Link got 45% on Cloud and Snake back in 2006. If Sephiroth had beaten Snake I'm not convinced Link doesn't go ahead and break 50% on Cloud and Seph.

Working it out a bit, if Cloud doubles Seph and the votes split 50/33/17 (hypothetically), Link has 60% on Cloud. Remove Seph and our actual result was 54/46. That's actually pretty much the exact amount Cloud lost due to Sephiroth LFF in 2008. So Link would likely have been right around 50% on Cloud + Sephiroth in 2006.

I can't believe you Pokenerds are trying to put on blinders for this performance. Last round was more of a question mark but Snake's got close to 50% on what is essentially just POKEMON

Look at the Oracle, look at the Spread Betting, he's doing great
Not a Pokenerd but my Oracle had Snake at 51%!

No idea why people were lowballing him after all the words typed about pokemon drones and pokemon's devoted fanbase and non-pokemon LFF and etc. Of course the third should do well when the other two are pokemon.

The Pokemon fanbase at this point is probably the broadest on the entire site. The insularity is simply not there to give Snake anything other than a dominating win over either of these guys, especially when you consider there's rallies going on for them right now.

This has everything to do with the reduced votals for the contest. Pikachu is far more popular to the casual market, simply due to sheer exposure. We're getting fewer and fewer casual votes in this contest, which is giving Squirtle the edge.

This is also why I want Allen to do something with that stupid banner that's completely useless, because nobody sees it while it's blending in with the rest of the web page.

The Pokemon fanbase is NOT the broadest on the site. The Zelda fanbase is broader. So is the Mario fanbase. And the Samus fanbase. Probably the Metal Gear fanbase.

I'm not sure why we would think the Pokemon fanbase is particularly broad at all. I hope it's not because Pikachu beat Sora despite LFF- Pikachu is just that much stronger than Sora.

The playrate matters less than the likerate. There are still loads of people who dislike Pokemon, or at least are not fans.

An example of something that is really broad and will not LFF much is SMB3 vs. SMW. Link/Mario actually wouldn't be too bad. We did see that Link/Mario/Samus LFF was a lot less severe than Cloud/Squall/Sora LFF.

Pokemon is middle of the road.

Bulbasaur more popular than Charmander? That's definitely not what I see from the masses.

In fact, I would give Squirtle a shot to beat Charmander I guess, but Bulbasaur is the one I would confidently rule out to win that match

Psh, B/W would be stronger than DPP. Pretty sure that the hierarchy goes RBY >>>>>>> GSC >>>>> BW > DPP > RSE. (Not counting the remakes in there, nor am I splitting the third games away from the first two, even though I personally consider Platinum to be far superior to Diamond and Pearl due to the greater emphasis put on actually giving it a strong storyline! That's also why I like HG/SS more than the original GSC. Basically, I consider Platinum the start of "New Pokιmon", kind of like FFVII marks the start of "New Square".)
