Though I don't think Dissidia is anywhere close to sufficient to explain Kefka. He performed better on Snake this contest - the Snake that's doing extremely well on Link right now - than Epic Fraud Magus did against 2003 Link. Current Kefka would be projected to more than double Kefka at his low point around 2008. Dissidia doing that much seems very hard to believe, especially since Kefka looked like he boosted a lot again after 2010. Unless that was because of Dissidia Duodecim. In which case Square-Enix should get on Dissidia 3 ASAP so that Kefka can boost to the Noble Nine level he deserves and give us an epic 50/50 Kefka vs. Sephiroth match.

I really think getting Kefka some better art is a bigger deal than people may think, at least in terms of getting people to connect the dots with the name "Kefka" and the villain from Final Fantasy 6.

You could also argue what allowed GLaDOS to beat Kefka was the same thing, because nobody could figure out how to make a picture for her until her Portal 2 design came around.

Characters need to be very, very wary of Kefka and GlaDOS. They carved their way to Round 3 without so much as breaking a sweat and put up nice scores on Snake.

GlaDOS/Dante could be one heckuva sexy trap match.

I check the results since I just woke up...
1)WHY Americans love Link so much? We have a close match but Snake is getting owned in USA. When Cloud in the previous contests had a close match with Link he was getting owned in USA too. Do they give free Zelda games in USA? There are other characters than Link people you know!
2)Draven didn't managed to break 50%. Also amazing what SBAllen posted on the first page.<Thanks to the votes of the legions of League of Legends fans, Draven is the winner of the ninth GameFAQs Character Battle!> Awesome. Also Draven beat Snake with around 24.000 votes and Snake beat Samus with around 22.000 votes.

Mewtwo, who knows, the Pokemon fanbase have responded pretty unfavourably to Mega Mewtwo (at least, last time I looked), so how that pans out after the release of X and Y might make a difference. Mewtwo has the possibility of SSB inclusion, too.

Though I still can't believe people were b****ing about this match where Snake is throwing up 49% atm on f***ing LINK. I'm fairly confident Snake/Samus wouldn't have been this close!

I agree Samus didn't have to appear in the bonus match, she already had a pretty good run this contest

- made it to the finals
- shut down Mega Man who's got a decent bandwagon going after Charizard/Zero
- beat Tifa again while sending L Block to last place

Glad to see the Snake>Link hype thrown around all contest wasn't unwarranted. Finishing with around ~46% against him 1v1 is pretty good considering he was probably going to have either Mario or Samus LFFing Link hard.

Snake's zenith has come and gone. :3 About the only thing left to see is if he can exceed any of Cloud's 1v1 percentages against Link...

...which is not even remotely a guarantee considering the day vote that is to come. Link/Shepard/Draven exaggerated the power of Link's day vote. But not by much.

For comparison, Cloud's 1v1 showings on Link:

46.07% - 2006
46.46% - 2010
47.56% - 2005
48.18% - 2004
51.61% (!) - 2003

Beating any of those would be a big f***ing deal, especially as it pertains to future matches where MGSV and/or RallyFAQs could turn the tide. Personally I'll be alright if Snake can best Sephiroth's peak percentage on Link - 45.06%, for the record.

Link is probably in a trough right now that he's not going to be in again. Skyward Sword had a mixed reception, the Wii had a difficult last couple of years and the Wii U had a very poor opening year with a lot of negativity around it and Nintendo's general direction. The Zelda series seems stale for the first time.
Yet he's still the most popular character with some degree of comfort, I feel like this was the year to beat him.

Worst case scenario: LoL subreddit influences the bonus poll too >_>

When the finals rally thread dies off someone might make a thread about the news of Draven winning the whole contest... already we have someone calling to take down Link in the finals rally thread, just imagine if something like this turns into top comment in the Draven victory thread:

That thread with few comments and 7 upvotes ain't gonna do much s***, if anything, they have more of a reason to anti-vote Snake as well. The mod there did portray us as a bunch of villainous losers who tried meddling with their rallying thread during the Snake vs Draven match.
