ah bloo bloo because your twitter spam failed both times. At least I know how to get things done.

Congratulations? You rallied matches that didn't need to be rallied, and you seem to think you've somehow accomplished something. The ASD is just emanating from your posts over this past month.

Moreover, rallying for the sake of rallying isn't fun. At all. If you were a huge Vivi fan or something and people were "in" on it, then I could see the entertainment value. But as far as I see, this is some odd form of megalomania--likely to compensate for your inability to change or control anything in your own life.

I don't get why people keep using this "It's not reflective of GameFAQs!" argument when the contest literally isn't supposed to be restricted to GameFAQs.

The Character Battle has become one big Internet popularity contest on exactly two occasions: L-Block and Draven.

Can someone summarize what all happened with lightning_2 and the reddit impersonation or whatever?

Difficult to keep track of some of this. >_>

he's been rallying all contest. the LoL mod was fooled into thinking that B8 was trying to manipulate their polls when... no, we clearly werent' anymore and actively shunning people for it, telling them to stop, etc. insert a not even 2 week old account fake this some more, try to duplicate threads, and manipulate it on purpose while promoting to do that and the reddit mod got tired of it all and decided to sticky his own rally. within 10 minutes the person who made the 2nd neutral rally (not sure what happened to the 1st) came into this topic, confirmed who he was, but it was too late. good man for trying though. he's not getting enough praise for that. not his fault that it was too late and he cleared things up.

basically the lesson is this:
one person can make multiple accounts to fool a reddit mod into stickying a topic and making the match go from a 630~ vote gap to what's now 11,500+ vote gap. LoL reddit mod got completely tricked even when we were telling him that he was. then instead of trying to fix his mistake he just let it be and well, you see the match as it is now.

L-Block was an original GameFAQs creation though. This site *wanted* the block to win. The Block was legit popular.

I mean it's a Tetris block! Everyone knows what that was.

Absolutely nobody outside the LoL fanbase, whether it be GameFAQs or any video game fanbase on the entire planet, has even heard of Draven.

Draven is not popular. Not even remotely. He's an LoL proxy, driven by a fanbase that became obsessed with our contests for some reason.

A character with no actual popularity winning a popularity contest seems so utterly silly.

but I'm not sure why it's cool for one group to do it and not another, just because of its character or its numbers.

I think it's because we'd rather have a contest winner that more than 20% of this site's user base actually gives a crap about. Snake winning would've been B8's doing. Draven winning isn't reflective of GameFAQs at all.

I mean, I don't like rallies in general, but I'd rather have our champion than Reddit's champion. I don't care what Reddit thinks of our contest.

If you want to take it this route, the only times this character battle extended out of GameFAQs was coincidentally the biggest railed forces to grace the contests: 2004 Starcraft, 2007 L-block, and 2013 Draven. Every other contest stayed within GameFAQs as a whole with little outside rallying.

Chief at least had something resembling strength before Halo 3 GAMERFUEL(even I was hyped as **** for that game despite not being a big fan of the series).

The worst part is I knew this was going to happen. In the Link match, someone said of Link, "You don't know someone's true strength until they lose." This applies to Draven a lot more than Link. Whenever we threaten to actually take the lead from Draven, he pulls yet another trick out of his ass that leads to yet another victory. There's nothing anything in this bracket can do to even remotely match Draven. Just look at his toolkit that we know of so far:

- Subreddit rally that's semi-sustainable and makes Draven elite level
- Godly power hour
- Untouchable first night vote, making FF7's Total Domination Zone look like a joke
- Can delete old rally and eventually make a new one to avoid old thread decay
- Biased/incompetent Subreddit mods
- Riot employees and announcers that are willing to post/tweet/etc. about the match
- Servers always crashing
- When the servers aren't crashing, people will rally for Draven ingame
- People willing to bribe others to keep their rally thread bumped
- LoL tournaments that draws even more attention to the game
- Possibly a DDoS attack but I'll chalk that one up to coincidence

Most importantly, that Subreddit is the only website that's both large and allows for this sort of rally. This gives Draven rallying power that other non-LoL character can even dream of having. Even those tweets from Baretta, Hale, etc. only added like a thousand votes at best.

And even if something overcomes all of this, what happens then? Draven will have ANOTHER trick up his sleeve, I guarantee it.

no, we clearly werent' anymore and actively shunning people for it, telling them to stop, etc.

I know it makes you guys feel good about yourselves to just gloss over whenever people from this board do messed up stuff, but nobody else is going to see it that way.

no, the intent is clearly trolling. even if you dress it up to say that it's exploiting everything someone created, the intent is 100% to troll him to prove it wrong and ruin the contest for everyone enjoying a good, close match. you're falling for the classic heel pretending that everything he's doing is fine, even (especially) the stuff that's wrong.

Hmmm...maybe. Most trolls are ruder though.

But either way, knighting him as a Sith Lord makes perfect sense.

I'd almost prefer if he was mocking everyone for their buttears. The phony sense of justice is what's bothering me.

And yeah this dude has to be Smurf. My only inclination against that is that Smurf's been gone for so long and seemed to have matured beyond this sort of thing.

Uh, no he hasn't. Smurf was confirmed to have been Zophar (you know, the Touhou stuffer)?

XFD seriously?

Oh Ciaran... this kind of stuff was amusing when you were 15. Now it's just weird.
