Kremlings are already in the bracket. And that nobody remembers what Zingers are called is probably a good reason not to put them in. Would still probably be better than Klaptrap, though. Unless we're getting Claptrap vs. Klaptrap, there's not really any point to having the latter. Even Reptites or something would probably be better!

Thinking Yoshi is the only threat in that bracket at all to an all-pokemon Final Four, but I guess that's just the nature of this format. Would take Bulbasaur to win that division, though.

Polls for the next 4 days:

10/4/2013 - I don't know. Probably an original poll idea.
10/5/2013 - Why are you visiting GameFAQs today?
10/6/2013 - By the end of this year, which of the next-generation consoles do you plan to own?
10/7/2013 - Over the course of your life, how many different Pokemon have you caught?

I am really hyped up for the poll on October 5th, because of this:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/3562

"I'm just here for the Poll" will have very extreme trends as it starts out with a ridiculous percentage with the board vote and then bleeds percentage for the entire poll.

Hey you never know, Pokemon might experience an anti-voting for what they did this contest, so Charizard might lose to Goomba, Pikachu to Koopa Troopa and then Yoshi wins it all!

Maybe we can remove species that have obtained character status, for example in Pokemon, none of the starters, legendaries and Smash guys are allowed, no green Yoshis in the picture etc.

Might make Mario enemies too unopposed and Yoshi probably doesn't get hurt too much.

But how do you define "character status"? Mario enemies have character status too, they are playable in Mario Sports games, so you'd have to ban them all as well.

You could just say no one from a prior contest, but that's not fair to characters like Slime, who definitely fit the theme.

Doesn't work. You fight Pokemon in the wild, so they count as generic enemies. You'd only be banning Toad, Yoshi, Goron, Gerudo, Zora etc.

Actually Zora are enemies in some games, but I figure the popular version is from OoT.

Metroid games aren't strong, I'm not sure why anyone would expect metroids themselves to be top three material.

Man this is probably the sad reality. I think I just remembered Metroid Prime finishing in the top 10 in the Game of the Decade x-stats and how Samus seemed to perform better in 2010 and 2013 than she did before (well...it was probably only 2010, I'm for some reason tempted to throw 2013 in there as well but it was probably only because I expected alpha-DmC to kill more of Samus's strength than it seemed to do).

Or perhaps I think that a close win over Half-Life 2 and a close loss to Fallout 3 indicate an extremely strong game since both those games are ranked in the top 5 in unikgamer lol. Speaking of which, I still firmly think last contest indicated that the top quarter of the GOTD bracket was overrated in the stats, likely due to Fallout 3 overperforming against Brawl, which itself likely happened because of Fallout 3 being a "more defining Game of the Decade" or something.

Reading and posting on the boards 26.61% 103
Just browsing, reading reviews, looking at games 15.76% 61
All of the above 9.56% 37
I'm just here for the Poll 43.93% 170
TOTAL VOTES 387

Only 43.93% at the freeze? Back when we had this poll in 2009, that option ended up with 34.27% in the final results. I expect "I'm just here for the Poll" to have some extreme trends, so it will probably finish with a lower percentage compared to the 2009 poll.

"I'm just here for the Poll" should be a lot stronger now. People who are looking for other stuff on the site don't go through the front page as much anymore making every other option weaker. However, people who come for the poll will still seek out the poll on the front page so it should lose the least amount of strength.

Not only is that option stronger now, but "Reading and posting on the boards" is also doing much better in this poll because most of the people who regularly vote in the poll happen to be registered users who know where to find the poll.

I admit some of the recent polls have been terrible lately. Such as the 3 polls related to Steam, which all got under 30000 votes. Thank god most of those polls will never be re-run in the future.

Hopefully by the end of this month, we'll be back to averaging closer to 40000 votes a day.

It took this long to get a poll worth tracking poll updates for because we've had 3 weeks of terrible polls all related to video games.

Since the start of the TDZ, "I'm just here for the Poll" has been consistently gaining percentage. I'm guessing when the morning vote finally kicks, it will start losing percentage again.

Since 11:10 AM, "I'm just here for the Poll" has been consistently losing percentage after gaining percentage consistently between 4:00 AM and 11:00 AM. I think it will end up losing another 1% to 2% over the remainder of this poll.

"I need help on a game" and "Just browsing, reading reviews, looking at games" have been eating up most of the lost percentage from "I'm just here for the Poll".

Gamefaqs with another "screw modern gaming" poll result.

Probably both today's poll and yesterday's poll, really. If so many people are here solely for the poll of the day, that means they're not using the site to check out, seek help for, or discuss new games. "Reading and posting on the boards" probably isn't going to be a very new game-friendly group either.

Not that I'm complaining!

Today's poll has much different results than this poll from 2006:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/2375

In that poll, 45.61% of the site was interested in a PS3 despite the monster price tag of $499/$599. But in today's poll, only 32.49% of the site is interested in the PS4 despite a much more reasonable price tag of just $399.

Poll updates and trend charts for yesterday's poll:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdHJfUzJKYmpNMGQ1WGlrdV9FRTJXbWc&gid=1

The results of yesterday's poll explains everything that is wrong with the inability of the PotD to bring in much higher vote totals despite SBAllen's claims that traffic is much higher today than it was 5 years ago. When we had this poll in 2009, "I need help on a game" got 15.04%. Yesterday, it got just 6.86%, less than half of what it got in 2009. Also, "All of the above" dropped from 13.19% in 2009 to 9.06% yesterday. At the same time, "I'm just here for the Poll" went from 34.27% in 2009 to 38.94% in yesterday's poll. "Reading and posting on the boards" also went from 21.39% in 2009 to 25.43% in yesterday's poll.

Some of our polls would probably have much different results if the people who bypassed the site's home page actually voted in the poll. These people would probably have a slightly different taste in games compared to the current audience that still votes in these polls, which could certainly affect our match results in the contests.

"I need help on a game" started off the poll with a very terrible board vote and Power Hour. It did slightly better in the night vote, but even that was still terrible. The early morning vote and late morning vote was better than the night vote, but still below average. "I need help on a game" continued the trend of slowly getting stronger as the poll went on, similar to the classic FFVII trends from 2008 and earlier contests. "I need help on a game" performed best during the last few hours of the poll, where it got over 10% for the final 7 hours. In the final hour of the poll, "I need help on a game" turned up the heat and got over 14% in the final hour. Near the end of the poll, "I need help on a game" managed to win a single update over "I'm just here for the Poll".

"Reading and posting on the boards" started out somewhat bad with the board vote, but I'll blame that on "I'm just here for the Poll" dominating the board vote. After the board vote ended, "Reading and posting on the boards" recovered very nicely to finish over 30% at the end of the Power Hour. This would be the only hour that "Reading and posting on the boards" got over 30%. "Reading and posting on the boards" had a fairly average night vote overall, but it did collapse at the start of the TDZ and did terrible from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM. It performed slightly better during the late morning vote and day vote, but it still slightly worse than its night vote. Finally, it performed worst during the last 7 hours of the poll.

"Just browsing, reading reviews, looking at games" easily performed worst in the board vote and Power Hour. It had a below average night vote and early morning vote. The late morning vote and day vote was fairly average overall. It performed best during the last few hours of the poll. Overall, the trends were very similar to "I need help on a game", but they were less extreme here.

"All of the above" had very balanced trends over the course of the entire poll. Nothing to see here.

"I'm just here for the Poll" had a strong board vote and Power Hour, although I was surprised it didn't do better during those time period when compared to the night vote and morning vote. "I'm just here for the Poll" continued to remain strong during the night vote. At the start of the TDZ, "I'm just here for the Poll" started during slightly better compared to the early part of the night vote. The early morning vote was slightly better than the the night vote. After 11:10 AM, "I'm just here for the Poll" finally started going down in percentage consistently and lost a total of 3.17% after this point in time. After 2:00 PM, "I'm just here for the Poll" never got a single hour over 35% and also managed to get below 30% in a single hour.

None of Them is doing over 4% better than it did 4 months ago. A lot of that can probably be blamed on Xbox One's already meager support collapsing even further.

You know what? Master Chief losing to Magus wouldn't be embarrassing enough at this point and I've got an alternative who both might be around Magus's strength by now and would bring things full circle for Chief.

In retrospect I don't think Squall even was a bad draw for Geno, other than Squall being way out of his league. (Though we definitely didn't need see Squall/Geno twice.) If Terra only got 28.5% on Dante, Geno getting 25.16% on Squall sounds about as good as could be reasonably expected.

And I don't think Chief is stronger now than in 2003, actually. He used to be but he's dropped considerably.

46% on Yuna in a day match is already unimpressive considering Chief's day power. But Yuna was also being hurt by Not-Chief LFF. Probably more substantial LFF than that too, considering it was two female Japanese characters mostly on Sony systems both with prominent ass in the match pic. Chief might not get much over 40% on Yuna in a 24-hour 1-on-1 match.

Now, what did Chief do in 2003 after that Felix match?

http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/1343

Regardless of whether Yuna could beat Aeris now, Yuna certainly doesn't beat 2003 near-elite Aeris that threatened Sonic the Hedgehog. Given that, calling Chief 2013 as strong as Chief 2003 might actually be generous to current Chief.

I noticed this as well, but I'll blame that on the E3 hype dying off. The last time we had this poll, Xbox One still had a lot of restrictions in place. A few weeks later, Microsoft finally backed off and removed most of the restrictions of the Xbox One. Now they've also taken away the requirement that you need Kinect hooked up to use the Xbox One.

Also, if you compared this poll to the previous poll we had before E3 started, you'll notice that interest in the PS4 has dropped as well. In the poll from 5/30/2013, 38.19% of the site wanted to get a PS4 by the end of this year. In today's poll, interest in the PS4 has dropped to 34.39%. Interest for the Xbox One was at 9.87% on 5/30/2013, which has dropped to 7.27% in today's poll. Interest in the Wii U is nearly identical between both polls.
