WhiteLens posted... So I was wondering, are Draven rally posts now banned on Reddit or was it just that one day when he was up against Link? My understanding is that the Reddit rally threads were deleted because there was an offsite conspiracy (on board 8) to mass upvote/downvote them, which is against Reddit rules. Someone must have reported the board 8 topics to the Reddit mods, I guess. --- You put your RESOLVE HAT back on, which conveniently is the same hat as your NORMAL HAT. {Drakeryn} |
abdou posted... the ****s at reddit are aware of this contest now and Draven's run , they will probably come and vote during the match even if no rally threads are made Without rallies, the users that actually care about this contest won't be significant enough. Sure draven would still pull in decent numbers but without any rallies, he doens't make the finals and probably loses next round --- http://s19.postimage.org/aosug5mrn/Persona4.png |
It still annoys me to no end that Draven rally is allowed but any other rally in /r/Nintendo or whatever is deleted ASAP I can understand each site having it's own rules and things, but the same damn site having a different rules for each subreddit and giving Draven a fair unfair advantage? this is ugly |
Nanis23 posted... ...??????? Oh yeah I forgot about Snake. LOL. Impossible to separate them 1v1. No doubt Snake would win in 3 or 4 ways due to anti votes. --- http://s19.postimage.org/aosug5mrn/Persona4.png |
They can create a stealth rally. For example something like this <Hey it would be cool if Draven won the match on Gamefaqs!Draven is a cool guy!> That way it can't be deleted because it hasn't a link to another site. --- GameFaqs is NOT the place to go for relationship advice.Nobody here gets any action unless it is their right or left hand.Including me.~Dawn and Dusk~ |

Ideally,
Cloud will beat Squirtle so, if Pikachu somehow beats Sora, then
Pikachu can exploit Stand-Out Factor and the Pokebandwagon and beat both
Cloud and Snake in one blow. I can't believe I'm rooting for Sephiroth and Cloud to win their matches just for the possibility that they'll get crushed harder the next round. --- Current Let's Play: Final Fantasy II - http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3557012 Previous: http://lparchive.org/author/mega64 |

Gotta hand it to Kirby for keeping it as close as he has. --- Congratulations to SuperNiceDog, Guru Winner, who was smart enough to pick your 7 time champion, Link. |
im surprised its still really close go kirby --- GT: LegendaryFalco oh ok |
I
still think the answer is L-Block. He has the rallying potential and
the joke factor necessary to beat someone like Draven. And I think
GameFAQs would rather unite behind the block than behind a pokemon or a
FF character. There's simply no way to hate something like L-Block.
Specially when he's not the one who is killing Link this time, but
rather avenging him. |

swordz9 posted... Yeah, Sephiroth had ALL NIGHT and isn't even 1,000 votes ahead of Kirby. Yep, but Kirby doesn't seem to be able to cut even during the day. He's done. |
Had Kirby not get any rallies Sephiroth's lead would be well over 1000. --- ... |
Sephiroth
does well any time outside the power hour. Best Kirby can hope for is
to stall/shave a few votes during the ASV, if it comes at all. --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 119/180 Today's Pick: Sephiroth |
Gatarix posted... FranzyvonKarma posted...Snake getting 54% on Zelda means he loses to MegaKangaskhan. It's the same theory as Brawl announcements. I mean, yeah, eventually you can import your old Pokémon from earlier generations, but these Mega announcements are pretty much like announcing that the Pokémon will actually be in the game (except for Mega Blaziken, where it's already been announced that you need to get the necessary ingredients via wi-fi). At least, that's my theory. --- RIP GrapefruitKing and Emporer_Kazbar. You will be missed. |
Yeah, Kirby needs more help. It would be great to see him win this match. What's the furthest he's ever gotten in a contest? --- http://myanimelist.net/animelist/swordz9 |

Wait...people think that Snake is stronger than Cloud? Come on. he got 48% on Cloud in 2010, and has looked much stronger this year while Cloud is a bit weaker. Hes almost certainly stronger. |
L-Block
probably could unite the most people. I want nothing to do with it
myself though so if the final is Draven/L-Block/whatever I'll be taking
that 3rd option. --- http://myanimelist.net/animelist/swordz9 |

Cloud has looked weaker and Snake has looked stronger based on what? This contest, Cloud barely outdid Bowser against Frog last round, heck Sephiroth is currently performing worse than Sonic did against Kirby. --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 119/180 Today's Pick: Sephiroth |
Cloud
didn't impress against Frog, while Snake impressed against Alucard. Of
course, Alucard probably dropped since his opponents, Smash-based Falcon
and Old Square Rydia, both ended up having most other characters under
those umbrellas looking like crap. --- Current Let's Play: Final Fantasy II - http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3557012 Previous: http://lparchive.org/author/mega64 |
Everybody
knows that a few of the NNers get anti-voted against fodder. Link and
Cloud are two of the most heavily anti-voted NNers in these contests,
yet they always manage to ramp up the intensity once they're facing
strong opponents. Considering Cloud was sapping his percentage from Lugia all round, I think it's safe to say that the Pokemon was the lightning rod for Cloud's anti-votes that match. And if it had been a 1v1 between Cloud and Frog, I have no doubt that he would have looked a lot more impressive. --- PSN - Aevio "I'm on a Goomba." - BlackMageJawa |
I
have to say, this is Sephiroth's first 'good match' since... uhh,
2008... maybe? It may be true he's beating Kirby with less % than Sonic
did but the circumstances are very different here. No one in the
analysis crew picked him to win (!) but he's taking on a MGSV hyped Big
Boss and Kirby who has all sorts of reasons to overperform, and just
rolling through it. Sephiroth was not favoured to win this match. After 5
years of beatdowns and 'this guy has fallen off a cliff', I think we
can say - Good show Seph! --- Fine! I'll go to the store and get your Goddamn drain cleaner! Character Battle IX Tingle Victory Parade - the journey is over.... |
1000 vote lead for Sephy --- you just can't live in that negative way...make way for the positive day |

Look, Cloud got about 64% on Frog, that is pretty bad no matter how you look at it considering he got 66% on Ryu in 2010, Theres a 95% chance hes dropped again, meanwhile the entire mgs crew has looked great, especially Snake who blasted alucard into outer space by outperforming Links percentage on him. |
ASV
can't come quick enough for Kirby, all the percent Sephiroth is gaining
is at his expense while Big Boss has stayed more or less constant. --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 119/180 Today's Pick: Sephiroth |
Sephiroth
is only a half percent away from Kirby in the USA now (and he may have
already seized the lead, considering the map lags the poll). If Kirby
can simply limit Seph to the tune of what some of his better night vote
hours were during the ASV I'll be impressed. Because make no mistake, this would be in excess of 55/45 right now if it weren't for the big sustained night rally. --- http://i.imgur.com/xiKRQ2F.gif Proud to share the same sig as Chen Kenichi's #1 Fan (also Yoblazer) |

I
guess it was the rallies that kept Kirby in the match. Kirby doing
better in the night and then crashing in the day(even dropping more than
Big Boss) doesn't make any sense. And I'm not sure where this FF7 has a better day vote than night vote stuff comes from. Show me a match against a day character where they didn't do better in the night. They don't have a bad day vote of course but I'm pretty sure their night is better --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |

It's
not that FFVII is better at day than night, it's that both are way
better than the power hour. And the day gets many more votes than the
deep night, so FFVII gains more in absolute votes during the day than
the deep night when the percentages are not close. As they are not here
(without rallying). If rallying just adds a constant number of votes
to Kirby's vote intake, it's possible he can keep pace during the night
but not during the day. --- Congratulations to SuperNiceDog, Guru Winner, who was smart enough to pick your 7 time champion, Link. |
Well
I was talking about it all night, but I think I'm ready for the
formation of my hypothesis: FF7 will have a better day vote than night
vote in close matches - all other things (especially our votal level)
staying equal. Close matches mean rallies. Rallies invariably go against FF7. Assuming they start up in the night and are sustained, even though FF7's natural night trends are perhaps the best in the business, we don't get a lot of votes overnight. Therefore even if you can manage a piddly 10 net rallied votes (after backfire percentage) an update, that will have a HUGE impact on our dead zone times when we sometimes struggle to pull in 100 votes at all. But after we hit the day, it's not enough. Rallies have to step up their game, and this one didn't. Those same 10 votes aren't enough to be the same factor on updates when we're raking in closer to 200 votes from 100. Factoring out the rallied votes, yeah, FF7 will be doing better in the night than the day. But in today's contests, that will be a rare sight indeed. --- http://i.imgur.com/xiKRQ2F.gif Proud to share the same sig as Chen Kenichi's #1 Fan (also Yoblazer) |
