GTA V is looking pretty good in this poll. It may be getting doubled by Skyrim, but that's a game with roughly the same amount of strength as the likes of Melee and FFX.

It seems like GTA V will probably be around the same strength as the previous 4 GTA games (going back to GTA III).

Well, that's assuming Skyrim still has that level of strength (or ever had that level of strength).

Who knows if we'll ever get to find out, or if it'll matter if we do get a Games Contest because of the prevalence of outside interference and Bacon's proclivity for bad formats.

Resident Evil 5 was in the same division as Grand Theft Auto III in GotD and was worth like 48% on it in the stats.

Now it's getting almost tripled by Grand Theft Auto V.

I don't think we'll have a poll called "What's your all-time favorite '5' game?" for Poll 5555 because there are less notable "5" games than "4" games. The biggest name "5" games are Skyrim, GTA V, Final Fantasy V, Suikoden V, Resident Evil 5, Tekken 5, Mega Man 5, and Mega Man X5.

Outside of Skyrim, FFV, and GTA V, most of those games are worse than the games we had in the "4" game poll.

Isn't this a pretty common thing for GTA? It feels like it's one of those "Draws lots of anti-votes" games, so the more options, the more those votes get spread out.

And then in GotD, through FFX matches:
Golden Sun is projected to 39.75% on RE4.
San Andreas is projected to get 36.82% on RE4.

Considering that GS > GTA:SA took place on Golden Sun: Dark Dawn's release date, there was advertising on the front page for Dark Dawn, and "NOT THAT SAME MATCH PICTURE AGAIN ARGH," San Andreas might be slightly underrated by the GotD stats. However, Vice City only got 34.31% on RE4 directly, so probably not by much - San Andreas = Golden Sun would be extremely generous.

So there could be something to that.

Damn, the Vita has a extremely terrible board vote. The last option managed to stay over 70% for the first 2 minutes. In the previous Vita poll from about 6 months ago, the last option finished around 50%.

I seriously hope the Vita doesn't take a step backwards regarding its ownership on this site. I don't think the Vita will finish with a lower ownership compared to the previous poll, as the night vote should cause the Vita's ownership to rise.

243 games in a 3-way games contest, because these unorthodox formats always stick around longer than they should!

PS4 has finished with 24.21% ownership. Even though the PS4 has started out better than the Wii U so far, it's possible the PS4 could finish this year with a lower ownership than what the Wii U had by the end of its first full year. Wii U barely finished above 30% by the end of 2013.

Tomorrow will be very interesting, because we will finally get to see what kind of impact Mario Kart 8 had on the Wii U. If Wii U has over 45% ownership tomorrow, I will declare Mario Kart 8 a success. 40-45% ownership would be okay in my opinion, while under 40% would suggest Mario Kart 8 was a failure in selling the Wii U to the hardcore gamers that visit this site.

Xbox One ownership has risen to 9.84% in yesterday's poll. Poor Xbox One, it has gained very little ownership over the past 6 months and is slightly over double the ownership it had on launch day. With a Kinect free Xbox One now available ($100 cheaper than the Kinect version) and Microsoft's excellent E3 showing where they showed off games for their entire press conference, the Xbox One should begin doing slightly better.

Today is Wii U and it is currently at 41.28% ownership. That is pretty decent, I suppose. I wasn't expecting Mario Kart 8 to have a huge impact on ownership on this site. Mario Kart 8 was the one game that could sell Wii Us to the casual gamers, but of course this site isn't a casual oriented place. GameFAQs is filled with hardcore gamers and Mario Kart 8 wasn't going to have the same impact on that group as it had on casual gamers.

The night vote really killed the Wii U here. Now the Wii U is sitting at 35.90% ownership.

Based on Wii U's ownership right now, it seems like Mario Kart 8 was a failure in boosting Wii U ownership on this site. Keep in mind that Wii U had 30.22% ownership at the end of last year. By the time Mario Kart 8 came out, I think Wii U was sitting around 33% ownership, so Mario Kart 8 boosted Wii U's ownership by less than 4%. That's not what you want from a system seller.

I still think Smash Bros. will be the game that generates a significant boost in Wii U ownership.

raytan: Champ without picking the champ

Wii U has finished yesterday with an ownership of 35.86%. I was quite disappointed with Mario Kart 8's impact on Wii U ownership, but at least we have Smash Bros. near the end of this year to really boost ownership. The next mainline Zelda game is the last line of defense for the Wii U on this site if there are users who still haven't bought into Wii U when Smash Bros. comes out.

I was never trying to imply that Mario Kart 8 was a system seller on this site. If Mario Kart 8 was truly considered a system seller among this site's users, it would have done much better than increasing Wii U's ownership by less than 3%.

Obviously Mario Kart 8 is a great system seller for the casuals, but not for the hardcore gamers that visit this site.

In yesterday's poll, iPhone's ownership increased to 22.99%, while Android has increased to 48.34%. iPhone came really close to losing ownership since the previous poll at the end of last year, but a strong day vote and SNV allowed iPhone to gain enough percentage to finish with a slightly higher ownership compared to the previous poll.

PS3 ownership has increased to 69.46% in yesterday's poll. It is the highest ownership recorded by the PS3 and it happens after PS4 is already on the market. PS3 came pretty close to reaching 70%, which would have been an amazing accomplishment considering everything the PS3 has been through during its lifecycle. Getting off to a very slow start and Sony doing everything they could to bring the PS3 back from the brink of death.
