My intention is also not to "smear" anyone, although I am annoyed, but rather to actually tell people the truth about what happened instead of lying to the community. It's especially annoying when we were asked to pretend the removal was a misunderstanding -- clearing everyone but us of the blame -- and then going and taking credit for fixing it and eventually blaming us for screwing everything up.

Why is link so strong on this site? Don't get me wrong, I like link. Link to the past is one of my favorite games of all time. But I've not loved any since then. Big metal gear solid fan since the first ps1 game. Solid always gets my vote. I think any winner of the contest should be retired. Not for long cause that's not fair to them. But for for prob two years. Give other characters a chance to win. However I do support the rallies. Makes things interesting. Lol. Something else to consider when making a bracket. I lost bad but I still loved this contest. Let's do it again. I'll do better next time. Lol

He's the protagonist of the site's most popular series. In that sense, 46-47% of people voting Solid Snake over Link is kind of miraculous. Metal Gear is popular enough but runs far behind the Zeldas and Marios and Final Fantasies of the world.

After all the crazy **** that went down over the past couple weeks, I'm obviously extremely doubtful over the screenshot of the conversation. How many times has something seemed really sketchy only to have a logical explanation? The most interesting thing, to me at least, is the section of text that is blocked out. IF, I repeat, IF this conversation is true, I wonder if Allen was facing legal issues that caused him to reverse course, and that's what's being bleeped out.

It does seem to me though that the blocked out name of the "admin" has more characters than SBAllen's screen name from the AMA chat. The names on Reddit do have that border around them though, so...hmm.

Also, we finished the board vote with 846 votes, which is definitely higher than some of our normal 5 minute freezes during the contest. It's also great to get back to having normal 5 minute freezes again. The new poll results pages were a little glitchy and would cause random freezes at any point in time during the first 5 minutes.

The last 33 hours have left me feeling pretty down. Another contest ended, this one the worst contest ever (villains doesn't count), and no telling when Crono will be able to next win a 1v1 match. And Draven is probably gone forever. This is the feeling you people would have if you succeeded in getting Link retired.

Well guys it was fun mostly. It had its bad parts but for the most part I did enjoy this contest, and posting in here specifically. Tidus/Missingno was great and Mega Man/Charizard is what we should LIVE FOR. Link/Draven is unlike anything we've ever seen and of course, HAYTERFAQs.

Probably won't see me in here unless we get another contest. Thanks for putting up with me for the past few months. Cheers.

2004 had Jill/Hayabusa/CATSglitch and three incredible Frog matches. It also had uncertainty around the finals and, IIRC, B8 was split down the middle between Link and Cloud. So yeah 2004 was better than this.

So it was Allen all along. Yikes. This drama. If I were him i would not address this at all.

My opinion, :
So he tried to save the contest during Draven vs Mewtwo vs Seph and then reversed the decision the same day. This later led to a huge clusterf**** during the final where accusations were flying all over the place and essentially led to r/LoL declaring war on this place.

The best way to handle this situation from the start was to allow a reddit rally, but only 1 reddit rally. let them have their one thread. Instruct mods to delete other threads that come up. If the one thread falls off the front page, tough luck. Similarly, stricter action should have happened here and people should have been moderated for organizing downvoting rallies and creating fake topics, which was the stupidest s*** ever and caused way more harm than good. look at that celebration topic and how many people are calling some of you out on that.

tl;dr: A combination of Board 8's rashness and Allen's indecisiveness is the main cause of Draven winning and the drama that's been happening since, and the fact that r/LoL has thousands of people to rally from is pretty much a secondary factor.

Truly, I would not mind having all previous winners retired and then put in a separate bracket or something later. New characters could fight against the popular characters that haven't won, and we won't have 6-time winners. Much more interesting contests without Link, Samus, and Cloud, IMHO.

and I truly did like this contest, despite the boring last half of the finals. Although I would've had it without the giant rallies and rally wars, it made it interesting. So I enjoyed this.

Oh yeah, the Rivalry Rumble is definitely the worst. I remember almost nothing from that contest.

2004 was actually pretty good. We thought it was bad at the time, and it was compared to our first 3 contests all of which were great. But compared to modern contests 2004 was pretty good. Plus my bracket scored 189/192, 2 matches away from a perfect, which is nice.

Though that was the height of groupthink on this board. I was eliminated from the Guru when Jill lost to Hayabusa by 27 votes. It was a 1 point round 1 match, about 25ish matches into the contest I think. But you can't blame people for picking the cookie when the Guru cookie scored high 180s out of 192 or something like that. I think it was between 185 and 188, can't remember the exact score.

I was so excited on Friday when Link/Draven 1v1 was announced. Losing is one thing. Being denied a chance to challenge is far worse. Draven is the champion who wins the title once and rides away, never to defend his title, so that he will always cast a dark shadow over any subsequent champion. Or he appears to be right now.

The problem with this past contest wasn't so much that it was bad per se. It was the rammifications for future contests. If these things are going to turn into all (oftentimes mean-spirited) rallying all the time count me out. All of the contests in its tier or below were either mini-contests or contests with gimmicks that we could have easily gotten rid of, and which in most cases we actually did.

Hey I enjoyed watching Link put 88% on Ganondorf and 81% on Yoshi! 67% on Mega Man was pretty fun too! That Mega Man had just beaten Snake with 57%, and Link makes him look like a midcarder.

Currently I believe Allen, but I'd definitely like to see someone contact him about that and get an official reply.

As for how this contest ranks - it had it's moments, Vivi, Mega Man - but stuff like downtime ruining would should have been the greatest match ever, the stupid sticky ruining HayterFAQs, the idiotic LFF matches, it really leaves a sour taste in your mouth.

It's better than Rivalry Rumble (duh) and Villains, but I'd put it behind 2K6. That had the female bracket which was awful, but the male bracket was great.

So this was the 3rd worst contest IMO.
