Mega Man defeated Charizard in that beautiful match and started the tide that wiped out the Poke-domination. He's been to the semifinals many times but never quite climbed that hill into the finals that every other Noble Niner besides Sonic (I consider the male bracket final as a semifinal really) has done at least once.

Snake has been knocking on the door of Character Battle greatness, as runner-up in CBV and CBVII, and in the top four a bunch more times after that, but he's never quite made it to the mountaintop. I'd love to see him cement his place among the champions at last.

Snake and Mega Man both have great stories, and I'd love to see either finally climb the mountain. Samus I don't care so much about, she won CBV already and she's had an easy and unremarkable run this year. Seeing Snake and Mega Man go against the greatest of all-time, Link, and for one of them to emerge victorious over the champ would have been so awesome.

Of course, those great stories are completely ruined by the League of Draaaaaaven.

Snake is not going to beat Draven, even if Samus (or Mega Man) folds, which they won't. The focus in the final match is going to be the fight for 2nd.

God finally on that Expert Leaderboard... and it is all thanks to Pikachu.

Pikachu > Sora and Pikachu > Squirtle.

Also Red doing a couple percent less than I expected. I knew he wouldn't be as dominating as an actual pokémon, plus there are two stronger characters than him in the poll. I don't think Pokémon has been in that position before, except maybe Mewtwo where normally we'd say 1v1 Bowser > Mewtwo and Sonic > Mewtwo.

I dropped off the leaderboard again when I screwed up the Kefka/GlaDOS mathcup. Been running around 30-50 points behind since then, and just barely got back on the board at spot 48 after the last match. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that a lot of the leaderboard picks are for Mega Man, since I took Samus in first.

No reason to believe Red hurts Samus disproportionately.

It's been shown time and again that Pokemon is its own fanbase, and doesn't really overlap with anything much.

The only overlap it has is "GameFAQs overlap", e.g. Mewtwo/Sephiroth vs. Draven. But obviously that's not an overlap that will happen often!

Pokemon is it's own thing and I doubt Red is affecting the outcome of this match.

Im so sad too see MM is losing
I woke up when he had 200 lead and checked again now
I knew it would happen because hecalways starts strong and then drops in the night and recovers near the end of the match
But to see him losing the lead so early...sad

Yay! Probably next update, maybe the 2:10 update at worst. So-so character, awful games, do not want.

Mega Man's really not doing that badly. Ahead of where he was on Charizard and you've got to figure Charizard's day vote is a lot better than Samus's.

...bigger problem is because he was bandwagoned so hard he can fall a lot harder. Still, not an impossibility for him to win even now.

It's gonna be much harder to make a comeback against Samus than Charizard, of course. But for reference, Charizard's peak lead was around noon with a bit over 600 votes. If Mega Man can keep it below that, why not?

Glad to see MM on the lead, but the trends are against him. He'll need some rallying. Not a huge amount though. MM's 2nd half is actually better than his first despite the powerful 4 hours at the start. Then several hours of pain.

Without a Pokemon character in the match though Pokemon fans on Gamefaqs might be a bit more willing to vote for the Nintendo character compared to others though.

If the lead peaks at around 500-600 like against Charizard,then I will start trying to rally
As it looks like now,Samus will extend her lead to..at least 1000
This is going to be a long night

Haven't done trend projections and can't really on a phone, but natural trends probably have Samus winning around 51/49. With these votals, that's only about 700 votes. 1000 to be generous to Samus. Well within range of rallying.

Hopefully. My fellow country people will start waking up and voting soon. MM will probably rally towards the end of the match though, so Samus need to build up a good lead.
