Well,
regardless, this is still the most impressive show there's ever been in
a contest match, I think. Without the over the top stuff from Reddit,
and likely vote stuffing, Link probably still crushes a 6,000 vote lead.
Standing up to those rallies was also crazy. Draven might win, but Link
too good. Don't think anyone challenges him for a good while. --- tune in tokyo 142.94 |
And the google thing was me thinking it meant they used it to literally get to the poll result page. Homepage is a lot more understandable! --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? GotD (219/384) Melee v FFX |

It's
exploiting a rules loophole to keep a rally topic alive, but if the
original rally had been left up Link would have never had a chance in
the first place. This will make it a bit harder to push Draven through in future rounds because this was kind of an improvised desperation move after Link started slashing through Draven like no one's business, but against the weaker competition he should be alright. --- http://i.imgur.com/xiKRQ2F.gif Proud to share the same sig as Chen Kenichi's #1 Fan (also Yoblazer) |

I mean what is that site exactly? How many users it has? Reddit's probably one of the top 10 websites in the world right now. Makes me wish I had come up with the idea. Islands in the South Pacific for everybody! EDIT: 36th in the US/111th worldwide according to that handy alexa.com link. I thought it was much, much bigger than that to be honest, because that's all anyone's been talking about since the whole jailbat thing came to light. Why that didn't take the site down a few notches is beyond me. |
I don't care who wins but those numbers in the pic make me more suspect rather than less. 45% of poll traffic is via Draven rallies. Draven is pulling 60% updates. So even if he got 100% of votes from that rallied traffic, unrallied he'd only be getting doubled by roided up Link and would be 60/40'ing Shepard? I find that hard to believe after seeing his unrallied performance in R1. --- Crucifying my Oracle average one match at a time |

There
are 2 more rounds though. If Draven wins, next round it is versus Sonic
and Sephiroth probably. Now all FF fans will vote for Sephiroth and the
rest for Sonic. So Draven can win there even with less rallied votes. As for the final if it is Draven-Snake-Samus, people will vote equally for Snake and Samus so he doesn't need that many rallied votes to do it. --- GameFaqs is NOT the place to go for relationship advice.Nobody here gets any action unless it is their right or left hand.Including me.~Dawn and Dusk~ |

ShatteredElysium posted... I don't care who wins but those numbers in the pic make me more suspect rather than less. Yeah, I think a good portion, if not close to a majority, of Gamefaqs wants Link to lose. So maybe this result is actually best for the site. |
Unless
Reddit just completely quits rallying, he would coast through the rest
of the bracket. He only needs a fraction of this to best anyone else.
Link was always the one shot at stopping him. --- tune in tokyo 142.94 |

If
next round was something like, Draven/Samus/Scorpion (2002 all over
again!), I'd be really high on Samus's chances because Scorpion wouldn't
hold her back very much and Draven's reddit strength is neutered
outside of another stealth topic cropping up, which isn't a guarantee. But the remaining players that can go up against Draven are just too strong relative to one another. Link/Shepard/Draven was about the best setup we could have hoped for. If the stealth topic dropped off and the match was rerun, I could see Link winning comfortably... --- http://i.imgur.com/xiKRQ2F.gif Proud to share the same sig as Chen Kenichi's #1 Fan (also Yoblazer) |
Kind of anxious to see the next match pics. Hopefully they get up soon. |
It took 16 and a half hours, but votals have finally surpassed the X/Ryu match. It just feels weird it took this long. Anyway, Link's a real monster. He had everything going against him, and he's still ahead of Jak in the x-stats. And even if he drops, he'll still be above Chie no matter what. --- Hey, its that SuperNiceDog! Congrats to the Guru 2011 winner |
Just goes to show if Link got round 2 Draven in this match, he'd have no hope from the get go. Not that he had much hope in this match. Looks like he just got a miraculous 3-4 hours with minimal rallying. Once that was up it was back to business as usual --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |
Yeah,
Link's a beast. Didn't think he was getting enough credit before the
match, but it's nice to see him holding up to even the questionable
rally. Shame that Reddit got that desperate, though. Link making the
comeback would have been the best ever. --- tune in tokyo 142.94 |
Oh,
and props to Shepard for keeping it constantly around 12% for the
duration of the match. Pretty solid. Refused to completely give in to
the rallies, and went up in percentage alongside Link's rampage. --- Hey, its that SuperNiceDog! Congrats to the Guru 2011 winner |
Dang Link, you suck. Well, not really. Kind of lame the downtime won't change anything. We'd have a 22 hour poll instead of a 24 hour poll, and if Allen says it's not a problem at all, then it is what it is. Is it safe to call this contest right now? |
Yeah
this doesn't say anything about Link's strength, he's hypercharged
right now (and still can't really stand up to the actual rallies, if
you've noticed). This isn't the guy who struggled to put up 60% on
Raiden and SFFed Yoshi. --- http://i.imgur.com/xiKRQ2F.gif Proud to share the same sig as Chen Kenichi's #1 Fan (also Yoblazer) |

So, legit question here. http://i.imgur.com/wUulr26.png Apparently some 40% of the poll's pageviews come from reddit. But the reddit rallies have been getting deleted consistently by the mods for a while now. The LoL official forum rally only represents 5% of the pageviews. So what's going on? How is Draven beasting, with traffic coming from reddit, without a rally topic up at all? I'm not pro-Link or saying there's stuffing, I'm just interested in knowing how it's possible. --- .-#Elements of Water#-. Surskit |
I'm
not really liking the precedent all of this sets...Soon (if SBAllen
decides to do this again) people from places like Reddit are going to
vote stuff to get a completely irrelevant character to win. I mean, what's the point of a character contest if there's just a big outside group collectively deciding who wins in order to troll people? And what's the point if it's just a vote stuffing contest? Yeah, yeah, I know what you're saying: "Link always won, so what's the point?" Yeah, he did like always win, but as least we knew his wins were legitimate... --- Politics is weird. And Creepy. And now I know lacks even the loosest attachment to anything like reality. - Shepard Smith Rubio 2016 |
Well,
that's a given, but that was always going to be the case. I mentioned
right after the MMX match that the Link we saw today would crush the
Link in round 2. It's the same way with Shepard - he's way above his
normal level here, too. Still, after so many people were putting him in
the mid-20s and him erasing 3,000 votes off the lead, that's just
beastly! Obviously, this isn't the new Link going forward, but I still
wouldn't take anyone over him. And if he had won here, he'd probably
cruise to another win. --- tune in tokyo 142.94 |

Looks like I missed some interesting stuff after the site crashed. Honestly the results aren't believable, Link was cutting Draven with the original rally topic and now Draven is easily gaining. It's
really a testament to LoL's popularity in Europe when almost every
single eastern European country has Draven effectively 85-15ing Link.
That might be the reason why Draven is pulling away right now. Wouldn't be surprised if Link manages a couple of stalls and cuts in the SNV when Europe goes back to sleep. |

Soon
(if SBAllen decides to do this again) people from places like Reddit
are going to vote stuff to get a completely irrelevant character to win.
Why would they do that? Seriously, people aren't thinking rationally about all of this. Reddit won't produce a huge rally for somebody that nobody cares about from a random game, unless there's a bizarre trigger to it (being Reddit, it'd probably be something rape-related that allows the fedora-wearers to white knight). This happened because there was a strong confluence of 1. An extremely popular game having a huge presence on a single site, 2. Said site being extremely conducive to rallying tactics, and 3. Votals being low enough that a half-decent rally could just completely take over. --- "Hamas isn't really a terror organization." -Terran [Evil Republican] Play Der Langrisser. |
