Yeah, it looks like Kefka is starting to collapse, but the SNV should help him out here. If he can keep it GlaDOS from building up a huge lead, he might be able to come back with the SNV.

Snake vs. Samus in 2010 was a 54/46 affair through stats, yeah? Not that meaningful of a gap, but Snake was stronger then. Don't think it puts one clearly over the other 1v1, though.

Yeah Samus could beat Snake, though I'd still decisively favor Snake even if I wasn't rabidly biased. Some of Samus's best years in the past have been Nintendo's down years, so she's pretty independent on that front (I suspect it's entirely based on her design appeal a la Dante... which also kind of explains how she crashed so hard against Mario).

That being said, the characters she beat in 2010 don't really look hot this year, and we don't really have a read on her (the Knuckles beatdown almost looks kind of bad now!).

Other than Zelda. This has easily been her best contest so far, and it's a shame she and Tidus were robbed of their first major upset wins.

Well, I'm still a bit skeptical of Snake today, because I'm not a huge believer in a massive Glados boost, so it depends. I agree that Samus's match against Knuckles could be less impressive, too, though. Need real opponents to tell.

My best estimates on GlaDOS have her ranging from Gordon Freeman to Dante, but her matches are very difficult to use because they're so polluted with SFF. It really just depends on what Snake brings next round to validate these two.

I feel like if you compare this to Cloud's performance in R2 Snake > Cloud.

It's similar percentages (Snake's only down a couple) and I would definitely take Kefka and GlaDOS over Frog and Lugia in a heartbeat.

Yeah I was about to say that Snake failing to double KEFKA spelled doom for him against Cloud...before remembering that Frog did about as well against Cloud. Probably even better.

Either Chrono Trigger has boosted, or Cloud's toast.

Well you gotta spot Cloud a little bit for a 24 hour match. Snake should easily have a 12 hour night match in the bag against the guy, but it'll be 24 hours so that's a much bigger factor.

That being said, yes, Kefka was decisively above Frog even in 2010, so even if he's only stayed static it doesn't bode well for Cloud.

I don't think Glados is super weak or anything, but I'm not so sure about the high end, Kirby level that everyone was talking about earlier. I thought Kefka might be up there, but that's why I consider this disappointing for him, because I don't think Glados is. I'd put them both a step down from there, which probably puts their opponents into more agreeable positions, too.

Then GlaDOS being above Frog becomes harder! Though to be perfectly fair we saw there were a lot of 'Rivalry Boosts' in the Rivalry Rumble, and Frog/Magus is a 'better' rivalry than Chell/GlaDOS. Same thing as Ryu/Ken basically being equal to Samus/Ridley. The strength differentials are wayyyyy off the scale in the case of the latter (Samus is leagues above Ryu, and Ridley is actually stronger than Ken, too), but it sucks as a rivalry.

Altair's obviously deboosted since then.

Yesterday was only inflated due to all the rallying (and the match before had a jolt from Link/Shepard/Draven). Again, it's pretty obvious that the Link loss has sent our contest into a malaise. Even with minimal rallying Draven's just going to roll through to the championship.

It's just good business. No businessman is going to admit decreased traffic without some kind of spin on it.

That's actually the main difference between Ceej and Bacon, for the latter it's much more business oriented. Not that Ceej wasn't in it to make money, but remember how after Mario/Cloud he asked Planet Gamecube not to get involved in our contests like that again? Imagine if that was applied to Draven.
