Link vs Draven with no reddit rally threads would be pointless. Link lost by 750 votes through a rally killing downtime and multiple huge surges during the day. He'd run Draven into the ground like the terrible meme he is.

There's been enough epic matches for me in this contest, and if Draven falls this round then the finals are shaping up to be really fun.

When all that's over, I want to see Link at his full, unhindered strength. Hell....I want Allen to lift the rallying restriction for that match, and that match only. Unhindered rallying Draven vs. Link with a site-wide banner. I wouldn't even care if he lost again, just so we could see him let loose for a final time before he gets retired.

Butthurt is just more dumb internet vernacular. Like if things don't go your way and someone on the internet calls it "butthurt" - the real world expression for that is being a sore loser.

Very simple test! If you feel like saying a word you only see on the internet... imagine you're using that word while picking up some chick at the gym. Still sound okay?

I heard the word butthurt for the first time when I was in elementary school over a decade and a half ago. You should seriously consider not being stupid this late at night.

It's amazing how desperately these LoL people care about this contest more than people who've been following them for 10 years!!

*Endless rally threads

*DDoS attack (oh, "might have been" a DDoS attack)

*Almost surely levels of stuffing we have never before seen

*Literal bribery with actual money for Draven votes

*Complete rage when their mods start deleting their rally threads

I don't get it. WHY do these people care about our contests more than we do?? We sit here and try to use stats and logic to figure out an internet popularity contest...yet they are more emotionally affected by results than us! The f*** is wrong with these people? :\

When all is said and done I want to go to their subreddit and ask them this. Pity it'd just get deleted. They have no excuse, no possible explanation. We care about our contest mythology and we were sad when it looked like Reddit would destroy it. They cared about ensuring we were "buttfurious"...and they cared so much more than we did all along. I don't think it's wrong to care, not necessarily. But when they criticised us for it so much...

Seph vs Draven isn't an interesting match any more. Seph vs Mewtwo is where it's at (why are Mewtwo's vote totals still so high-- I guess he found some of Draven's stuffers)

Mewtwo gets anti-Draven *and* anti-FF7 antivotes, I'd guess, plus whatever pokemon vote comes from the site banner?

as for where MM/Zero/Charizard ranks in these things...

Link/Draven(/Shepard) is hard to top.
Vivi/Mario is up there but this one is better. that one was more shocking, however it still involved a guy going in between SFF to win it. this had a guy overcome it and the last 30 minutes were nothing short of amazing. you can easily make a case for those 30 minutes being the best ones this contest has ever had and your only competition will be Mario vs. Crono 2. this though, being 100% straight and full of "he's done. 58 votes down, under 20 minutes left, it's over" followed by two updates later him exploding back into the lead? incredible.

the advantage to the match wasn't just Mega Man vs. card carrying member of the now most dominant force of rallying, but the fact that it was Mega Man vs. that guy vs. Zero. it was a formula that's cost him TWICE in the past and Pokemon has a habit of winning close matches, so it seemed textbook. but he overcame everything to win the match.

there are some points to this match which exceed Link/Draven. that one wins out due to drama and the mess that followed afterwards, don't get me wrong, and Link's two comebacks are absolutely incredible feats.

but Mega Man actually succeeded where no other has in the match where he finally overcame his weakness. there's value to that success story.

top 5 match for sure. Link/Draven and Mario vs. Crono 2 are just full of drama. as far as a straight match goes, without the BS surrounding it, i'd rank it as first with a goddamn bullet. including drama, don't know. it's tougher there.

You mean it would be a joke for anyone to go up against him in a fair fight, right? Because it would be, honestly. Unless Allen decides from now on to specifically handicap Link for the purpose of making it fun for everyone (which isn't a horrible idea if it's stated openly and up front), he's proven with the Draven match that he's untouchable when it comes to this site's traffic.

As for all time contest matches.

Mario/Crono II is the reigning champion for me. I briefly put Link/Draven ahead but that was in the middle of the match so I'm walking that back.

Link/Draven is 2nd though.

After that it's really a lot harder. Magus/Knuckles is a strong contender for being the original "what the ****" upset. Crono/Vincent 2008 is also way up there and pretty much the only match from the 4-way era I remember with any fondness. LttP/CT was a lot of fun, as was Frog/Chief. Too many to choose from at this tier really!

Yeah that was one heck of a heroic performance by Mega Man. I thought he had virtually no chance, was sooo happy that Xuxon was correct and I was wrong! ^_^

The Vivi and Mega Man wins were probably the two best moments of the contest. Both defied all odds against "clutch" forces that were seen as unbeatable, and out-clutched them.

As a match, MM/Zero/Zard has to be the top match this contest. Not top match all-time - we've had some terrific matches. But definitely #1 this contest.

Funny thing, I don't think he'll win, but Mega Man *is* the winner we deserve. He'd be the actual "plucky underdog" story. I mean NO ONE would have imagined Mega Man would be in contention to win the contest.

And I don't think even Snake and Samus fans would be upset if he won. I mean...how can you be mad at Mega Man?
