I was for it a few days ago, but, given our vote totals, any extra attention is bad news. This contest is up to the mods either way.

Also isn't it great that a gamefaqs contest is being decided on whether reddit mods can enforce rules or not. Wonderful

Again, I was the first person that said "just leave it alone" but just ventured an idea as it struck me. I'm not going to do any of this because my ambivalence is very high at this point.

For those that care, I think that'd be a solid course of action. And the reddit mods have no idea who is from where when a rally topic is made. Hell, rallier number one for Draven is FROM HERE.

How does defending yourself make you a villain? Reddit is the one who has started this whole thing by trying to decide another sites contest. This site has all the right in the world to do what needs to be done to defend themselves and keep their contest legit.

I don't think there would be any significant difference between Pikachu, Charizard, Mewtwo, or Squirtle, at least indirectly. What makes them different from day-to-day is their opponents, bandwagons, and rallies.

Black Turtle did a pretty good job.

I'd imagine Squirtle is pretty close to Charizard in normal strength. Squirtle just got rallied by thousands of votes because he needed them and because FFVII characters that don't have giant breasts are easy to rally against - especially on 4chan - while Mega Man is difficult to rally against - especially on 4chan.

Definitely think it's a bad idea to post anything against reddit's rules. That's what got all of Link's rallies deleted, and once they started getting deleted, they didn't stop.

I made a news post on r/nintendo called "WWE Wrestler Trent Baretta Endorses Link in the GameFAQs Character Battle." I linked it to Baretta's tweet, not the poll. I never made a post about it, either here or anywhere else, so I could not have possibly been conspiring to manipulate the upvote system. And I tried to frame it as a news item, highlighting a pro wrestler's endorsement in a GameFAQs contest rather than actively encouraging anyone else to vote.

None of this mattered, as it was still deleted without explanation, while the r/leagueoflegends thread saying Riot should make free Draven stuff if he beat Link in the Character Battle was left on the front page.

Charizard isn't cute enough to be on the highest poke tier. Mewtwo is a fraud who rode a fortunate Vincent picture and Sonic/Bowser overlap that nobody wants to admit exists. It'll all make sense soon. >_>

Yes and no.

Pokemon has had far too many SFF favoured matches. It's time for Payback. If zard makes it, Samus will absolutely demolish both Red/zard next round. Will be great to watch.

Rallying is totally legitimate - the only issue with Draven is that the sheer scale of it makes him virtually impossible to beat, particularly in this format. When you take something to its extreme, it's never good. Pokemon rallies a couple of thousand to beat Cloud in a close-ish match? Fine. Draven rallies 50,000 votes to beat Ryu and Megaman X? Not fine. Not fun. Kind of depressing. Everyone has the right to do those things but that doesn't mean everyone should.

Draven is illegitimate, yes, but not because of Reddit rally threads - those aren't the problem. The problem is stuffing, the site being DDoS'd, and the lack of an extension to make up for that DDoS. This is why going after the LoL subreddit is folly - remember, 99% of dudes there are just innocent LoL players who vote for their guy. The trolls we saw are a tiny minority. Disrupting their forum for our own goals is selfish and should be beneath us - would we not then be the "outside force" dictating how their website goes? No, the real crux of the problem is and will always be SBAllen's mishandling of the Link match. Do not direct ire at the LoL redditors who are mostly innocent and likely give not even the remotest damn about this situation. Counter-rally them, yes. Do what you can to outvote them, yes. Utilize Pokemon's massive worldwide popularity and nostalgia value, yes. But don't direct actual ire, and petty ideas of subterfuge, towards a board that is mostly made up of innocents. Save your ire for Allen.
