I'm quite surprised that today poll was not about Call of Duty Ghosts Just how big a game needs to be to have a "got X?" poll for it? This year only Pokemon XY and GTA V got a "GOT X?" poll,last year Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and Pokemon BlackWhite 2 got it And for some reason I don't see more results before 2012 when I search the term "got" |

this is a very interesting poll. It's amazing how changing one word in
the poll question can have a significant effect on the results when

Man, vote totals really suck on this poll, compared to the same poll yesterday. To be fair, I'll blame this on voters from yesterday not realizing that today's poll is a completely different poll since the wording of the question is nearly identical except for the 2014/2023 part. Xbox One has the lowest hype for any system I can think of in
GameFAQs-history. The Playstation 3, original Xbox, and Dreamcast all

From today's poll right now: It's a great idea, and I plan on doing it myself 2.03% From the same poll back in 2006: It's a great idea, and I plan to do it myself! 10.27% What a fall from grace for the first option in today's poll compared to the same poll back in 2006. Another thing worth noting is that the poll from back in 2006 got almost 40000 votes despite being located below a contest match, which means vote totals were cut in half for the 2006 poll. don't see how the "taking advantage of people" option is doing so well.

PS4 has better launch titles than the PS3 and it's $200 cheaper, and
yet the PS4 is struggling to beat the PS3's launch day ownership right
now. I know the PS4's ownership will increase throughout the day, but
it's in a bad position to finish with a lower ownership than the Wii U

The
PS4's launch titles aren't great, but it's better than what the PS3
had. PS3's biggest launch title was Resistance: Fall of Man. Also, the PS4 has a bigger line-up of launch titles. think people didn't hate Microsoft,it's just that they found it weird
that a company that creates operation systems and softwares is now
making a video game console It was pretty weird back then...of course,now we are getting used to it as companies such as Valve and Nvidia are making consoles... But I won't be surprised if a totally unrelated company like Coca Cola decides to make a video game console just for the heck of it |

So if that happens, well be ready for another crash. Though then again maybe not, seeing how the strength of the SNES and Genesis was enough to prevent another crash from happening in spite of a similar "deluge" of consoles in the mid-'90s (e.g. all those Genesis add-ons, 3DO, Jaguar, Virtual Boy), one would think...actually no I don't think the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii U would be enough. Darn I think we might have to brace for another crash. Loads of disappointing/poorly-received games like Final Fantasy XIII, Duke Nukem Forever, Resident Evil 6, and Aliens: Colonial Marines all coming out over the past few years doesn't help matters, to say nothing about the most hated mainstream gaming franchise really getting big in the same time. --- Play Pac-Man World 2. |
It's
official - PlayStation 4 has finished with 8.48% ownership. I don't
think we'll ever see another console launch with over 10% ownership in
the future because the average age of GameFAQs continues to increase,
along with decreasing interest in next-generation systems and less
willingness to buy a console at launch since many of us are working and

Sounds a bit...contradictory I think it's more like time problem...people at this age are working and studying,and while in free time it's ok to play video games...we no longer have as much free time as we had back then I also think that MOBA games are responsible,though im alone with this opinion here I think The amount of people that play Dota 2 and LoL for hours a day is not something that can be ignored IMO |
Counting
only the US and Canada, PS4 ownership was over 10%. Not being
available in Europe, Asia, or South America yet means that the PS4's
overall ownership was under 9% on the launch day. So in a way, the PS4
did manage over 10% ownership in the countries that got it yesterday. I just updated my spreadsheet for game system ownership: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdDZFV2I1SFl4VXFDMjQ2RmJqUXJTd0E I overhauled the list by removing the Mac from that spreadsheet as we've only had a total of 2 "Got Mac?" polls during the entire history of GameFAQs and the Mac is even less relevant than the PC on this site. I have no idea what happened to the Wii between 9/27/2009 and 12/29/2009. As for the Xbox 360, the last poll was very flawed: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/5138 Ownership is lower than usual in that poll because there is a poll option for "I used to, but I lost/sold/broke/trashed it". Saw
an ad for this random 1v1 style console battle on the gaming wiki just
now. The votals are awful (literally looks like it's on pace for 5 votes
per hour atm), but it looks like Round 3 started about 8 hours ago and
there are a lot of close/interesting matches. I thought someone here
might be interested. I'd think GBA > GB would happen here. GB has Pokemon, Link's Awakening, and Tetris and that's basically it. I still like some of the original GB's other games but I don't think they've had any staying power in the public's general gaming consciousness, even at a place like gamefaqs. Everything else from its library has been forgotten or dismissed as forgettable. Way too many inferior spinoffs of NES/SNES platformers plus all of its non-pokemon RPGs are going to be worthless. Pokemon and Link's Awakening would beat any non-port games on the GBA but I don't think that means people are going to say GB was better overall.
