I just woke up and I checked the results...
1)I can't believe that Snake will win. Seriously. Snake>Link? Only 1300 difference. If the lead never goes up above 3000 Snake will win.
2)Snake will win... He keeps it so close. Also must be a record of votes. We have around 45.000 votes after almost 5 hours and the previous match that was 24 hours had around 52.000.

You seem supremely confident.

goddammit Mega Man is gonna look so bad. i wanted Mega Man > Sephiroth in xstats! now he might be under Kirby. ;_;

the issue really is that reddit can bring in votes like nobody else. we're talking 50,000 votes for one guy.

Also, we are slowly but surely gaining on the pace of the L-Block final. At this rate, we could pass their votals between 8 and 9 am.

I doubt that happens. During the middle the day, that L-Block final was pulling in updates with over 900 votes, including one update with 999 votes.

Given how awesome Chie is, I'm glad to hear she had the likely champ on the ropes for a while there.

Who the heck are these Redditors rallying Draven, though? You'd think even gamers who liked him and liked playing multiplayer League of Legends matches would have sufficient exposure to the medium to respect the giants in the Noble Nine who've predated him and had a much larger impact on the industry. Like, I was a huge into Starcraft's casual multiplayer scene for a while, and I followed a few tournaments back in the day, but that didn't mean I'd have supported Jim Raynor against everyone else.

I guess the homogeneity is more surprising than anything else. Most times you try rallying on a website, you're taking a risk because most gamers like many videogames, so, for example, going to a Metal Gear Solid website and shouting "Vote for Snake!" might only bring a 65-35 ratio of Snake supporters, with a minority of MGS fans showing up and saying "Actually, I've played Metroid too and I like Samus better." You'd think *some* LoL fans would be like "Jeez, a relatively recent new character with little characterization against a gaming icon who defined the Playstation era for more than a decade."

Or, well, you'd think some LoL fans actually played Metal Gear Solid.
...Or Metroid, for that matter.

The LoL fanbase are teenage non-gamers who play one game and one game only. Maybe Starcraft, Dota, Diablo or some MMOs but certainly not the kind of games represented in the battle. Any exposure they have to other games are purely through twitch or "Let's Plays". More of an e-sports crowd than actual gamers so it's not surprising.

That's not technically correct. Allen said that votes from first time visitors were 3:2 in favor of Draven. Most of those first time visitors came from Reddit. First time visitors who came from the Link rally attempts or normal visitors to GameFAQs were obviously favoring Link by a wide margin.

the LoL Subreddit is pretty big and are going at it hard. but with that said, it's not perfect. turns out that the Draven/Link split from there was 60/40. so it's possible that the split here's like 50/35/15 or something at the moment. we'll probably know afterwards how things broke down, but it can definitely be broken up. the reason why Snake's votes are so big right now is partially their fault. the same reason why Mewtwo got 30,000 votes in his match really, it's by no means perfect.

it just has ridiculous volume that has made up a good 35-45% of the vote period. not for one person, but for everyone combined.

Reddit's support was only 3 to 2 favoring Draven and that was still enough for Draven to *win?*
...Given Link's support on GameFAQs that basically means Reddit must've vastly outnumbered Normal GameFAQs traffic.
...To such an extent that it's like, why even bother running the contest here, just run it directly on Reddit and call it Reddit's contest.

I guess I'm beginning to understand where all that aggravation against Reddit is coming from.

LoL Fans do know the Noble Nine. Draven split votes 60-40 with Link during his rally. Or, to translate that: out of 120k votes, Draven rallied something like 80k during a whole match, and split those with Link until both had 55k+. It's just that they really love their game.

(No, this isn't a heel turn. I'm just explaining to MWIS why people are voting for Draven.)

I forget Bacon's post, but did he say where most of the first time voters came from? I'd actually have expected most of Draven's voters to be repeat voters by that point. MMX/Ryu would be the match I'd believe that for! Or Chie/Jak.
