our polls receive anywhere between 20.00% below average to
20.00% above average (roughly 18500 to 27500 votes). Very few polls are
even capable of drawing in vote totals that are significantly higher
than average. Assuming no changes are made this year to boost vote
totals, we'll have fewer than 5 polls all year that ultimately get at
least 30000 votes. The age poll will lead the way with the highest vote
totals of the year, and even that will only be somewhere between 31000
and 34000 votes. Poll updates and trend charts for yesterday's poll: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdHpvb0FxbU5nYVJGX09SR1VERnJDcEE&gid=3 "feb-roo-er-ee" had a very weak board vote, Power Hour, ASV, and SNV. It performed best during the early morning vote, but it also had an above average night vote and late morning vote. "feb-roo-air-ee" had very consistent trends over the course of the entire poll. It performed best during the morning vote as a whole, but even that was barely better than the other time periods. "feb-yoo-air-ee" had the most extreme trends here. It had a very strong board vote and Power Hour. It dropped off slightly during the first 2 hours of the night vote. But after 3:00 AM, it dropped off really hard and performed worst between the hours of 3:00 AM to 8:00 AM. After the early morning vote wore off, it began to recover from its awful night vote and early morning vote. But it would take a few more hours before it started to go back up in percentage again. "feb-yoo-air-ee" ultimately performed best during the ASV and SNV (especially after Europe goes to sleep). Starting from the 1:00 AM mark, "feb-yoo-air-ee" lost a total of 6.12% overnight and during the morning vote to drop from 53.25% (at 1:00 AM) all the way down to 47.13% (at 1:10 PM). But after 1:10 PM, it gained a total of 1.48% to finish this poll with a final percentage of 48.61%. "feb-yoo-air-ee" never lost a single update overnight or during the morning vote, although it lost one update to "feb-roo-air-ee" near the end of the poll. It was only a 1 vote cut. "feb-yoo-er-ee", "feb-oo-er-ee", "feb-oo-wair-ee", "feb-er-wair-ee", and "feb-ree" all maintained fairly consistent trends over the course of the entire poll. "None of the above" performed worst during the board vote, Power Hour, and SNV. It performed best during the night vote and morning vote, while it had a below average ASV. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
Here is another poll that I will also track poll updates for. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
Yesterday's
poll clearly had some very interesting trends. I didn't even track
poll updates for the 12/21/2013 poll, so I used the vote total data that
GameFAQs uses to create the poll graphs in order to make trend charts
for the 12/21/2013 poll. I won't be talking about the trends of the
12/21/2013 poll, though. However, both polls are very interesting since
the trends will be different every time we have this poll. No two
polls will be similar in their trends, since this poll's results are
extremely dependent upon the overall weather conditions we have had
during this winter so far. Next winter season could end up being
completely different, with less snowy weather than this winter. Or next
winter could end up being even more brutal than this one. Poll updates and trend charts for yesterday's poll: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdGVheC1ZdEo2U1dRNnhYOVJIWkdlTkE&gid=1 "Yes, it's snowing outside right now" had a very strong board vote and Power Hour. It dropped off just slightly during the night vote, but even the night vote was above average overall. It performed better during the early morning vote, but started dropping off again after the early morning vote ended. It performed absolutely terrible during the ASV and SNV. At one point, "Yes, it's snowing outside right now" had a percentage of 12.99% at 9:40 AM, which was its highest percentage during the morning vote. After 9:40 AM, it lost a total of 2.68% for the rest of the poll to finish with 10.31% at the end. Also, "Yes, it's snowing outside right now" reached a maximum lead of 474 over "No, although there's still a chance" at the 11:35 AM update. For the last 12 1/2 hours in this poll, "No, although there's still a chance" made an attempt at a comeback, but only managed to cut a total of 353 votes off that lead to get it all the way down to 121. "No, although there's still a chance" failed to complete a comeback here. "Yes, it's not snowing right now" had a very strong board vote, but dropped off very hard after the board vote to finish with a pretty bad Power Hour. It performed even worse during the night vote, which was its worst time period. It went absolutely berserk during the morning vote and ASV, although it dropped off a bit during the SNV (due to Asia and Australia waking up again). The strange thing is the morning vote actually kicked in about 20 minutes before the traditional starting time of 6:00 AM. This suggests that Europe played a role in getting the morning vote started, although North America helped fuel the later part of the morning vote and the ASV. This is one of the few times where Europe and North America joined forces to support a certain option. "Yes, it's not snowing right now" reached its lowest percentage of 28.69% at 5:40 AM. After that point in time, it gained a total of 8.17% to reach a maximum percentage of 36.86% at 10:55 PM. The percentage dropped off just slightly during the final hour of the poll. "Not now, there was some earlier" had an awful board vote and Power Hour. It performed best during the night vote and morning vote. It dropped off after the morning vote for a slightly below average ASV, while it had a bad SNV overall. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
"No, although there's still a chance" had the most consistent trends overall, although it performed best during the ASV and SNV. "No, it never snows where I live" had a good board vote and Power Hour. It continued to remain strong during the night vote thanks to Asia here. In fact, this option actually started dropping off during the later part of the night vote because of Europe waking up, since Asia just doesn't have enough manpower to outvote Europe during the deepest part of the night vote. This option performed worst during the early morning vote, but also had a pretty bad late morning vote and ASV. Finally, this option performed best during the SNV when Asia was waking up again. "No, it never snows where I live" reached its maximum percentage of 30.33% at 2:40 AM. After that point in time, it lost a total of 7.52% to drop all the way down to 22.81% at 8:40 PM. After 8:40 PM, it gained another 0.45% to finish this poll with 23.26%. "Snow? It's summer here" had an awful board vote and slightly below average Power Hour. It performed best during the night vote and early morning vote thanks to the power of Australia and New Zealand. It performed worst during the late morning vote and continued to perform awful during the early part of the ASV. Overall, it had a fairly average ASV and SNV. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

Poll updates and trend charts for yesterday's poll: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdGpJUUUzTVd4QWZpSmdtekpKRGtDSWc&gid=1 "In my bedroom" had a good board vote and Power Hour. It continued to remain strong during the night vote. When the morning vote started, it dropped off. It was the morning vote that was the worst overall time period for "In my bedroom". It performed better during the day vote, but was never able to reach the same level of strength it had during the night vote. "In my bedroom" only lost a grand total of 7 updates to "In a family/living room" during the entire poll. Outside of the Power Hour, the highest percentage for "In my bedroom" was 59.87% at 3:20 AM. It lost a total of 4.69% over the rest of the poll to finish with a final percentage of 55.18%. "In a family/living room" had a bad board vote and Power Hour. The night vote was just as bad as the Power Hour. It performed best during the morning vote, but dropped off somewhat during the day vote and SNV. At one point, "In a family/living room" had its lowest percentage of 27.60% at 2:25 AM and went on to gain a total of 4.01% for the rest of the poll, finishing with a final percentage of 31.61%. "In a dedicated game room" and "In a home office" both had fairly consistent trends overall, and both options performed best during the morning vote. "In the bathroom" somehow had a pretty good board vote, perhaps due to joke voting. This option performed worst during the night vote and morning vote, but performed best during the day vote and SNV. "In another room" had a good Power Hour and day vote, but performed worst during the night vote and early morning vote. "I never play games at home" managed to get 2 separate hours of 0.00%, where it didn't get a single vote. But it also had one hour where it managed to get over 1%. Other than that, there isn't much else to talk about due to this option's low percentage. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

Well, consider yourself lucky that today's poll actually has an option for "I've never seen a single Star Wars movie". --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
With
only 2361 votes at the end of the first hour, this poll is on track to
finish between 23000 and 25000 votes. That would be only barely higher
than our average vote totals right now. Vote totals on this poll have been less than impressive so far and that's even with an option for "I've never seen a single Star Wars movie", which wasn't listed as an option in the 2003 and 2005 polls. And the 2005 poll, lacking the extra option that is in today's poll, received fairly average vote totals compared to the average vote totals during December 2005. So the addition of the extra option in today's poll appears to have no boost in vote totals by allowing the non-Star Wars group to vote in this poll. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

Poll updates and trend charts for yesterday's poll: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdEtHaExxREZCb3VVTnB0SVY4eC1OdlE&gid=1 "The Phantom Menace" had fairly consistent trends, but performed best during the night vote and morning vote and worst during the ASV and SNV. "Attack of the Clones" had trends very similar to "The Phantom Menace", with a good night vote and morning vote and bad ASV and SNV. "Revenge of the Sith" had a strong board vote and good Power Hour and SNV. It performed worst during the night vote, morning vote, and ASV. "A New Hope" had a weak board vote, but ultimately finished with a good Power Hour. It performed worst during the night vote and morning vote, which was a bit surprising. With the morning vote more likely to be composed of the "older voter demographic" (over 30 years old), I assumed the older voters were more likely to vote for "A New Hope" or one of the other 2 movies from the original trilogy since those 3 movies would have been released around the time they were born or while growing up. Anyways, back to the trends. After the morning vote, "A New Hope" went on to have an above average ASV and a bad SNV. "The Empire Strikes Back" had the most noticeable trends out of the 6 movies in this poll. It had a really weak board vote, bad Power Hour, night vote, and early morning vote. It performed best during the late morning vote, ASV, and SNV. During the entire poll, "The Empire Strikes Back" only lost a grand total of 2 updates to "Return of the Jedi" and both of them were 1 vote cuts. "Return of the Jedi" had an awful board vote and a slightly below average Power Hour. It performed best during the night vote and early morning vote. The late morning vote and ASV were slightly below average, while it performed worst during the SNV. "Never seen a single movie" had a pretty good board vote, but quickly dropped off after the board vote. The good board vote for this option is a sign that we could expect Star Wars characters to be anti-voted at the start of a match (if we ever get a Character Battle that allows them), but the anti-voting would quickly die down after the freeze kicks in. Star Wars in general appears to be far less anti-voted than Final Fantasy VII, with the level of anti-voting not even reaching any level of serious concern. FFVII would have required both the night vote and morning vote to reach its highest playrate of the day during an FFVII playrate poll, while the Star Wars movie series got through the Power Hour with a viewership that was only slightly higher than its final viewership at the end of the poll. The Power Hour, night vote, and early morning vote were above average for "Never seen a single movie". The trends during these 3 time periods were decided by Asia, as it was Asia that has the lowest viewership for the Star Wars movies out of all the continents. "Never seen a single movie" performs the worst during the late morning vote, ASV, and SNV. At one point, "Never seen a single movie" reached its highest percentage of 11.92% at 6:45 AM and then lost exactly 1.00% for the rest of the poll to finish with a final percentage of 10.92%. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

Poll updates and trend charts for yesterday's poll: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdFFLMFE0bXZEeFh3V2Q0aURMYjFTenc&gid=1 Battlefront was fairly average during the board vote/Power Hour. It was at its weakest during the night vote and morning vote, but performed best during the ASV and SNV. "Dark Forces / Jedi Knight" had a weak board vote and below average Power Hour. It performed best during the night vote. The morning vote and ASV were fairly average overall, while it had a bad SNV. "Knights of the Old Republic" had a terrible board vote and bad Power Hour. Even the night vote was only slightly better than the Power Hour. It performed best during the morning vote, ASV, and SNV. "LEGO Star Wars" was pretty well balanced throughout the poll minus the bad Power Hour and SNV. "Rogue Squadron" was all board vote and Power Hour, as it was bleeding percentage for nearly the entire poll. "Super Star Wars" was also very consistent overall, minus a bad SNV. "The Force Unleashed" had a good morning vote and ASV, but fairly average in every other time period. "X-Wing / TIE Fighter" had the most consistent trends if the board vote was ignored. "Never played a single game" performed best during the board vote and Power Hour. This falls in line with the Star Wars movie poll where the equivalent option in that poll performed best during the same time period. It also supports the theory that I expect Star Wars characters to have a very minor anti-vote at the start of matches, if we ever got to see them in a Character Battle. After the Power Hour ends, this option slowly becomes progressively weaker as this poll drags along, performing worst during the ASV and SNV. I expected the "Never played a single game" option to get a higher percentage compared to the equivalent option in the movie poll, but I was quite impressed at the overall playrate for the entire Star Wars game series on this site. With a playrate of 85.87% on this site, the Star Wars series falls less than 4% short of the playrate for one or more games in the Final Fantasy series. When combined with the 89.08% viewership for one or more movies, you have around 90% of the site exposed to Star Wars in some form or another, and probably at least 80% of the site has been exposed to both the movies and the games. This looks really good for the prospect of seeing Star Wars characters in a Character Battle that allows fictional characters. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
