said Mario/Cloud would be 50/50 before the contest started, figuring it
was a match for the second strongest spot. Still think it's probably

Well, I'd probably favor Mario because FF7 is liable to have slipped again by the next time we have one of these. And I don't see the votals getting rehabilitated any time soon, which is about the only hope Cloud would really have of regaining some of his former glory. --- Welcome to the League of Downtime. |

Nintendo
might have also rebounded a bit by then. Sounds silly, but after the
Wii and an invisible first year for Wii U, the company is possibly
sitting on record-low ground in the eyes of voters (and that hurts Mario
if you subscribe to the belief that he's a Nintendo proxy). Hell, maybe
Sony and Microsoft will release such unimpressive consoles that

So we're all in agreement of Mewtwo > Sephiroth right? Now the question is whether or not the Draven rally will actually die down. It's
wholly dependent on the fickleness of the LoL subreddit moderators.

Blatant
Draven rally threads will be deleted, but general discussion about the
contest he is in is not, which people here or the LoL board will use as a
proxy for rallying Draven anyways. |
They
tossed up blatant Draven rallies at the end of the match in addition to
the proxy rally to blunt Link's final comeback push, and the mods did
nothing. It's complete and utter fickleness on their part. There is no

If any Nintendo rebound happens, it'll have to come from Nintendo themselves versus their competition not doing well. Every big game people want will be coming to PS/Xbox, not Wii U. The biggest hope for any Nintendo rebound would be Smash and Zelda, and even that won't get them into the same level of domination they had in 2005-2008. Of course, the field being so close together as is, it might be big enough to seem that way. If you believe in Sore Thumb Factor being a huge factor in the Kirby and Squirtle matches, Mewtwo won't be getting any of that. Random
dredging up of an old (pointless) topic from earlier today but Pokemon
is totally John Cena and KP was right on that. John Cena could very
well still be on 0 reigns if: 1. 80s Hulk Hogan (Link) was still wrestling for his entire career. 2. There were only ~10 reigns to be had total. 3. He was stuck in the rapper Cena character for over half of those potential reigns. Cena first and foremost is about "overcoming the odds" and trying to maintain the illusion that the odds are against him, like Pokemon. Saying "oh Pokemon hasn't won a contest" is just focusing on an insignificant part of the equation. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

I
figure KH's adjustments in Mario/Crono/MMX are probably a little
generous to Crono. Day match trends change a bit when you don't have the
night/morning vote beforehand and Crono's day vote probably isn't going
to be nearly as bad it used to. We no longer have much of an ASV and
Frog already said "screw you" to the established CT trends, right? So
55+% for Mario rather than 53%. Crono/Cloud could still be close, though
that's more because I see Cloud being weak than Crono being all that. I've seen this belief on this topic and on the Mewtwo rallying thread and on the SBAllen fat thread and maybe a few others... this is unfounded. The mods on the LoL subreddit didn't stop the rallying during Draven vs Link. The only reason why the original rally topic disappeared was because the creator deleted it. Though
personally I wouldn't be spending all day driving up traffic for Bacon
to make that point! I really don't think he cares about any particular
result outside of Link losing (or... really, what the regulars in

you gave us Vivi > Mario, so I can't be too angry at you. That
result was one of the best we've had in years. And it gave us the match
I've wanted to see for so long. Best birthday present ever. Today's "upset" is horrible, though. FFVII losing isn't funny at this point, it's just depressing. on Zelda fans, FFVII is no longer your enemy! Cloud presented his

Except
there's no realistic scenario where Cloud beats Snake there, regardless
of who the third character ends up being. Pikachu/Blue winning that

he's obviously going for his favorites as much as anything. The Bacon
rationale is probably true to some extent, but it obviously functions as

think my sig has been wrong for the last year and a half. Link is a
6-time champion, not 7. The other 4 wins were for OOT, the series, MM,

Link/Shepard/Draven
and Mario/Vivi/Ganondorf have one important thing in common - the more
popular character did not win their match. Whether that was due to rally
flooding and comeback-breaking downtime or Ganondorf leeching Mario,
the result is the same. We have less popular characters winning in a

Yeah Snake should be a good bit higher than both those estimates, though they're not thrashing blowouts or anything. It'll be hard to tell next round because Squirtle will be even stronger. If Snake can pull it off it will be very impressive. --- Welcome to the League of Downtime. |

This
result is either good or bad depending on tomorrow. If one of the
pokemon characters gets through it's a good. We need mroe pokemon
against each other ,it's the only way these things will lose. The only
