If Link wins, I wonder if he will get a giant amount of anti-votes later similar to what happened after Sephiroth/Missingno.

No question that he will. This will be worse than missingno though. Hell, L-block could get a giant boost like in 2007.

I think this has kind of cooled the Link hate for a while. It's like impossible to be a fan of these contests and not feel something akin to allegiance for him after everything that's happened in the course of this match. It might cool by the finals, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes until next contest.

Well I don't see how they could gather to anti vote him. They wouldn't even have an excuse like "Draven is in the poll" to put up an anti rally.

3108 is the biggest comeback of all time.

Link is currently at 3096, so unless something goes horribly wrong, he's got this record next update.

so i just asked an acquaintance of mine who has experience with DDoSing about potential vote stuffing. he said that it would be a good bit more complicated to vote stuff then to DDoS, based on the 1 vote per IP.

Can't believe Link is powering back even through DDoS.

But yeah...that was easily 1500 votes lost during that slowdown, as a conservative estimate based on what Link was doing. If we assume that 500 of those people are voting now, that's 1000 votes lost. Which could be HUGE depending on what things look like at 8pm EST, the time when night voting comes into play again.

Link will definitely be stronger after this match, he's gonna curb-stomp everyone in the later rounds.

Sballen, good luck thinking of more formats/ways to dethrone him, i don't think we will ever see Link losing again in our lifetime.

Rigging the contest for Link to lose was a dumb idea on Bacon's part. Take him out if you don't want him to mess with the contests so much or put him in as the secret final boss for the champion to take on. 1v1 24 hour contests (at least from R2 on) are just so much better.

Look at this match if you needed any more proof. What if Link had a legitimate anchor holding him down (sorry, Shepard) and it was only a 12 hour night match?

It's not a comeback if you don't win.

I can't believe I'm watching a match where Link is losing, and HOPING he wins.

I mean, it's Link people. Think about that. Think about the last 10 years. He is essentially our contest god, and the people have lost faith in him in recent years. Bring the faith back, Link FTW.
#372 | Julian_Caesar | Posted 9/2/2013 11:31:50 AM | message detail
So Link slashed 3000 votes in 4.5 hours, with a DDoS in the middle that probably delayed it by 45 min or so.

Most unlikely sentence in contest history??

THIS MATCH.

I'm too spoiled by 12 hour matches to ever hope for the 24-hour format (especially 1v1) to return. The 2005 and 2006 contests, which were our last of the 24-hour, 1v1 format, were simply a step below 2010 in terms of enjoyment. 2010 was easily the best contest year ever, and I think the format had a large part to play in that.

So, next round who's the most likely to receive more Link anti-votes? Sonic, or Sephiroth?

Unless Bowser, Mewtwo, Kirby, or Big Boss somehow wind up there, because this contest is weird as hell.

Down time was from 12:21 to 13:49 or something
Downtown was for 90 minutes more or lose

Using 11:16-12:16 as data,Link got 2323 votes,about 194 per 5 minutes (update) and 39 per minute
Using 12:22-13:26 as data,Link got 489 votes,about 38 per 5 minutes,8 per minute

We are talking about 2500 "lost votes" for Link if my calculactions are on track
Using the same calculation for Draven,he got about 1600 "lost votes"
This means Link currently is supposed to be 2000 votes behind, not 2900...

Waiting for someone to calculate it better but this is the general direction

Yeah, Draven is obviously at "much higher than anything he was ever putting up for a long time" votal intakes.

This guy was consistently in the 120-130 range even with the rally topics up. And fell under a 100 per when they went away!

Sephiroth gets the bulk of Link anti-voting as Sonic gets SFFed to all hell. If he can make it. Won't make a difference considering how weak he is now. Sephiroth 2k3 could do it I guess.

Two things:

First, Draven's vote totals are highly unusual, it looks like he still has a rally when he doesn't.
Second, without the DDoS Link probably would have been within 1700 of Draven at the point it ended. If this gets below that Link has won.

Basically, Draven is hyper suspicious right now.

Yup. I just read how the Reddit rally topic was deleted.

Yet Draven went from going even with Shepard to doubling and tripling him after the site came back online.

There can be little doubt now that this is stuffing happening, right now. Pretty much absolute proof here.

People owe Lopen apologies! They labeled him a "conspiracy theorist" and other such bullcrap.

Good job Lopen on your terrific analysis. Internet high five ^ !
