They're not made up. That Link match... wow. Usually sane posters had full meltdowns that day. It was funny.

Whether it is or not I can't imagine it'll matter. Even if the backfire percentage was unbelievably high Samus would siphon more than enough votes to make the match a gimme. There's, like, less than a 1% chance the match is even remotely interesting.

I'm still hoping for that "Kainak" person to win the contest (the one who made the "Vote for DRAAAVEEENNN giving out RP if he wins" topic in LoL forums

Because then it would mean the winner won thanks to bribery!
(you know, even if only 2% of Draven votes came from that topic,it still means he won due to bribery)

I didn't make the topic, I just said we were lucky that the name is more neutral. It probably won't matter unless the topic somehow reaches reddit/all. Besides we don't have the manpower to do anything to the topic, we might as well focus any manpower on rallying other places.

We should never be ashamed of caring. Ever.

The insults we are receiving are not our fault, not our problem. The issue here is a pure lack of understanding. They are hostile and aggressive because they don't understand how we could care about a pointless internet popularity contest. And as hobbies go, it's a weird one, but that doesn't make it bad or wrong. There's no authority telling us our hobby is worse than their hobby. Why be ashamed of it? Why be ashamed of your own passion for something?

And that's the reason the LoL subreddit is the problem here more than we are; we all understand loving a videogame, showing undying love for one, and actively participating in the community of one. We understand their obsession, even if some of us dislike it. But they don't understand ours... and that's their fault. It's not a crime, mind you - failing to understand is something everyone does at some point. But I reject any assertion that we should pretend not to care or something. This is board 8. We should be proud of this community and the reason it was formed, not ashamed of it because some trolls mock that reason - especially when that mocking is driven by their lack of understanding.

I never understood the problem with "caring" about this
I can write a 4096 characters long post about why caring for this contest is not worse than caring about sports

You can see riots in sport games, from fans fighting and more extreme cases of burning down the football club, destroying the manager car, things like that
About 72 people died in Egypt because of a riot in a football game, and what happened here was just some random "rage comments"
So if anyone takes something seriously,it's people that take sport seriously

The funny thing is,they are going to discuss the tournament, people will cheer for their favorite team, and if something stupid happens and the team they like lose, they will rage so much (kinda like what happened with Chen+Pudge in Dota 2 finals)

As was said, this is going to happen anyway.

And rallying for Snake tomorrow doesn't necessarily mean "tears are being shed" or something. I might launch a couple of rallies if it's not a complete mauling, that doesn't mean I'm crying about it. I wasn't even too upset about Link/Draven until the various controversies.

Oh, well you said Any attempts to beat him will be seen as defensive or caring too much.
So I thought you meant that trying to get Snake to win would be a problem

I never understood the problem with "caring" about this

There isn't one. There's a problem when you criticise this community for caring too much, then whine to the heavens when the reddit mods start deleting your rally threads, because that's hypocrisy. I'd also say that wanting Draven to win and rallying just so you can troll people is a problem too - I mean, it's still "caring", but it's caring purely about something negative, the infliction of "pain". But I don't think that applies to like 99.9% of the Draven voters.

They will completely make up these "tears" anyway, what's the difference?

They've completely fabricated a ridiculous number of comments that were never made. It's kinda sad.

It's also kinda lazy, cause they could find legit rage comments around here if they bothered. Instead they just make most of them up.

To be fair, that punishment topic was a parody of another topic about animal abuse.

Rooting for a Samus win because it'd be most hilarious. Draven would lose after all his hype, and even Snake fans would get crushed seeing their one hope to beat Draven end up losing to f***ing Samus again when he was supposed to be stronger than her. And the best part? Nintendo always wins!

Everyone knows the big poll for the Gamefaqs users is the Link vs Draven poll right? Link is the character they got upset over, if Snake loses to Draven it'll be skipped right over so they can go back to obsessing over Link and hoping they can win the Bonus Poll to prove the first one was "luck" over the fantastic Link..I'm sure there are a ton of MGS/league fans who will do what I'm doing voting for Snake in the final and Draven against Link
If the goal is really to troll the users over there, Draven knocking out all competition so Snake could win his first title will leave them salty as hell that Draven beat the almighty Link then Snake won the final..How will they fathom the "strength of character" and GFaqs math equations that Snake won the contest and they'll complain Draven made it easy for Snake, then in the bonus poll Draven beats Link will really annoy them..It's just toying with the users for Snake to win and reddit completely controlling the contest, 2 days of annoyance for the Link fans

this

this is the most pathetic thing. I think this is the apex

I mean it's a post that's pro-Snake, so I should like it, but jesus christ this is just...laughable. Laughable.
