Pokemon XY vs ALBW is going to be hot Really,it will be as good as any contest match Oh and 3D World results here are pretty spot-on...it's the only Nintendo game in the poll so it should be stronger Also GTA V only came out to PS3 and XBOX360 and The Last of US is PS3 exclusive so the LFF between the two is pretty big But still,no matter how good Mario 3D World is,it's still a Wii U game so it shouldn't do THAT good...so I would say it's a spot-on It's too early to call TLOU the GOTY winner, for the first time ever we are going to have a handheld game be the strongest Nintendo game in the year (Either Pokemon or Zelda,we shall see) |
It
is strange for a handheld game to be Nintendo's strongest game of the
year, but that's what happens when you have a struggling Wii U. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

Trend charts and poll updates for the poll from 2 days ago: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdGVlOVdUZVhXeGwtZUNJaHdXSnloWkE&gid=1 BioShock: Infinite had the most balanced trends here. Grand Theft Auto V had a terrible board vote and Power Hour - no surprise there. It went on to have a good night vote and morning vote. It performed below average for the last several hours of the poll. Super Mario 3D World had a strong board vote and Power Hour, and then it dropped off slightly during the night vote. It did better during the morning vote and performed worst during the last 9 1/2 hours of the poll (including the traditional ASV period and SNV). Though this was a weekend poll, so we didn't have normal weekday trends. The Last of Us had a below average board vote and then finished the Power Hour looking strong. It dropped off slightly during the night vote, but performed worst during the early morning vote. It performed best during the last 9 1/2 hours of the poll, including a very strong SNV. Tomb Raider had an above average board vote and a fairly average Power Hour. It performed best during the night vote and early morning vote, but collapsed for the rest of the poll (starting from 9:00 AM when we transition to day vote trends on a weekend). --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
So Luster do you keep tracking today poll? Probably some trends regarding the last option but Christianity is world-wide so there are not supposed to be crazy trends between USA and Europe Can be interesting to see how the % of people celebrating Christmas is for USA and for Europe though |
I'm
not tracking updates for today's poll. But it doesn't really matter
since it's still possible for me to do trend charts even without any
poll updates. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
The
"New GameFAQs T-Shirts" section on the main boards page was removed
earlier today and replaced with "GameSpot News Headlines". What the f*** Bacon, you decide to get rid of the "New GameFAQs T-Shirts" and replace it that piece of trash when you could have given us the Poll of the Day on the main boards page. It would be a small improvement over the current vote totals we have right now, but there's still the problem of first time visitors coming off Google without ever visiting the homepage or the main boards page. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
-LusterSoldier- posted... We're only a month away from the start of the GotY polls and it's going to suck seeing most of them getting under 20000 votes. Our average vote totals in the entire month of November was a pathetic 32469 votes. And for comparison, November 2012 averaged 40765 votes per day. totally called the votal drops back during the middle of the contest |
I just noticed there's a huge difference between today's poll and the same poll we had back in 2009. http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/5353 http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/3595 The poll from 2009 happened before we started having the huge vote total drop. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

It would be pretty cool if there was a mini best game of 2013 1v1 contest instead of the usual It would be pretty hard to condense that kind of contest into a time span of 20 days or less. Keep in mind that we had a total of 90 different games represented during the GotY 2012 polls, so it doesn't seem right to run a mini-contest with only 16 games or even 32 games. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

Gotta bet on LoZ:LBW, though Pokemon XY will be unstoppable if it's anything like Pokemon in our last contest. Pokemon XY should be a fair amount stronger than Black 2/White 2, which nearly knocked out Xenoblade in the JRPG poll. Assuming there are no other Nintendo games in the overall GotY, Pokemon XY is in a good position to finish 3rd overall this year, behind TLoU and GTA V. I can't think of any other mainstream games that could even threaten Pokemon. Batman: Arkham Origins was a disappointment. Call of Duty and Battlefield won't be making any impact this year. Assassin's Creed is going to be held back because of the yearly release syndrome. So that eliminates almost every other game that could threaten Pokemon for 3rd overall. Super Mario 3D World has the best chance to threaten Pokemon and hold it back at the same time. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

Zelda
would probably be more likely to hold Pokemon back in the overall GotY
poll. If Bacon does what he did last year by doing genre polls, that
would mean Zelda would be thrown into the Action/Adventure category and
completely avoid coming into contact with Pokemon until the overall GotY
poll. However, this means Zelda would face off against TLoU in the
Action/Adventure poll and we know Zelda has no chance of winning that
match. If Bacon goes back to doing system categories for each poll (before the overall GotY), that would be the only way Zelda has a chance to make to the overall GotY poll, but it has to muscle its way past Pokemon to do so. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

This
poll result is not good at all. During the last contest, there was a
running joke about how this site stopped playing games after 2006. It
was mainly creativename who threw that idea around during the contest,
although other people believed that as well. Well, this poll result would somewhat prove the theory this site stopped playing games after 2006. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |
Nah.
This site just largely never started caring about a lot of the games
and genres that are popular elsewhere on the internet - or perhaps, the
people that would do that either left or never started coming here in
the first place. And considering this is a site where Crono used to have
epic popularity polls against freaking Mario, I'd say it was never on
the same page with the rest of the gaming community to begin with. Admittedly the modern entries even by companies like Nintendo, Capcom, and Square aren't as popular here as the older ones, but that's true in the gaming community at large - gamefaqs is on the same page as them on that. Whether or not Ocarina of Time could beat Skyrim or League of Legends or whatever on some other site, it would still be vastly ahead of Skyward Sword there. Really, if you want go that route, you might as well say gamefaqs stopped playing games after 1998 and it would work almost as well. --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] [NO raytan NO PEACE] |
I wouldn't be surprised if Crono would take it to Mario on another site...in the early 2000s. --- Play Pac-Man World 2. |

I'm not ready to take that for granted, especially if LoZ:LBW is the only Nontendo-game in the poll. It's one thing when Skyrim beat LoZ:SS, for example, but TLoU isn't multi-platform (or from an established series) and LoZ:LBW is on a thriving system. It'll probably be competitive, but TLoU is no lock. I
used to think Pokemon>LBW was a lock before LBW release (the hype
for LBW was nothing compared to the hype of Pokemon) and a few days
later But LBW was recieved far better than I expected and it's still mentioned in GOTY lists while Pokemon..slightely less so It also won Gamespot GOTY so that's something (and Pokemon is not even in the honorable mentions) Also,GTA V WILL LFF The Last of Us,you can be certain of it Bioshock Infinite is also turd of the year...I have no idea why it's still hanging around "with the big guys" because it never wins a single award and just inferior to GTA V and TLOU in every way (aside from those 2 songs, but I don't like them so maybe im wrong) |

As
usual, GameSpot continues its tradition of allowing the site's users to
vote for their Game of the Year. Here are the results so far: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/people-s-choice-for-game-of-the-year-2013/1100-6416813/ The top 5 games: The Last of Us - 28% Bioshock Infinite - 15% Grand Theft Auto V - 14% Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - 9% The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - 5% Tomb Raider - 5% There was a tie for the 5th place spot, so I listed them both. While ALBW won GotY from GameSpot's staff, the site's users don't care as much about the game. Once again, we see another case where the gamers as a whole prefer console games over handheld games. ALBW will have a hard time beating out TLoU in the GameFAQs GotY polls. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

ownership has reached 66.89% less than 6 months later. I guess Pokemon

The
2DS is pretty ugly, isn't as portable without its open-close feature,
and probably aimed at a younger demographic. 2% from the 3DS's recent
16%-increase doesn't surprise me. Speaking of the 3DS, BOLD PREDICTION: 3DS is taking System of the Year home. 2012 SotY: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/4963 Whether or not The Last of Us wins Game of the Year, Pokemon X/Y and Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds are contenders -- much moreso than Kid Icarus: Uprising and New Super Mario Bros. 2 were last year (or any handheld-game to date here, really). This is on top of Nintendo's recent success with Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, and Animal Crossing. We also have new consoles to split support for Sony and Microsoft. Expect divided votes if we see the 360/One and the PS3/PS4 all in the same poll. We saw this before with the Xbox/360 and PS2/PS3: 2005 SotY: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/2255 2006 SotY: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/2631 This will particularly be a boon to Sony since the PS3 has TLoU as their exclusive while PS4 has almost all of the next-gen hype here. Alternatively, we could see the PS3/360 be replaced by the PS4/One like what happened with the Wii U/Wii last year and Wii/Gamecube in 2006; this will lead to their low ownership and lack of games killing their chances against the 3DS. Neither the PS4 nor One will pull a Wii-2006 -- their ownership won't get half of the Wii's 34.33% by New Year's, and LoZ:TP/Wii Sports smokes their current libraries. The rise of PC's a big question mark and maybe the Wii U will bother the 3DS more this year with some games under its belt, but I think we're about to see our first handheld-SotY. --- M E N: nominate Metal Man in 20XX! http://i.imgur.com/Dr4NAeq.png |

Yes, I have to admit the 2DS is butt ugly. I don't think the 3DS will win System of the Year this year. We've seen from previous SotY polls that voters do not consider each system's game library from the past year when voting in the poll. They simply vote for their favorite system overall. Back in 2011, Xbox 360 failed to win System of the Year even though the biggest game of the year, Skyrim, was far more popular on the 360 than the PS3. In addition, the PS3 version of Skyrim was notorious for being very buggy and had a whole host of issues. The 3DS does have one advantage this year. We'll almost definitely see PS3/PS4 and 360/One in the same poll this year. And as we saw in SotY 2006 (PS2 and PS3) and 2011 (DS and 3DS), the LFF is brutal. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as raytan7585, Guru Champ! |

Vita has gained about 5% ownership over the past year after having 17.36% ownership by the end of its first year.
