Yet they were still pretty even the next year. was down 150 to Missingno the first update and came out fine. The
trends really really favor Cloud at this point. For like......55%.
Even with our pathetic votals, that works out to 4000+ votes Squirtle
needs to rally. It's just about impossible to rally that many when

I was new here in 2002 and relatively unfamiliar with Final Fantasy,
"Sephiroth" was the one name/contest entrant that everyone tossed around
more than Cloud. Seph was DEFINITELY the pre-contest favorite to win
the contest, and a reputation like that doesn't just emanate from thin
air. He almost surely must have been the most popular FF character from

Sephiroth
was never more popular than Cloud. Was he the better character? Maybe.
However, the vast majority of people tend to identify more with the main
character of any game (for the most part). Cloud has always been, and
will always be, more popular than Seph (unless for some reason they make

was the site's favorite to win the 2002 contest. The odds were given
as 6:1. Snake was next at 8:1, and then Sephiroth and Link at 9:1.
Cloud was at 14:1. Strangely enough, the Noble Nine took up 9 out of

The one hope Squirtle should have I think (because the trends are very
unfavorable to him right now if this is the most he can do) is that the
pic factor he has should become more pronounced as the match goes on,
given that it has more of a casual influence. That could give him a
disproportionately good day vote to offset Cloud being normally stronger
